So we will have the 3/8 mid torque, 3/8 compact, and 3/8 stubby which will be stronger than the compact. So is the plain Jane 3/8 fuel compact due for an update or will it just be phased out?

Probably an update, eventually. It is the Gen 2 version - the Gen 3 1/4" hex impact just came out and I would imagine a gen 3 3/8" drive would not be a stretch. Hard to say what the torque output would be. The Gen 1 was 200 ft lbs and the Gen 2 210 ft lbs. The Gen 1 1/4" hex had a maximum of 1600 in lbs, with the Gen 2 having 1800, and the Gen 3 having 2000 in lbs. If they're getting 250 ft lbs in the stubby 12v, I would guess an 18v impact should produce more than that. I'm more interested in the minaturization than the power increase. At what point do you break 3/8" impact sockets?

My guess is that there won't be a gen 3 1/2" compact gun (like the 2755). I would think the 1/2" mid torque fills that role.

I'm not interested in the 3/8" mid torque impact wrench at all.

Most "good" 3/8 pneumatic impacts are rated for more than 400 ft-lbf so the battery units have a long way to go before running in to the limits of the sockets/anvils.

Wish they would take the 1/2" mid torque and put a 3/8 anvil in it - I think someone did this on their own and sold one copy to someone here.

Awesome, Thanks - Somehow I missed that!

I'm going to have too many 3/8 impacts. I already have an M18 Fuel, the M18 1/4" hex has a 3/8" anvil in it 99% of the time, the M12 stubby that is coming out is on my wishlist and now this one.

Maybe I should sell...WTF am I thinking, I'm not selling anything. I'll just have all 4 of them with 4 different size sockets on each one.

The tool boxes are usually only replenished around the holidays. Also can't remember if the Gen2 meets the min steel gauge thickness not to be subject to the massive tool box tariffs, but Gen1 definitely did not. They have that massive Gen3 coming out for this holiday season, maybe there will be a smaller Gen3 also.

The Gen 2 are so much better than the Gen 1. I wonder why they just disappeared from stores?

Any details on this Gen3? I don't think I've seen any. I need a new toolbox badly.

It's a 52" deep monster with electronic locks and other new bells and whistles, think Toolguyd had a post NPS story on it.

I'm upset because I have the prior 5 box versions and don't think I can fit the new one without garage Purge and major rearrangement.

Well in that case I hope they have a shallower one...because I don't think I can fit one that big. That's what she said...

In preparation for the 1/2" M12 Stubby... I ordered my 1/2" drive Nano Metric short sockets from Astro Pneumatic. I had a credit... got the set for 80 cents.

Your late to the party. I bought a set of gearwrench 3/8" shallow and deep impacts in May in anticipation of getting one. The waiting is killing me. I've been using my 1/4" hex m12 for some stuff and it's ok on a lot of stuff. But there is some stuff that I could really use the shorter length, and others that the one I have now and others that it doesn't have quite enough power to break free.

Used the Gen2 blower in real world this past weekend. Hate the lock on button. If you lock on and keep your hand there it easily unlocks, if you keep your hand back a bit it is uncomfortable to hold. I think they intended you would hold only the back section of the handle. Unfortunately I think it was designed in China not Wisconsin therefore spec'd to small Chinese hands.

I got the gen 2 blower, compared it to my gen 1.

Its maybe 10% more powerful, max, its not that noticeable.
The body is much smaller, lighter, and more balanced with a 9.0 on it.
It does sound a ton more powerful, much louder, but sound means chit.
Will have to see if run time is any different.

Without great deal I got, woulda prolly waited for gen 3 or backpack M18 lol.

On a Desert Racing Trophy Truck...

One doesn't skimp...

Are people buying and using the Milwaukee impact wrench boots for the mid torque? or is a dirty and scarred tool and $32 in your pocket the preferred option?

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0714J69Y4/?tag=atomicindus08-20

I’m thinking that spending $32 on the boot to protect a $114 tool (ebay) isn’t worth it. I’m usually the guy to buy a case or protector for things.

I don't see the point myself. They're pretty tough as is. And if it gets scratched up I don't really care. It's a tool, I'm happy as long as it does it's job. And looking pretty isn't part of the job.

I have never bought any either and yea my nosecones get scratched...almost immediately it seems too! :lol_hitti

If I was **** enough I would probably hit it with some spray paint, I wish Milwaukee offered the matching color in a can

The white lettering also seems to come off easy. I touch up with paint pen every so often when I do a thorough job of cleaning many of tools.

I don't use a boot. The housing on mine is best to hell from being wedged up against grinder blades during removal. It doesn't affect the performance so it doesn't bother me.

I don’t use a boot but I don’t try to keep my tools looking like they have never been used. I am also not a mechanic so they don’t get full time use. And I am reasonably careful. If I ever find that I need boots, I’ll start buying them, but I have not yet.

It's $23 at Tooltopia. Shipping is free if you need a few more items (over $75). This is the first boot I've bought. I'm not a mechanic but I am clumsy. I really got it more to protect the vehicle paint or expensive wheels.

They run around $30-35 on eBay, and occasionally they run those 15-25% off sales. I still haven't pulled the trigger on one, but I probably will eventually.

Unlikely, aside from pre order deals, takes at least one cycle before New things available are in promos. New promos out today and some run till end of October. Guess I am not getting the chainsaw for my birthday this month.

Saw gen 2 circ saw kit with 12.0 in HD yesterday.

Wonder if ACME or anyone is gonna run a deal on them soon... I will bite at $159 before too much longer if I don't come across a better price soon.

Man I can't wait for that M12 stubby 3/8. I haven't bought any new tools in literally probably a year, maybe more.. but I am buying one of those things.

I have a 3/8" M18 fuel impact that I will probably get rid of. No reason to have both IMO.

That's the one I'm buying as well..... I also have the 3/8" Fuel Impact too. I'm going to try the new one out for a bit before I decide what to do with the old one. Very good chance I'll give it to Dad.

Can you do some review on the the saw. The gen 1 ***** pretty bad. Hopefully the new one can be benefited from the new battery cell platform (2170).

Oh I didn't buy it, first new gen thing I have seen in store and with 12.0. $399 is outrageous for that kit.

On a side note, a TGTBT order finally got killed, I knew it would. Rep who called commended me on my creativity, I should get a bug reward from them lol.

Yeah, compared to the $250 or less with the 1st gen saw & 9AH battery. Was $207 w/ 20% off from AcmeTools.

I'd get it when there's a 15-20% off sale. $320 wouldn't be too bad. Retail battery prices are insane, that's for sure.

The gen 1 isn't a bad saw at all, it's one of the best reviewed cordless saws

Ive come to the conclusion Milwaukee needs to make another m12 led light.. you know the new m12 rocket light coming - i want that, about 1/10th the size.. a table top version.. its occurred to me they dont make anything that’s like that old dewalt 18v nicad gooseneck light that you can sit down and aim the head anywhere, especially down on the table you’re working on. There’s nothing to sit on a workbench that’s stable enough, tall enough, and articulate enough that you can place it next to what you’re working on, on a table, and aim the light down and over what you’re working on. PATENT PENDING...

I think their M12 LED lantern light covers that pretty well. I don't see a real need for a small tripod base on top of a workbench.
