Could someone recommend a true authorized dealer in the USA for the Launch X431? The company must offer international shipping.
The X431 is the only diagnostic scanner that I've seen in use and the only one that I've had hands-on with.
Some time ago I sought info about the Maxidas DS708 and was encouraged by the responses but had to deal with other priorities at the time. Trouble is the only way I'd know for sure if the 708 works on JDMs here would be to import it. Returning it or any other dedicated diagnostic scanner would not be an option.
In my corner, diagnostic scanners are as plentiful as chicken teeth. I don't know if I can take a chance with anything but the X431 since it’s the only tool I've seen in action. But cost is a limiting factor hence my initial interest in the DS708.
How can one tell what is legit and what is so-called ' grey market '? Is it the price or the vendor?
Different versions of the X431 seem to abound and options are confusing. For example, one vendor cautions that the number and type of connectors in their current kit might vary from earlier ones. No specifics on what has been changed. Most work I’d have would be used JDM 1996 and upward. The connectors for the different makes supplied with the original Launch X431 make this kit ideal for this market segment. The DS708 doesn't appear to have the same quantity/range of connectors. Its cost compared to what I last saw for a genuine Launch X431 makes the former a fair investment even if it only covers some JDMs.
Appreciate any input.
