Has anyone used the 3/8 or 1/4 extensively yet? I know from experience that air ratchet heads would wear out long before the bottom end of the tool would. I use to go through air ratchets like candy when I was in the body business. Tried Blue Point and the cheap ones from the flea markets, no difference. (pre internet days)
I really hate the thought of buying an electric ratchet to only have the head prematurely wear out.

The heads are replaceable, if that makes you feel any better

I've used mine for probably 18 months of wrenching pretty hard most weekends and mine is pretty well worn out at this point. It will slip if I push it hard now.

I expect you'll wear the heads on one of these out, but I also expect it will last long enough to be well worth the cost

I haven't rebuilt the head on mine yet, I haven't decided whether to just buy a new one or go the rebuild route. The 2454+ratchet combo from home depot is looking like a nice option.

has anyone ponied up and got the 2787-22 mag drill? expensive as hell and for about half the price you can have a corded one . but this one looks to be more compact.

Picked up one of the $99 M12 hacksaw/drill kits from HD the other night. I don't need the drill, batteries, bag or charger so I'll sell that stuff off and end up with the hacksaw for free.

Speaking of the m12 ratchets, how strong ARE the heads on them? Im actually nervous breaking bolts loose with mine when i do brakes and stuff.. I find myself using a regular ratchet to do that and then swapping over, which basically defeats the point I guess.. Should I be ok with anything a regular ratchet would handle?

I have been using mine daily for the last 3-4 years. I have had no problems breaking bolts loose up to 5/8. It has held up great and if it quit today I would go buy another.

Just picked up the M12 ratchet last week. Nice power tool that looks good parked next to the M18 impact wrenches but I'm not sure its really needed since I don't mind spinning a high quality ratchet. It comes with a 5-yr warranty so torque away with it.

Hey, I am committed... To finding unrealistic scenarios that 'justify' getting tools I really don't need...
Same here. There was a time, for many years, I used all of my hand and power tools on a daily basis. Fortunately, it's on a "want-to" basis now.

I just wish I had more of the "want-to" time now. Life's ironic that way, I suppose. Hell, back then, I couldn't afford to buy them so easily either.

Picked these up last night to sell. My guy forgot to bring the light he has for me. Should be picking it up today. $130 for the tripod stand M18 LED light isn't half bad.

My 3/8" M12 FUEL impact kit and free 1/4" ratchet also came in earlier this week!

I also started filling the backpack I got two weeks ago!

How bright are those tripod lights?

They put out a lot of light and are well thought out. You can't go wrong with their job site lights.

I love going to the milwaukee service center and talking trash to those guys all the time about how they need to stop making hand tools and start wearing teal shirts. Great service over there.

Do you know if these lights are better than the Costco Snap-on LED?

Ryobi has a pretty decent LED work light modeled after a 500W halogen lamp. The frosted lens really softens the LED glare.

They also have a HID spotlight.

they are rated at having the same lumens, but ive read/seen that the lux is also important.. for the life of me i cant figure out why Milwaukee didnt make this model dual powered for both battery and a/c power options. the smaller milwaukee model is, and its also 3000 lumen..

how did you get the light stand so cheap?

i think the Ryobi is 1700 lumen, and also has both battery and a/c power options.. doesnt seem to be built to withstand a fall though, but still seems well worth the price..

my $50 investment.. $29 s/o light, and $19 craftsman tripod.. instead of the Milwaukee light for home i think its a better buy.. if you really wanted, you can buy a jump pack with a 110 power outlet to run it, and still be about $100 under the price of the Milwaukee at retail.. i expect that tripod light will drop in price quickly.. its a little insane for most people..

Lux and lumen are both measures of brightness.

You may be thinking of CRI, Color Rendering Index.

I don't know the specs, but the Milwaukee LED lights seem to do quite well- colors appear natural and there is no harsh blue tint. They aren't good for video lights though.

If you buy LED bulbs, you want to see "full spectrum" on the package.

The guy I go through gave me a deal since I bought seven 2897-22 kits and seven 2763-20 1/2" impacts. He was going to give me a 3/8" Fuel impact for a good price but I saw the light and asked what he could do on it. Told him I had $130 and he said he would do that for me.

Why not just get a telescoping contractor's tripod and mount a light on it? Seems like less money, more versatile, etc etc.

For most people I would say that's the better option. For me personally, if I'm somewhere with no or limited power I don't want to fight to use a plug on the generator that someone else may need to use periodically. I have a bunch of M18 batteries right now so it's easier to use one of those and not worry about being held up or holding someone else up. Plus then I don't have to worry about someone tripping over my cord either. I also don't have to wait for someone to bring a generator if it's not there already. That and I have an obvious power tool problem/addiction that forces me to buy things I may never even use. I never had any Milwaukee stuff until the end of October. My HVAC buddy let me use his and I slowly became addicted over the last 2 months.
At this point my 4 year old son is getting more use out of the light than I am. It seems the addiction is passed on through the genes and he thinks power tools are the coolest things ever.

Sorry, I wasn't clear; I meant using the cordless lamps on the telescoping tripod?

The other M18 lamps? If you mean those that's not a bad idea if it will be decently stable. I'd still prefer this one. Although if I paid $250 it might be a different story.

Yeah, surely the other M18 lamps surely have a tripod mount base, no?

Or is Milwaukee trying to make each specific product the least versatile to make you buy them all?

I don't believe they do. I know one of the flood lights has a spot to hang it on a screw or set it on some conduit. Not sure about others though. It wouldn't surprise me if they don't though.
