Picked up a cpuple of these LED usb rechargeable flashlights. Little spendy at $70 but a damn nice light.

Loving the M18 mitre saw as well. Crazy thing, when i went to return the first one at HD they only had the saw on the reciept. It came with a second 9.0 battery in another separate shipment. Being honest i told them this and tried to give the battery back with the saw. Even the manager said it's not on the reciept so i can just keep it. :D 22ab29efef05390d3cd7479cb2dd7500.jpg

I bought one of those flashlights but I ended up returning it. When I slid the front part out to focus the light beam it kept sliding right back in. You couldn’t focus the beam and just have it stay. Not sure if they all do this or if it was just a bad unit.

No issue with either of mine, the sliding head is pretty tight actually.

A few questions for you guys -

I'm looking into buying the 1/2" mid-torque impact wrench. This will be my first Milwaukee cordless tool and I'll be using it for automotive work, mostly on a 1/2 ton pickup. The lug nuts on my truck are torqued to 140 ft-lbs and I'm curious if anyone else has experience removing similarly torqued lugs. I'd also be using it for suspension bolts and other items throughout the truck. Should I go for mid-torque or jump to the high-torque? Or maybe both......

Being that I don't currently own any Milwaukee cordless tools, what is the best way to buy this impact (2861-22) given that I will need batteries and a charger as well? Is the kit the best way to go? If so, where have you found it the cheapest? I've seen it for $360-$399 thus far.

Any help is appreciated.

Dejavu as this question/scenario pops up often

The HD deal on the one key kit with the flood light and free mid torque for $449 aint bad, especially if you have a coupon you can use. The non one key M18 Fuel kit will hit $349 before the free tool promo expires.

The mid torque should serve all or many of your needs unless its rusted on or slammed on by a monster air gun who ever did the work prior.

My only issue encountered so far was the bottom didnt twist to reveal charging port and I kept looking for it by unscrewing the battery holder. Until I got it to pop the first time.

You could start with a kit like this with the free mid torque

I haven't seen this Milwaukee accessory before on here that I remember anyhow.

I know there are other extractors like it on the market. Guessing it was new last Fall most online reviews are from Sept 2017 :dunno:

These are "impact rated" though, I have yet to see another bolt extractor that advertises that. Could be bs. I always use those by hand anyways though

Thanks for the insight! Considering the mid-torque kit is currently listed for $399 at HD, but they have a Drill/impact driver combo kit with free mid torque for the same price, even though I don't really need the other 2 tools, it seems like the way to go. Plus I have a $20 off $200 coupon.

How do you know the kit will dropto $349 soon? Any idea when it will drop?

Not that uncommon.....

SK turbos are a tough call though, Amazon says they can be used with power tools, SK website says to NOT use them with impacts, but SK has warrantied two for me so far that I have used on impacts (broke on first ues, split right in half)....and they have a tough warranty.

The 2897 kit has dropped to 349 the previous 3 years before the promo expires, I would expect it to be next week.

Still baffled that didnt realize the specs of Fuel ratchets are slower than old ones, makes no sense, they should be faster or better yet have high/low speed!
2456 1/4 30 ft lbs 250 rpm
2457 3/8 35 ft lbs 250 rpm
2556 Fuel 1/4 40 ft lbs 250 rpm
2557 Fuel 3/8 55 ft lbs 200 rpm
2558 Fuel 1/2 60 ft lbs 175 rpm

If you broke two, on the first use no less, maybe they really aren't designed for impact use. :dunno:

Might be more torque with same motor — but to do that you need to change gearing and drop rpm.

Someone mentioned the old jobsite org cups fit in packout but dont remember proof. Cant put the square halfs in middle have to use the double rectangle. Finally can use the useless packout the M12 stuff comes in.

Oh I have impacted MANY more than that two and they have survived....we have this thing called rust.;)
If SK would have refused, I would not have complained and bought a replacement. Sometimes getting a job done easier or done at all is worth "abusing" tools.

This is cool because you can take a few bins from the big organizer then there is room for an impact driver and a battery in the old big organizer.

Yeah, I use the "old" non packout organizers for my M18 tool cases. I like them because they're cheap, easy to get, stackable, all the same size, and pretty durable. I tossed all the stupid blow mold cases when I converted over, but this was before packout was a thing. I hope they don't discontinue them (though I wouldn't be surprised) - the packout stuff is just way too expensive for my blood.

While they're brushless motors and probably a *little* stronger than the old brushed ones, the only real way to get that much more torque out of them is to gear them down. Still a tiny 12v motor after all...

Cool. Yeah, the older organizers can fit a lot. $20 is a good price. I almost wish I didn't spend money on the Fuel sawzall case which doesn't fit the 9ah batteries. It's good protection though. I really like that the 10-bin cases lock together & won't slide like the molded cases. Look up Kaizen Foam (spelling?) if you havent, they have neat foam kits for the organizers. $20-40 is kinda spendy though. Now I need to find a bag for the 7 1/4" Fuel saw. [emoji846]

Yeah but still was surprised. At least Gen2 Fuel ratchets will be 2 speed this summer with my Fuel heat gun, M12 Surge, Fuel jigsaw, Fuel inflator, and M18 Rover Gen2.

Yeah I'm rocking he Kaizen foam. Pretty neat, but I don't know if I'll buy more when I get another organizer. Might just get a thin one and not cut it up. I ended up settling on the Fuel bag for the circular saw, haha.

When I had the blow mold case for the Fuel Sawzall, I used a razor and heat gun to slice the battery compartment open for the 9.0. Worked great.

Cool. Thanks. For now I keep the 9ah on my driver in the 2897 case:lol:. I might modify the sawzall case, or use the 9ah just on the circ-saw. I have almost a dozen 5ah's for non-high demand tools. I gotta get some of the Kaizen foam, maybe just 1 or 2 slim layers on the bottom of the organizer & I'll stop using the 2897-22 blow mold case. :headscrat

What do you recommended for circ-saw only? I'm wondering if the triangular bags can actually be zipped shut all the way w/ saw. 17L x 11W x 11H seems to be the go to....Funny, the bigger bag is $7 cheaper.

Is a fuel inflator set to release this summer, if so I will be first in line:drool:

You'd think with all the automotive geared tools, a tire inflator wouldn't be the tool people were waiting for.

M18 inflator, m18 jump pack, and a M18 Knife sharpener is my latest wish with all these Milwaukee knives. Although I have to admit that seems like it would be along the lines of the Ryobi brand.

Hey kctyphoon,

Does your M18 heatgun "seem" like it puts out a small amount/volume of air?

I almost think mine is at 50% boost.

I watched Youtube videos/reviews of it, but the few that actually record at regular speed with sound, it is really hard to make out how hard it is blowing compared to my M18.

This is of course being compared to my corded Master Heat Gun, which seems like a damn jet after burner compared to the M18.

I have my M18 7 1/4 saw in the 11x11x10 bag that I think came with my hammerdrill. Fits fine. A little snug with a battery on it but I take it off and there's still room to stuff it in the bag.

You do realize the motors in the FUEL tools are not running on battery DC power. The tool has an inverter driving the brushless motor with AC power at higher than battery voltage. This is why many of the FUEL tools are much more powerful than their plug in counterparts.
