Hi every one!I just recently picked up a Kellogg-American air compressor. It's a model A130-B/serial F176559.Plugged it in and half an hour later I got it up to 80 psi.It has a 30 gallon tank. The motor is 1/3 hp.I know it's a little pump and sorta big tank but they look to be a matched set.Should it take this long?Any chance I can find parts to refresh this little cuty? The tank has 1945 stamped on the tag, could it be that old?

1/3 HP? I have a 30 gallon rolair that is a 3 HP motor and fills up in just a couple minutes. I don't know a lot about compressors but 1/3 HP seems very small for a 30 gallon compressor.

Hi Frank,
Does it look anything like this:

If so, it may just be from '45.
This is a 1947 model A-140. 30gal. 1/2 hp so probably just a click in the evolution up from yours.
Yours sounds a little tired but that wittle pump should be a cinch to rebuild if you can source parts.
I'd try to get a flexlight in there for a look to make sure the tank isn't real rusty first

Rob, with those specs of 2-3 CFM would that compressor be worth rebuilding?

Y'know Scott, I don't know.
It was from the pre-air tool era when Power tools were electric in shops & gas stations.
I guess it would make a tire filler/blower off-er etc. but as much of a sucker as I am for nostalgia, even I can see the practically in more modern stuff now and then. :)

Wow,that's the baby!On the outside it looks almost new but I'll be sure to give a look inside. Thanks!

Frank if it's in nice shape and you have the room then why not freshen her up.
Like Scott was thinking though I think it would be a bit wimpy for much in the way of air tools.

So just for my own education what all were these compressors used for back then? Seems like a 30 gallon tank would be overkill for just filling tires.

Good morning all.I bought this pretty much for the nostalgia.I'll be using it to fill tractor tires and blow the dust out of the air filters. It's in my little field shop.If I need real air I have a couple other compressors for that.
