Thanks Jim,

They started branding a hull number on the transom back in 1977.
I don’t have a number, so I’m thinking it’s pre ‘77.

That makes it a least 44 years old.

The guy I bought it from said it had been in dry storage for over 20 years.

That's pretty cool. It's always fun to figure out the history of your projects.
Thanks Brad,
I won’t be painting over the logo this time.

while waiting for some varnish to dry on the Lowell’s boat(new name for the green boat), I got the floor boards in on the Osyter Jim boat.
Reinstalled the mid-rails/seat supports.

came to realize that when I moved the transom forward a bit, that I’d need to shorten the seats too.

Riv the wood in your last photos sure has a beautiful patina to it. Nice job on that project!

Jay
Thanks Jay,

It was never my intention to make It “like new”.
The boat is almost 50 years old, and I wanted to keep it looking it’s age.
It’s a fine line between sanding off the crude, and sanding it back to new wood.
I actually like all the water stains and dings, they tell the story of the boats history.

Spending most of today rescribing the seats for both boats.
Just trying to improve the fit, and the reveals between.

Making sure to seal up the end grain, so they don’t **** up water and rot.

Tool/Puget,

Its my dad’s old Delta/Rockwell circa early 60’s. I’ve been waiting to bring it home til I needed it.

now, I have to store it😜

It needs a full tweak-n-tune. Maybe an indexable cutter head.

If it’s going to take up space in the shop, it better hum like it should.

That’s a pretty handy boom crane attachment thingy you have there. My back would love to have one of those. Nice jointer you acquired too. 👍

Nothing like a little challenge in the shop to take your mind off what’s weighing on you.

triangular tapers can be a *****!

I started getting a headache just imagining the mental gymnastics required for the triangle tapered piece. Great job on that Riv, it fits like a glove.

Just a little simple layout, with lots of test fitting.
Lots of passes over the jointer set to take a 64th off each pass.

could have used the truck mounted hoist today😜

Completed the touch up paint on the old Lowell’s skiff today. Hope the dog hair stays off it😜.

Also, the mailman brought me a couple cheap boat covers. They are really lightweight, more like dust covers for inside storage. They’ll work for keeping leaves and pollen off the boats short term outside. Definitely not for rain or towing.

Definitely on my garage wish list (y) Don't see too many anvils for sale around here, if you do find one they are priced using the current gold standard o_O :ROFLMAO:

I've wanted an anvil 'just because' for years, but the prices and/or condition have been problems. I have a friend in Marysville who does forging and used to make custom anvils. I mentioned to him that I was looking for one, to keep his eyes open. He texted me pics the next week of a 150lb block that he was going to make an anvil for me, and progress pics over several weeks. Got to the point where he said he just had to have it hardened. Then he called to ask me to build the cabinets for his new log house, just as I was packing to move to Florida. Told him I had sold most of my shop machines. Never heard from him again. Still looking for a nice anvil.

Years ago, I helped an old friend set up an estate sale after his parents passed.

His dad had an automotive shop/farm.

It was an overwhelming task.

The anvil came from his dad, and is on a “permanent loan” arrangement because my friend doesn’t have space for it.

Watched some TV today.

Reminded me of Max Headroom.

Also, lowered my flag to half staff.

Whipping some rope work tonight.

Always nice to send a needle through some skin.😬

Reminded me of Johnny Cash’s cover of Nine Inch Nail’s Hurt:
