I went for a walk in the desert, and look what I found! It was laying in the sand, not on a trail, probably 1/2 a mile from the nearest road. There were no footprints anywhere, maybe it fell out of an airplane?
So I had to lug this heavy thing back to my car, and then when I got home I looked closer and found some ugly reddish-brown dots on the handle. Someone told me it is rust, so I might throw it away. What say you, Garagians?
Also, I found that thick steel plate it is sitting on by the railroad tracks. That was a different time. I am going to drill and tap four holes in it, and mount the vise to it. It probably weighs. 25 pounds or so.

Nice score! I was wandering around near Calico last month, but didn't find anything but shotgun shells. I was driving down an access road near Desert Hot Springs once, and saw a bowling ball on the side of the road, in the bushes. Came back the next day and it was gone...

Nice 'you ****' score. Have there been any off road races where you were? How about any power lines? I think it bounced out of a truck. Why it wasn't secure you'll never know. but I bet the former owner ties things down better from now on.

Hey! That's mine! It fell out of my Aerial workshop last week when I did a barrel roll...
I think a "You ****" is in order. Nice find!

That's like the scene in Close Encounters of the Third Kind when that huge cargo ship is in the desert.

I put red dots on all my tool handles to better identify them. My wife said one of my vises was missing (or was that "vices"?) I second the motion, nice score, you ****.

If the plate was sitting there all by itself, then no biggie, usually there is a pile of thousands that get recycled by the RR.

Good thing you picked that stuff up and did your part to clean up that pristine arid environment, somebody could have run over it and ruined a big old fat commando tire.

People around here do NOT want to pay to go to the local landfill.
With thousands of square miles of desert nearby, three guesses where they dump ****?

My best desert find......a stainless steel QUEEN brand fixed blade hunting knife.

I love the desert and often go wandering. Love the colors, the silence, the rugged beauty.

But you have to be careful and be prepared. So, I always bring my vice.

Now I know where I left mine. Cactiki, can you please send it to me? I want to go on a hike.
