Yea, but I still don't have any Ryobi stuff.. I just bought their impact wrench kit for $80 on clearance and gave it to the warehouse guy at work. For the price of the battery you can get the entire kit right now if u can find them.

Pardon my interruption, but I think he meant that after you made the comment about all their cool new stuff, you could just get the adapter and the Ryobi bare tools and use your plethora of M18 batteries to power them

Interesting it almost looks like the collet is no farther out than your finger knuckle when your hand is wrapped around the handle

I have to wonder about that, I can put a 1 inch bit my brushed 2462 to drive sheetrock scews sets them dimpled and no deeper.

Need some opinions on buying the M12 ratchet 1/4 and 3/8. I am not a professional mechanic at all but I like to wrench on my cars and motorcycles. I have a few m12 tools and would like to pick up 1/4 and 3/8 ratchet.

For a non pro like myself is it really worth the extra money to buy the fuel versions of the ratchets? I know they are more powerful but for the price of 1 fuel ratchet I can buy both non fuel ratchets. Looking for advice from people that have used both ratchets.

I just bought the 3/8" Fuel a few days ago and I've only used it once so far to tear down all the **** in the way of pulling a valve cover, along with the valve cover, and all I can say is that ratchet is simply amazing. So great to have the ability to break bolts free, with no effort, that I'd only be able to get maybe 1/3rd of a turn on a normal ratchet on. Out of all the tools I've bought over the years, it's pretty damn high on my "I wish I had it sooner" list.

I bought the brushed 3/8" about 18 months ago (before the Fuel versions came out) and I got the 1/4" Fuel for Christmas. The 1/4" Fuel is more powerful than the 3/8" brushed.

If I had to do it over, I'd probably buy the brushed 1/4" (for small stuff) and the 3/8" Fuel. I'll probably convert the old 3/8" with a 1/4" drive and then buy a 3/8" Fuel myself.

For general wrenching, they are one of my most frequently used tools. I love them.

For a 2 pack of 3.0 vs a single 5.0 - he's making the argument for the 3.0's cause price is only $10 different.

Link shows runtime difference of a 5.0 vs a 9.0.. and he's making the argument the 9.0 is the better buy just for how much longer the runtime is.. if you watch his other vid he says the batteries aren't new, cause he's not sponsored by Milwaukee, but the 9.0 he has looks to be brand new.. still - the runtime difference in his vid is just insane.

Cool video but no load run time too.
When I use my 9.0 in the water transfer pump I get about 45min straight Maybe 20-25 min on the 5.0

Edit I had the same question in a way I did get my friend the twin pack of 3.0 XC for hers.

Just checked what I paid for the two pack it was $99 at the time 6/17

I agree about having the crossover of 2 batteries one on charge while using one should minimize downtime. Recharging a 9.0 takes lifetime it seems even with fast charger

That's why I really like my M12 compacts they seem to charge so quick

That’s neat but I bet it takes a bit to get set up every time not to mention cost. Maybe it’s worth it for some especially if you make lots of repetitive cuts in the field but for ease of set up and portability I’ll stick with the rigid.

He did a no load runtime comparison using 2 M18 multi tools side by side..

First test was 3.0 vs 5.0
Don't remember exactly, but it was something like 40 min vs 55.

Second vid was 5.0 vs 9.0
Results were 59min vs almsot 3 hours for a 9.0

He's not trying to say the thing will last 3 hours under use before people start attacking that.. he's trying to show the value of buying a 3.0 two pack and a single 9.0 OVER buying a single 5.0 battery at retail prices.

Not something to buy for framing.. high end finish work, custom bookcases and decorative carpentry - if that was my field - I might consider swallowing the cost.. keep in mind - youre "basically" getting 2 things here. A shop worthy miter saw station, and a portable set up that you can break down and take with you..

Also - that's the most expensive kit I posted.. they make add on kits for other available stands

Speaking of miter saws. I gotta say - I think Makita killed everyone else with thier 36v saw.. thing just looks absolutely perfect, and not a flaw in the design at all.. I hope Milwaukee rips off their design if they come out with an updated saw.

No but some of these threads have got me thinking lately and it seems like TTI is doing themselves a major disservice by not having some cross over in their 3 power tool family. Lets say like Milwaukee and Ridgid batteries could interchange so Milwaukee owners can use some of cool Ridgid releases without having to buy a different charger and different batteries and for Ridgid to power up a Milwaukee product. And for Ryobi well sell an adapter to use slide packs style battery on those green tools but not the other way around

I think the type of stand you should get depends on what you need it for.. is it gonna be moved around or just stay in a shop? Is it just for trim, or heavier lumber?

Yea a corded adapter for the tripods is something I said they shoulda made a long time ago.. even a corded adapter for cordless tools - but that would prevent people from making bigger purchases so I don't think it'll ever happen.. neither will cross compatibility with battery platforms.. why do that when they can get you to buy other batteries and chargers.. although it would be nice for us.. lol

There isn’t anything in rigid to make me buy it over Milwaukee but Dewalt has me strongly considering multi platform. And Ryobi has neat gimmicky tools that I want like the cordless glue gun.

TTI knows that if you are really tempted, buying into another battery system won't stop you, and it is extra revenue for them.


it would be just as easy to duplicate all the tools across all the platforms.

for me it makes sense to have 5.0x2 for a couple more bucks. same size, maybe slightly heavier. also 2.0 instead of same sized 1.5

The mid-torque is awesome, perfect balance of size/power. I keep it in my SUV with a 5.0 battery. The high torque model is a beast, but more power than I needed, and extra weight as well.

Time for another question on impact driver vs impact wrench: I own a 2453 M12 Fuel Impact Driver, and sometimes I use it with a socket adapter for small things. It works pretty well for the occasional use, but I'm wondering if a 2454 3/8 impact wrench would be better for my uses (mainly automotive stuff, and I have a 2767 high torque for bigger stuff. I'm going to be rebuilding an engine or two soon, so will just using a socket adapter be good enough? Are there other alternatives I should be looking at?
