Just got my 30x40x12 shell done. This is something I've been working towards for 10 years and it's finally coming together. We bought a little bit of land this time so I could have a shop but I had been back and forth on whether or not to go ahead and build one. About three months ago I picked up a couple new projects and realized once I got them home and stuffed in the garage that I could no longer work out of a two car. So, the decision was made and here we are.

Before picking up the projects I built my workbench, reorganized, and cleaned the garage in preparation.

The house garage once the new projects were tucked away. A 1950 Ford F6 cab and 1956 Ford Mainline (hence the name).

Slab was poured a couple months ago. I had a 5' skirt added to the front and it's a couple inches thicker in the area I plan on putting a lift later.

Then the day finally came that I was next in line for my builder. I decided to do a weld up. It was more economical and easily customized. I also opted for insulation which I can already tell was worth it.

I took advantage of my builder's scissor lift still sitting here and ran the electrical for lights and fans last weekend.

I chose to run CFL's based on threads here. I tested them in the house when they came in yesterday. They are bright! I got these off Amazon for $28 a pair. I went with 12 total. The outside 4 corners are on one circuit, the inside 2 on each wall (4 total) are on a circuit and the 4 down the ridge are on a circuit. I also got the fans as a last minute deal based on you guys.

And my dog taking up her new post while I was doing the electrical.

So now I'm at the point of getting power into the building and deciding what I want to do for interior walls. I'm looking at white sheet metal, drywall, painted osb, or a combination of the three.

Just build a little hot rod out of it. Custom frame, 240 inline 6 (maybe turbo), 4-spd, suicide 37-48? front axle, 9 inch rear. I've got most of the parts to put it together, just need to get the title worked out before I start dumping $$ and time into it.

Haven't been getting much done on the shop itself, but I did put it to use last weekend. Will be nice when the electric is hooked up.

This weekend I worked on dirt. We are in the Blacklands of Texas and this dirt *****. It cracks and moves all the time causing craters all over the yard. I also needed to build up around the slab since the concrete guys left it mostly exposed around the back end and one side. So I drug the yard and pulled it all up to the shop and to build the area off the deck up. It's hard to tell the build up except in the second pic. That whole area came up 15-18". In total it was probably ~50 yds of dirt and 15-20 hours on the tractor including doing the front yard while I was at it. Now I'm ready for the electric company and rock to connect the driveway to the shop.

Wow, it's been 7 months since I updated. Well I've got 3/4 of the shop framed and am almost done with the wiring, just a couple outside lights and a couple outlets left inside. I still need to trench for the incoming power and water, but I have the lights and fans temporarily wired so I can run them off an extension cord from the house. I guess I haven't taken a lot of pics, but here's a few to catch up. I've been working on a few projects so it's a mess in the pics, but I was able to get it mostly cleaned up this weekend.

First the namesake and the other toy barely fit end to end before I started framing, this will never happen again once it's all finished.

Starting framing. All 2x3 up to 12'.

The main panel and sub panel almost done. I did the 125A sub in the back wall to cut the cost of wire in half as all my 220V stuff will be back there.

And the lights finally on after all this time.
