Well all you So snobs...there goes the neighborhood. That's right, mr. trailer trash here just scored a FREE SO bottom box with the hanging side car cabinet, I haven't got the thing home yet but there will be pictures to follow. It wasn't easy to look at everything in it because of where the box is parked but there are some tools in it too but from what I can see, it doesn't look like anything too valuable. I will post pics and ask advice about restoring or selling as is. There was even a warranty paper in the side cabinet with a model #. not sure if it was for the whole unit or just the side unit.
Yup, I now have a Snap On box

Well don't get too excited, the tools I managed to see looked more like left overs from someones picking but the box is in decent shape. Pics on Monday when I get back to that jobsite.

How was it free? A buddy of mine knows just about everyone around and is always swapping, selling or otherwise giving away power equipment and all kinds of other junk he comes by. I did not pry on the details but the way I heard it was the box came from a neighbor of his that ws cleaning out his garage. I have known this guy for like 25 years and he has always been super to me.

So, you did NOT have to pay for your Significant Other. "bottom box with hanging side car cabinet" sounds like perhaps a physical deformity, I guess the pictures will clarify that.

It wasn't easy to look at everything in it because of where the box is parked but there are some tools in it too...

So, she comes with her own "tools".... might not be the best choice for a Significant Other.

There was even a warranty paper in the side cabinet with a model #. not sure if it was for the whole unit or just the side unit.

Well, if she was a model back in the day, that's good. warranty paper is ok too, that raises the value!

:)

Refinish that sucker and KEEP IT. If you're anything like me you'd never pay the bucks it takes to buy one. You only go around once and since you're a tool-using-guy; like all of us here, you may as well have the (purported) best. If you were like my brother in law (screw dirvers confuse him) I'd say sell it.

Well, I'm still trying to get pictures, I havent taken it home yet. Relative is still in the hospital and not doing too well, Then my MIL ends up in the hospital too but she will be OK. Just a quick question, what is the right SO color to use to refinish this box?

I'm going to assume its Snap On red, but the pics will tell more. Then you can get the correct paint. Several on here have used certain shades of certain brands, or Snap On sells it too

Well guys, I was at that job site today and I snapped a couple pictures of the toolbox. So now there are no doubts as to whether or not I'm fibbin.
I'm comparing thr size to my current C'man roller and I think I can probably use the increased capacity of this box so I'll probably clean it up and paint it.
That's why I'm asking about the correct SO color.

Well we all know life isn't fair, now don't we?

I'm not kidding, I got it from a friend who knows everyone from everywhere and he got it from a guy who was cleaning out a garage. He specializes in power equipment and knows I'm into old cars so he asked me if I wanted it. That's the good news... The bad news is that it's the middle of April and I've blown through all my good luck for the whole year!:)

Yeah, I'm about 3 minutes from the place that makes wood fences. Pretty but too spendy for my tastes.

Oh...did I mention that I also just scored a (somewhat used) 32" LCD TV for the garage too?

Don't try and warranty anything since you didn't buy it from the dealer, you will be strung up by the nads by somefolks who thinks no one should warranty anything unless you bought it first....

Hello again, I was at that customers site again today and I grabbed the side box and put it on my truck so at least that part of the pair is home. I will try to get the rest tomorrow if I have time. Anyone have any info on the correct red paint? Thanks.
