I don't understand why they need to cover every base in M12 & M18, they probably should of just made a V2 M18. I think of the M12 blower which is so weak, sure its small and light but its so underpowered as a blower. I have the old M18 shop and the V2 leaf, I think the M18 shop on low is more powerful. So I see the M12 fan being the same.
I agree on the M12 blower, but the M12 fans look like just the ticket for camping for me.

A comparison of the M18 M12 specs is interesting. M18 18mph & 284cfm, M12 14mph & 400cfm. Seems illogical, if the M12 truely does that then on high your gonna get less than 2 hours of runtime, speeds 1 & 2 might be useless, speed 1 definitely on the 16hr run time estimate with a 6.0. The sizes between them is very similar, M12 only good if a person is only in the M12 platform, or the advanced mounting methods is necessary.

I am now expecting a M18 V2 to come out this year... 25mph & 750cfm

I'd take a v2 of the m18..... but there was some info earlier this year suggesting a back pack blower m18 is in the works.

Yeah now that I thought about it I would take a V2 M18 fan also with double the power and M12 mounting options, and it will be AC compatible with a proper prong connection for any extension cord so Derek doesn't have to modify it.

The idea of a backpack blower is nice, don't need it anymore since the move from the wooded east. But lets say its M18x2 and comparable to a 35-40cc gas version, you willing to pay $800+ for it as a kit or $500 bare tool?

Here's a prediction/warning, if you really really want the mower best to buy it ASAP once available because not on deal I almost guarentee it's $1099 by the end of summer and wouldn't hold my breath on a bare tool option until early 2023.

Im not in on the mower personally, however the blower yes...... I live in a heavily wooded area and actual dont have much grass due to all the shade of the trees. the flip side is I could leaf blow every day once fall starts and not clear it up. I basically am wasting my time till mid way through fall. then I need the power to push it all to the road. blessing I live in the city limits in Tennessee so the city will come and **** up the leaves if I can get them there.

Ive been using a back pack blower while my wife uses the milwaukee. I have a small gas push mower but I have to keep a 50:1 can for the weeder and back pack. I ditched the weeder this year cause I got tired of fighting them....... blower has been great but its getting to the point of likely starting nickle and dime me to death with replacing items. ive got 6 m18 batteries as is so id be fine buying a bare tool if it kept me out of keeping a second fuel can just for one piece of equipment. im working on getting the yard seeded this year and once the grass is in good shape ill probably pay to have it mowed...... so I could get buy with just the blowers at that point.

Thats me though, I know some wouldnt want to give up the 800 plus for a full setup.

Any more word on the new M12 fan?
It has the same switch as the M18... which is seriously lacking. The slowest speed is NOT SLOW ENOUGH and the fan is extremely loud for what it is. I would skip any Milwaukee fan. I have the RIDGID which I use almost daily... it has a TRUE variable speed dial and is pleasantly quiet at most selected speeds.

All that said... I am a serious M12 tool collector. I WILL NOT purchase the M12 fan after reviewing the videos on Youtube. My M18 fan sits in the spare bedroom collecting dust.

You know, I may have been the first, and mine did come out pretty good, but I have to say @darkzero ‘s take on it is a step above

I’ll preface this by saying I know nothing about sockets and why some are impact rated and others not, I believe it's due to how their made and what resists the forces of impact wrenches/drivers and which are more prone to stress fracture?

My M12 impact (2554) has a friction ring on the anvil(?) of the 3/8", and I am finding that my Ko-Ken Z- sockets are tough to put on and remove. The ring gets in the way.

Is this normal? Wrong sockets for impact is my guess.

I think I need to be using https://kokenusa.com/ko-ken-13012m-52-6-3-8-sq-drive-inhex-sockets/ instead of https://kokenusa.com/ko-ken-z-series-3010mz-50-8-3-8-square-drive-inhex-bit-socket-50mm/

I was lazy and just took a Milwaukee thing with a big enough red area and had the paint store scan to color match.

So I had some time tonight and ended up painting my battery holders, thought the color would be a little darker but I think it turned out pretty good

I think it came out great. The color looks basically dead on when compared to the M12 battery. How do you think it would look if you did a base coat with some hammer tone or maybe crinkle coat first? I'm kinda partial to a crinkle coat finish, it is my favorite finish on aluminum valve covers.

That’s too bad, I love my M18 fans, I use them to push heat from the wood stove upstairs. However, they definitely need anew, infinitely adjustable dial.

My kids shot my m18 power source with the hose and now it doesn't work :(

Don't remember it being on when it was shot. Battery is still good. Wonder if the outlets on the top is a bad thing. Guess it isn't as tough as the drills, etc. which I can't say I have never left out in the rain.

You might get lucky if you toss it in a tub or bag with rice for a day or so. Probably not but you might. Also, its new enough to warranty.

The packout shelves.... oh man. They are proud of those. I'm probably going to scrap most of my packout at some point in the future but if those drawers ever go on sale, I will probably pick up one or two.

Will definitely let it dry out and hope for the best. My whacker with the bad switch somehow fixed itself.

$299 for the 2684-20 (5” backing plate), $329 for the 6” 2685-20. 2684 has a higher RPM range vs the 2685:
