That is very cool, but any machinist can do that. I am not, so I'm not tring to take way from it. The old guy next door is building a 5/8 scale 10-20 and his work is amazing from the hand built steel wheels and lugs to the frame. Granted he is not building the engine, but the little 4 cylinder he did find looks pretty close.

There is a lot more going on there then "merely" machine work. Making a working scale model that runs takes the ability to engineer, reverse engineer (A different skill set) then design the parts, (it is not as simple as divide by 5) finally execute. Sure, machining the parts may seem simple, but if you look at some of those parts, even that is not trivial on home shop equipment. just designing the jigs for making the crank shaft would defeat most ordinary machinists.

Outlaw responded quite good to this and I'll add that there a lot of machinists that could not do some of those pieces even if they had a print.

While I didn't read the whole blog today that is amazing stuff. I marvel at the patience and ingenuity required to build such stuff. I would also have to say as a person of no formal qualifications welcome to GJ and share some of that know how.

And I was getting ready to go to bed feeling good about myself and what I accomplished today...

Then I read this and am humbled, this is amazing work. Thank you for sharing!
