Looks like Ranger is enjoying a rare moment of solitude away from the new pup.
Probably awaiting any meat scraps that might come his way too. :D

Shouldn’t a thread about tables, include tables?

Putting **** on paper is a step towards making it happen.

This is my idea of planning.

The rest is in my head, and worked out “on the fly”.

Thinking I’m digg’n this one.

Riv, do you always have that much empty floor space :drool:or do you park a vehicle in there too?
Looking forward to a table project...

Jay

Jay,
That’d be a big “No” on the open floor space.
Took me an hour of reconfiguring to make space for another boat project that I picked up this morning. It’s a vintage 12’ Seattle Boat Works lapstrake skiff.
Need to do more research on it, seller thinks it’s 40’s - 50’s era.
No cars in the shop, unless I’m working on the old flatbed.

Dropped the new boat in the carport.

No need to make a dusty mess in the garage.

Stripped the seats and floorboards.

Needs a good clean before I can fully assess, and put together a plan.

Good thing I have help!

Gotta start somewhere.

Seems the previous owner thought caulking came from a tube.

“A little door and window caulk should hold the water out!”

Also found some rot on the inside of the transom. Going to have to find the extent of it. Hoping it’s not another total replacement.

I love the shape of that boat.
You know that I live a few minutes from the Ocoee river, where they held the 96 Olympic water events and the Hiawassee river both are great whitewater rivers. Just saying we could rock that boat when you get it finished.

Thanks Jim.

I love the lines on the bow.

The stern isn’t quite as lovely, but it’ll look better sitting in the water.

Had to google the Ocoee River. Beautiful.
Some of those rapids could be a challenge, and the trailer is going to need some maintenance :)

Cool project. 20+ years ago, my parents decided they were coming to visit us on Whidbey in a week. We didn't have a guest bed. Went out to the garage and found enough 4x4, 2x4, 2x6 framing lumber, ran it all through the planer, and built a queen size bed. Several years later some friends were at our house, saw the guest bed and asked if I could build them one. Sold them that one for $650.

Riv, the Ocoee is pretty rough at the top, class four rapids. The Hiawassee is more of a tubing river it would be a better place for a wood boat.

Looks like a wonderful place for a row.

I’ll be doing the reintroductions to water at Baker Lake.
About a hour from my house.

With little help from Ranger, we made some progress on the wife’s headboards.

But, he’s not very good with a chisel. That whole lack of opposable thumbs thing.

I skipped the planer part.
Legs are from some dunnage I picked up a job site awhile back.

Anybody else probably would have tossed them in the dumpster.

I liked the rough sawn texture.

The planks are something the wife picked up online.
She did a great job matching the legs to her prefinished material.

I miss fresh Pacific salmon, fresh crab, fresh shrimp. Warm water seafood just doesn't match up.
Had a guy working for me years ago on Whidbey who would go out almost every morning before dawn and check his pots , fish , or do some *********. He only kept what he and his family could eat that day, plus some to bring to the job for me. It was great having fresh stuff almost every day. He also had a dog , Rusty, that was half golden retriever/half Newfie (hence his name) . 150 lb dog would go out in that rowboat with him .
