BWP, the only problem with these are that your floor must be PERFECT or you will loose all levitation. If the joints in your floor are too wide they will as well.

Not only that. There are many problems that were addressed with this:

1. You hit a screw lying on the floor and puncture the diaphragm.

2. The dust in the garage is going flying everywhere.

3. The volume of air needed to keep this in operation. If a shop had a machine that could push that volume of CFM, then they would probably have a lift.

4. With the air, the noise from the creeper and the compressor.

I know this is an old thread, but I found the idea of a Hover Creeper online. It appears that Matco Tools was supposed to be marketing this item, but as you know, it is in not in their catalog. Of course, this is an idea that was going to be produced some 12-13 years ago.

I did find that it was originally conceived by a man named Kirk Whiteside, who is affiliated with Whiteside manufacturing and they market a bunch of industrial creepers. I have send emails to both Matco and directly to Kirk at Whiteside manufacturing to find out what happened to this unique product.

It is more of a curiosity at this point. I would like to understand why they went so far as to design, develop and market the product, but failed to sell it. Maybe there are some inherent design failures that kept the product from launching - don't know.

I will report back if I find out anything conclusive....

Okay. I just got a quick and short response from Kirk regarding the product. Essentially he indicated the product became too expensive and therefore has been retired....

Too bad. I would have like to have tried one..
