Went out to use the corded string trimmer the other day, only to find out it had been loaned, subsequently broken in some fashion, and not returned.

So I did the right thing and upgraded to the m18 unit with a bonus 5.0 battery from HD. Cordless is super cool, and it's got plenty of power. Rapid charger is a cool perk of getting the kit too.
I used mine today, have the edger and the articulating hedge cutter. Battery lasts a LONG time too!

Please post your progress... perhaps as a thread of its own. I would love to see it. I have 3D printed a number of "things" for my M18 fan ... that includes a holder for the power adapter etc. I almost did what others here have done ... internalize the power brick and use an actual plug.
Will do. This will be motivation to bump it up on the priority list.

Ordered the M18 rivet . Didn't have a immediate need for it, but I haven't bought any Red in awhile and needed my fix.

Noticed their *high CRI* inspection light. Not yet, but I'm all in if they offer similar flood type with AC/DC plugs for a Milwaukee Auto Detail Light setup station

Packouts are nice. I'd be concerned about the weight of the 3 drawer loaded with tools. Not sure how you'd make it "portable" slight tangent-I've switched all my mobile stuff to the Dewalt Tstak system, and the further myself and co-workers get into it we are opting for all drawers whenever possible. Depending upon your tool size/needs ,all drawers ,and a cart may work for you. That said Milwaukee does make a 4 wheel dolly for the packout, that may fit your needs. https://www.milwaukeetool.com/Products/Storage-Solutions/PACKOUT/48-22-8410

I'm not sure I need my truck tool box to be on wheels, or "mobile" at all really. When I'm using the tools in it, the box will likely just be sitting on the tailgate.

I did go ahead and order the 3 drawer box from Home Depot. They have the 3 drawer box and deep organizer for $224, and there's a current special that includes a packout crate. I have no use for a $50 crate, but I'm pretty sure I can return it for about $41 and that will give me a net of $183 for my toolbox and deep organizer.

Well it wasn't a bad bearing but the #1 phillips screws holding the motor to the housing that were rattling around mine after they completely fell out.

  1. Remove 9 X T15 Torx screws on the rear of the fan (torx screwdriver is ideal) - 3 screws hold on the rear motor cap and 6 hold the actual fan housing together.
  2. Used a punch to loosen the fan from the motor - in hindsight I was a little too heavy handed and broke a small piece off the fan blade itself. It seemed to be press fit onto the motor.
  3. Used blue loctite on the #1 phillips screws that hold the motor to the housing
  4. While I was in it I put some 3 and 1 oil on the shaft, motor is sealed
  5. Reassembled and enjoyed the silence of a quiet m18 fan

Yeah I'm keeping my eye on that one. They have made a slew of detail oriented products this year with the light, buffer and all the shop vac attachments.

I'm hoping for one of the rocket pod style lights with cri lighting. Would be great for paint correction rather then just base inspection with the hand held

3 Rupes 21/mini/ibrid and Boss 15 and 21 and a rotary somewhere.......
Haven't paid attention to their shop vacs attachment...my Mini Miele Nozzle Crevice set is king for the interior...

But with the buffer and inspection light, it seems like are at least entering'entertaining the market

I'm planning to buy the m12 shop vac, but I want to wait until I can get a deal on the kit that comes with the 6.0 battery, or perhaps one of their promotions where I'd get a free battery with the purchase of the bare tool. I definitely don't want to pay the full $199 for the kit when I know I can get the tool and battery for a little over $100 if I wait for a good promo.

I see the bare tool on sale for $100 right now but I only have 2.0 batteries and I don't expect to want to buy any other tools any time soon so I think I will wait to buy the shop vac until I'm able to take advantage of a promo that gets me an xc battery for free or nearly free.

Is there any way to predict when/where they will have another promo like what I'm waiting for? apparently they won't be doing it for father's day

I believe I got my m12 shop vac for the same price as the regular bare tool but it came with a 6.0 battery. I think it was 129. It was a special package deal at HD.

that's the deal I'm talking about. or the buy 1 get 1.
from all the googling I did, I found a site slickdeals.net which shows that homedepot had that sale in March of this year, and in September of last year.
I was hoping someone would be able to say that they repeat the same deals every 6 months, or something like that, but idk if they are really that predictable or not.

If anyone knows what's going to be "on sale" at the orange box, that person isn't a plain old pleb in the aisles... or even a store manager.

When I worked there, no one knew what was going to be "on sale" until it happened.

If there were special buys, many times the displays showed up wrapped in black plastic or inside of a cardboard box.

The people that know are the buyers in Atlanta, and they are probably working under a NDA.

Picked up the handcart as a impulse buy. Which got me thinking....

It would be interesting if Red made a car dolly creeper / organizer for detailers....

I had a Kreepstool years ago. Ended giving it away. Just seeing how the packets -clip- into the handcart, etc....and the mumblings above on how Red is entering the detailing segment.

where can I get one of these pallets?!?
I don't know where/who exactly but customer returns (by the pallets) are usually sold to liquidation companies & then they hold auctions where you bid on them. There are so many business that buy up Amazon returns & resell. And as you know now lots of YT'rs that make videos about their "scores". I'm guessing HD & Lowes does this too? My old work we used to buy them from Best Buy. Search "customer return pallets".

Although my wife would kill me. This would be to give my fellow Milwaukee addicts their fixes.

edit: looks like most of the Home Depot Milwaukee pallets are in Indiana which kind of makes the logistics hard being in CA. Anyone local?

I just got one myself. Was a bit underwhelmed in the first few uses, but have a Whiteside bit waiting for it. Thinking a worn out crappy bit was my issue. Sorry not very good input yet.

I have had one for a while now…and love it. I was a bit worried that it would be gutless…nope! I have had a Bosch pony for years…won’t be needing it anymore…will make you a good deal on that.

the handiness of no cord or friggin’ great too. HD had it for 99 bucks at one point…

M18 2-gal Vac Hose Adapter (another damn I need a 3d printer already project)

I'm happy with my 0880 wet/dry vac (especially for the HD hack price I paid) but I hate that MW made it with a proprietary hose nozzle size. They say it's 1-1/4" but it doesn't fit any of the 1-1/4" nozzles I have from various manufacturers. The MW is oversized.

So I thought someone has had to have run into this & makes an adapter. Searched etsy & ebay, couldn't find anyone selling 3d printed adapters. So I had to make one myself.

After:

Luckily it still fits inside for storage.

Here's how I made it if anyone is interested.

First I found this "Power Tool Adapter" that has steps for 3 different sizes. Paid a little more getting it from HD online but at least I could return it in store if it wouldn't work out for me. Well none of the stepped sizes fit any of the dust ports on my power tools nor did it even fit the 2 MW attachments that came with my vac. Whatever, plan was to cut a taper in place of the steps anyway.
20220602_150458.jpg

So this thing is meant to screw on the hose but the stock one is glued on so you have to cut it off. I wasn't sure if this thing was even gonna work & I didn't want to cut the stock one off in case it didn't. Plus this stupid piece of plastic cost me $17! Back to HD it went.
20220602_150524.jpg

Found this 4 piece adapter kit at Lowes for $9. Except my local Lowes didn't have it in stock. But I did find the 2 pieces out of the kit that I wanted loose in the bin. Spoke to an employee & then customer service, they sold em to me for $4.50.
20220604_183002.jpg

Cut out the middle section that I needed from the tapered adapter.
20220608_202617.jpg
20220608_204325.jpg

Glued it into the other adapter. Luckily I looked inside the stepped adapter & saw the #5 recycle sign which meant these are made of polypropylene. Mentioning in case anyone wants to do this, most common glues won't stick to PP, I was planning to just use epoxy. You'll need a glue that will bond to polypropylene or polyethylene.

Set up the compound slide on the lathe to match the MW nozzle taper.
20220624_155021.jpg

Bored the taper to fit.
20220624_161516.jpg
20220624_164334.jpg

And done. Can barely tell there's an insert.
20220624_193933.jpg20220624_211858.jpg

Wish MW would have made it the "correct" size to begin with like everyone else so I didn't have to bother doing this!

Unless this is old....did you guys see the M12 stick light (folding work light). I dunno but the $20 harbor freight still looks better given it's size/profile

My local HD had the 450 Lumens LED Spot/Flood Headlamp (2-Pack) on the clearance rack. There was 2 of them in a box that was marked $5.97 but the label said it was for saw blades. Clearly a mistake. But.......I decided to give it a try. I grabbed one pack and headed to the checkout. When it rang up at $47.99 (or whatever it was) I told a "sales associate" that is was supposed to be on clearance. They got a manager to have a look and reluctantly gave it to me for $5.97. I figured if it wasn't me it would be someone else.
