If I had to only pick one drive size for impact wrench+impact sockets, it would definitely be 1/2" - you can get 1/2" impact sockets down to 8mm (maybe lower, I know my SK set goes from 8mm to 24mm). Of course, this is Garagejournal - so the correct answer to get them both. :bounce:

I own only 1/2-inch sockets. I use them with a step-up anvil adapter on my 3/8-inch ratchets and 3/8-inch torque wrenches.

For less demanding tasks, I use my 1/4-inch hex drivers (screwdriver, drill, or impact) with nut drivers that have 1/4 inch hex stems. I've even abandoned my chucked drill and 1/2-inch drill bits for 1/4-inch hex drill/driver and hex bits.

In this way, I have managed to standardize on just two mounts: 1/4-inch hex and 1/2-inch anvil.

In my car, I keep a 3/4-inch breaker bar and a set of 3/4-inch-anvil sockets to help remove lug nuts from any vehicle.

I hear Milwaukee is offering free cases of toilet paper with every kit purchase. They are also selling a cordless version of the three sea shells.

Are the cordless sea shells m12 or m18? No wait, don't tell me, they run on the new MX battery platform right?

Has anyone witnessed the new Milwaukee Framing Nailer? It's said that its power exceeds DEWALT (and even Passload?), it would be exciting to see it sink nails in LVL. If only they made it even lighter, this way pretty much all framers would use the battery nailer in lieu of air (cost is an issue but so is the total price of air gun + hose + pressure tank )

Finally did the packout external USB mod, messed up the hole a little but you cant tell, this was the only logical spot. Nothing is permanent and buying a new door would return to normal. Just 4 screws to remove the door.

Looks great! If you plan to use it outside, you might want to consider rotating the cover 180° so that it shields the connector from light rain.

It will never see the outside lol, I thought about cover orientation, most likley cord will be going up therefore I have the cover open downwards. But yeah your thinking is smart if possible rain. Though this weekend I was putting my beer on top of the radio

Anyone notice they are updating the OPE kits to include an 8.0 now, makes sense to kill off the 9.0. I wish someone would put the 8.0 & 9.0 through proper load testing to see if any difference. I think the 9.0 would have a slight edge but not material.

The cells in the 8.0 (Samsung 40T) when pushed slightly beyond their continuous rated output = 40 amps aka 80 amps per 8.0 pack.

The cells in the 9.0 (Samsung 30Q) when pushed slighted beyond their continuous rated output = 20 amps aka 60 amps per 9.0 pack.

Theoretically the 8.0 should not get nearly as hot (very much unlike the 9.0 in the trimmer and blower) and will have longer runtime under typical OPE use conditions. It's a good replacement because it's virtually the same size physically (just barely shorter in height). The only practical area I could see the 9.0 eking out longer run time is for a low demand application like in a light. Otherwise the 8.0 is superior in basically every major facet.

I have to send in (2) of my (3) 9.0s AGAIN because the cells are out of balance. This has already happened to me twice before. Either the chips in the packs don't do any balancing at all or the cells used in the 9.0s are just not up for demanding power tool use.

Well I wanted to buy a multi charger but they are just so dang expensive. And don’t want to rapid charge everything. So I got thinking and this is what I care up with. Two rapid chargers and 2 regular charges. Plus can charge my M12 stuff too. Made the rapid chargers opposite so I can fit two 12ah on there at the same time. Used a heavy duty power strip. Custom cut the plywood to fit the Packout crate that allows me to throw it in with the rest of my Packout stuff. We shall see how it works. The plywood will get a coat of red spray paint tomorrow.

I don't charge my M12 batteries on the M18 chargers that also charge the M12 batteries.Bad connection everytime with the green and red lights flashing.Nothing wrong with the batteries and charge fine in the M12 chargers. The fuel line has a computer in them, can tell and store information when the real deal and aftermarket batteries are put in the tool.Milwaukee pulls this up when the tool is sent for repair voiding the warranty if the aftermarket batteries are installed.

Looks great. Is there any chance a thinner sheet at the bottom of the chargers could be used? Or is that size fitted to a groove in the PkOut box?

I suppose you probably could go 3/8” plywood. I went with 3/4 nice plywood because I had a scrap and to mount the screws for the chargers. If the charger screws are too short or the plywood is too thin the screws will not hold. Today I notched by the hand holes to make it easier to carry. All the plywood is beveled to sit flush against the bottom and the sides. Also for anybody wanting to do this check your measurements in all directions. The crates have a slight taper towards the top. Smaller in the base then the top. Here is the final picture with it notched and painted.

Looks great. Any concern about limited air flow over chargers to dissipate heat?

I wondered about that myself. Have a small computer fan I thought about putting in there but I am gonna wait and see how it goes.

Does Milwaukee make a cross plane laser level? I need something for different projects around the house.

Haven't even heard rumors of one. You're better off going Bosch or Dewalt there, even if Milwaukee comes out with one I doubt it will beat the Bosch or Dewalt equivalent.

I can’t believe Milwaukee hasn’t entered the laser level market!!

We use so many plumb, line and rotary lasers on commercial job sites they could be tapping into a huge market.

Toolnut is having a great deal right now, with up to $150 off.

Just ordered the 10" dual bevel slider miter saw for $350, normally $500.

I agree. I converted everything from DeWalt to Milwaukee. Only DeWalt tool I have is my green laser. Nice quality and works extremely well for the price point. Can’t go wrong with a DeWalt laser IMHO.

Me either. Kinda weird. Milwaukee has tool coverage in so many areas. Even some weird niche areas if you ask me. But then some of the more obvious ones it is not even in the game.

Very cool! I did something similar, and turned one of the drawers in my box into a “power drawer.” I installed 2 Milwaukee rapid chargers, a DeWalt DCB112 (the DCB115 was too “tall” in a vertical orientation), a porter cable rapid charger, and a Nitecore D2 for rechargeable cells. Not mobile like yours, but perfect for my use:

I bought the right angle 1/4K die grinder and under hood light based on many comments here.

The light is great...is anyone else having issues with the die grinder stalling out, even during some basic easy disc grinding. It starts back up when I cycle the switch...but it seems pretty weak...even with fully charged 4.0 battery

i have noticed this and i have 2 of them. even with 6.0s it will do it if i work it a moderate amount and it seems to be only if i have it WOT , if i have near max speed but trigger not all the way down it seems fine.

maybe has a circuit protection when its all the way depressed?

Put my 1/2" Stubby to the test last night as I had to replace the lower wishbone on my BMW. I know I am using the 2aH battery, but was not impressed with it. The thing couldn't even take the lug nuts off the vehicle which were torqued to 100ft-lbs (by me) about 1.5months ago.

Does the battery honestly make that much of a difference? The battery was fully charged, using a 1/2" deep impact socket (need to due to wheels in order to get to the lug).

It does in my experience. I have the 3/8 M12 stubby and use an XC pack with it. I have no trouble pulling off lugs torqued to 100ft/lbs. I recently replaced the original rear strut in my uncle's 2004 Toyota camry and used the 3/8 for the job. It took the strut knuckle bolts out without issue. Definitely use an XC pack with it, it makes a huge difference.
