Long time lurker first time poster. A little background I'm a big jeep guy, love building and wrenching on stuff. So why not build my own shop I've been renting a small one for a while now and figured that the money would be better spent on one I own. I decided to build a 32x40x14 Attic Truss pole barn on precast footings. Nothing special 4 window 16x12 OH door and entry door, as much as I want to have it all done in one shot it will most likely be a work in progress. Got my permit and picked up 17 of these precast footings 5ft tall 24" footing base. Weigh around 750lbs each.

Will be looking forward to seeing this build. What jeep forums do you frequent?

I go on Jeepforum, Pirate and a couple local ones. So I dug a trunch much like you would for pouring footing, put 4-6" of 3/4 crushed stone. Then I set the 4 corners, l laid out string lines to set the rest of them off of.

Nice start on your project, Highliner. You know I will be keeping tabs on your progress!

Planning on adding a hardtop hoist later? My best friend and I designed and built mine and it is so handy and quick.

I frequent JK Forum and Louisiana Offroad (my local) when I'm not parked here!

Thanks Marty...I been thinking of adding one to the house garage. After a inspection of the Footings/Foundation I'm ready to start framing. Trusses are 4-6 Wks out. So that gives me some time to get ready.

Purlins are on, tap conned the skirt boards to the precast footings. 2" XPS 2' down around the perimeter and boxed each post inside with 1" XPS the same 2' down. This should keep the slab and post isolated from each other. Then back filled and compacted. I also cut and notched the posts for the double 3100 series 40' LVL's that will carry the trusses. Those things are a bear to maneuver around. Single 32' LVL's on the gable ends.

Thanks guys....I haven done much in quite a while, the jeeps gone thru a few start/stop builds and changes, due to work, houses general life stuff. Started to redo everything when I bought my second/ current home. My first house didn't have a garage or any space to really work on anything. This house has an attached 2 car and the space to build. After a tear down and partial build I jumped into building the shop, but here's where it sits now 97 TJ 60/14 3F/4R link 14RS coil overs/14 air shocks. Last pic is sitting at full bump.

4 loops 1200ft total of 1/2" pex I choose to staple it to the foam I sure wish I'd had the gun. The first loop I put down I realized I wasn't going to get good heat distribution so I had to pull it up and start over, now the flow and return run parallel in each loop. Then wire mesh on chairs and ready to pour.
