Is the magnetic 11-in-1 worth getting? I've got the original version, and love it...except when I inevitably drop it and it pukes itself apart. Haven't had much issue with the bits pulling out in use, but mines only about 1.5yrs old.

Just caught up on this thread... somehow working from home keeps me from tooling around on the GJ..go figure....

Jeff, is the a larger move by Kline to offshore or are they trying to keep up with the competition?

I love Klein tools. I have most of their pliers, strippers, cable cutters, screw drivers, nut drivers, step drills, dmm, circuit tester, etc. I also have many of the zipper pouches in a variety of colors as well as a leather zip bag. I used to work for a telecom and I ordered all the tools for our field ops. Got lots of freebies. Nice fringe benefit.

My favorite Klein tools are the screw drivers with the yellow handle with rubber cover. Nice that the handles are marked with the size/style. Ditto on the nut drivers. I never knew what a combo driver was until I saw the Klein version. Primarily used on switches and duplex outlets. Also have a full set of square drive screw drivers.

I also own and like Greenlee electrical tools. They are equal in quality to Kkein.

made some functional additions to my Klein bag today. Previously my voice/data tools were basically piled in the bag, making it less than ideal. Some 3/4" PVC and model plywood later, I have version 1 complete.

I did the same sort of thing, but used some old / small belt style tool holders.. same basic concept.. I'll grab a pict when in the basement and share....

I'll play! Here's all of my Klein Tools...I don't think I forgot any. Had to consolidate them from various locations around the garage. Most were purchased at estate and garage sales for $1-$3.

This leather pouch is the first thing I grab for the honey-do chores. It covers 95% of household repairs without needing to come back to the garage. I've been searching for a Klein pouch in good condition and a fair price.

Nice!
Got the screwdriver set the other day. The pliers are a gift from a buddy.

I've had these for about 25 years (and they were old when I got them) and never noticed that they were made by Klein Tools until yesterday. They're, functionally speaking, in excellent condition (i.e., the serrations on the jaws, the threads on the adjustment bolt, the hinges, the spring; all excellent), though they won't win any beauty contests:

is there a link to the rest of that catalog?

I don't think so, at least not on that Wesco site. They seem to have a bunch of snippets of that catalog (which appears to be an old catalog) scattered throughout their site. If you take one of the URLs like this...

https://buy.wesco.ca/static/catalog/products/images/PDF/KLEIN_TOOLS_KLEINTC00006_100.pdf

... and try different numbers at the end, some of them work. The "100" corresponds with the page number of the catalog, but not all the pages are there. For example, changing 100 to 101 will take you to the next page, but 104 is an invalid URL, but 105 works, and so on.

You can also find the current Klein catalog here:

Hey All,

I need an easy to use and versatile wire stripper for use around the house - primarily changing out light fixtures and things like that. Klein seems to have a ton of similar looking options just on the HD website alone. Does anyone have a recommendation for a particular model?

This is my favorite, and the one I keep in my “home” bag.

Usually runs about $20 at HD. I’ve tried many other types and brands of wire strippers, but keep going back to this one because I can get pretty much anything I’ve ever had to do with these and a #2 screwdriver (which also is a Klein haha).

i know this thread is a little old, but here's most of mine. i have 5 klein/vaco screw starters, journeyman crimpers, journeyman lineman pliers, 3 kinds of strippers, another scissors, handful of screwdrivers and probably some other stuff at work in my tool cart. also have a 24" canvas bag and one of the backpacks hanging up in my basement somewhere! i just can't help myself when i find klein tools at garage sales, flea markets, estates sales. i love old tools that still function as good as their new counterparts and am addicted to acquiring them. now, i won't attempt to cut nails with my 80 yr old linesmans, but i'll twist some copper and put them through their paces!

I just got these in the mail off Amazon. I know they arent USA made but they work pretty well and are my first set of crimpers.

I love the 2 pair with Klein Koats on them!

klein koats really make these tools feel good. i actually remembered i had a new set of 6" koats while pulling these out of the box, so i cleaned up and put them on the 6" needle nose in the pic! i have the same grips on an old pair of vbe pump pliers that i use for seemingly every project around the house and some channel lock wire cutters.

couldn't help myself, had to get what i have at work laid out too. i mostly use knipex and wera/wiha for pliers and drivers professionally, but they're all tried and true and work just as well. cobra pliers turned me into a full convert a few years ago and i don't see myself ever really going back, but i'll continue to pick up interesting or antique klein stuff when i see it!

Ran a few new branch circuits in the garage this weekend, and fell in love with my D2000-8 lineman’s pliers all over again. I love everything about these, and they make great hammers, reamers, and crimpers, as well as functioning very well in their intended cutting and pliers functions. And they just seem impervious to damage, no matter how you abuse them...
