Yeah I just started getting Milwaukee stuff in the last two months. I had old Dewalt and Ridgid tools that we're all 10+ years old and all of my batteries took a **** finally. Figured that was a good excuse to try something else. Got the new brushless Ridgid stuff too because I like the job site blower and wanted the LSA.

How did those few "non red" things get in there? :lol_hitti

Unfortunately mistakes were made... Lol JK I just hadn't moved my other stuff over yet. That was just the stuff taking up room on the shelves. I still have to clear a spot for the box to reside lol.

Those are just sweet boxes gonna have to save my allowance and get one. The more i see them the more i like them.

Beefy too. Thing's over 400 pounds put together. I was a little concerned because I saw some reviews where theirs arrived damaged. The cardboard outside of mine was a little smooshed in places but the box is good aside from a tiny scratch on one drawer that's about the size of a pen head.

I love the original Fastback knife. The Fastback II is a little too wide (adds blade storage), and the plastic on the other full blade knives feels cheap. On top of that, utility blades are much easier to swap out than sharpening a blade.

You guys got some real clean Milwaukee tools. I'm jealous.

Mine aren't as pretty... mine've gotten in fights with timbers and foundations and pickup trucks and engine blocks... fat girls have stepped on 'em, and they've had beer spilled on 'em... they've slid off the fenders of my truck and landed on the driveway, but they keep on tickin', and loyalty is worth something in my book. All of these tools I've used at one time or another on my vehicles.

I bought my first Milwaukee tool—a 3/8ths corded drill—back in 1986. I told myself I deserved just ONE nice drill. Well… you can see what happened over the years.

Here’s the long and the short of it:

162202981.jpg

I traded a Rockwell portable band saw and $20 or $30, for this Milwaukee 5300 Rotary Hammer. I got it in 1990. It’s a ’60’s model—notice there’s no double insulation... except for the soles of yer shoes. The guy I got it from said it had only been used a few times, and judging from it’s condition, I believe that was true. It came with two carbide percussion bits and a chisel point and a demo point. I have added a few more percussion bits since that time. The one mounted in the tool is 1&1/2 inches diameter. It has three settings—Rotation with no hammering, rotation with light hammering and rotation with heavy hammering. For the demo or chisel point I switch it to heavy hammering and use an adaptor. Using the chisel point with this Rotary Hammer I've knocked off Chevy frame rivets in no time flat.

Also in the above picture is my close-quarters drill. This one has a problem in that it’s become just about impossible to reverse rotation from CW to CCW. So I just keep it on CW. They changed the design after this model and came up with a different paddle and reversing switch.

Below is a picture of that first Milwaukee 3/8ths drill I bought in ‘86. Notice the dark bands on the aluminum housing? That drill went missing for 6 months. It was in a rolled up blue tarp in the back of my work truck, where went through a few downpours, car washes etc. I thought I’d left it on a job and kicked myself. But one day I decided to clean out the back of the truck, and there it was under the tarp. Those dark bands were lines of white oxidation from moisture running down it for such a long time. At first I thought the drill was junk, but I let it dry and plugged it in—it ran like a champ and except for a pair of brushes has run perfectly ever since. Ya can’t kill these things.

162202982.jpg

Here’s a lineup of some of my Milwaukee tools. All the boxes except the Rotary Hammer box I bought new. Missing is the ubiquitous Sawzall box--it's just too beat-up to show. It's rusty and kicked in and has had lumber dropped on it, so I left it in the shop.

That is my second Milwaukee router. Hispanic gang members broke into my shop when I lived in Los Angeles, and took my first one, along with a Milwaukee D-handle 1/2” H.D. drill, an old Porter Cable locomotive sander, my old-style Delta Tenoning jig and (of course) my jobsite boombox. They also took some ahhh… “artistic” photos I’d taken of my girlfriend. (blush). But the dopes left behind my collection of old Stanley planes that were worth way more than the power tools. I know who took them, because two groups of the bums came back the next day, looking for more. Unfortunately… or maybe fortunately I was unarmed. Cops couldn’t do much to help me. But I did move out of that shop pretty darn fast. It was in West L.A. in a mostly good area. I moved to Missouri in ’98.

The impact wrench is an elbow and shoulder saver that’s fer sure. I use it on lug nuts and disassembling engines. It has come in REAL handy. Got it from a place that sold Milwaukee factory returns. They had 4-5 of these at the time but no other Milwaukee tools.

Here are the small drills I use. I got the Magnum 1/2 inch to replace the D-handle 1/2 inch. I wanted the D-handle because of it’s low speed and high torque, but I had to settle for this Magnum.

162203006.jpg

Here’s a more accurate picture of the percussion bits.
I have most sizes from 1/2” to 1&1/2” , and most of these I found on eBay, when a eBay seller listed several and I asked him if he had any more. He sold me his entire stash of N.O.S. percussion bits for $5-$15 each.. These are not SDS nor splined. They are all Milwaukee, made in Wisc. Hex drive—6 sides.

I'm looking for a 2754-22 Gen 2 3/8 Impact kit, but it looks like 339.00 is the deal everywhere. Anyone know of any promotions going that would save me a few bucks?

I use my belt sanders on various parts when fabricating something. When my old Porter Cable locomotive sander got stolen I pouted for awhile but then broke down and in a moment of spite I ordered a brand new Porter Cable worm-drive locomotive sander. That was not very bright, as I quickly found out it was not what I needed for most jobs. I couldn’t for instance sand upside down with that sander, nor on it’s side, since doing so would rob the worm drive of lube. I ended up leaving it in my shop and using the GF’s Grandad’s Black and Darker cheapo unit. But it worked for awhile.

140855802.jpg

When the B&D died I sold the Porter Cable worm-drive (for about 2/3rds what I paid for it) and bought a pair of Milwaukee belt-drive belt sanders on ebay for $60 each. First one I got with a dust bag, but it's for woodworking.

140902609.jpg

Second one is in this picture, and has no dust bag. I use this one almost exclusively for any fabrications or metal work I’m doing.

If you can use the Home Depot 150 promo - buy the dewalt drill/ impact driver kit for $369, and then the Milwaukee. It should take about $75 off the price of each, then return the dewalt kit.

Edit - That deal activates online, but only for the regular kit you posted, and NOT the special buy I have listed below... You COULD try to contact HD online and ask if they will honor the deal for you with the kit that comes with an extra battery since it's the same price, but they might not cause they are not suppose to combine promos.. Worth a shot though.

Anyway - special buy at HD gives you (3) 5.0 batteries right now for $329.99 if you buy that kit alone..

http://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwauke...XC-5-0Ah-Battery-2754-22-48-11-1850/206581428

----->>. HOWEVER - if you use the regular kit that's NOT part of the special buy,(the one that comes with 2 - 5.0 batteries) - it brings the price of the 2754-22 kit down to $258.30 AFTER you combine it with the $369 dewalt kit and buy them both together.. You have to buy both to activate the deal. Afterwards, just bring the dewalt kit back and keep the discount on the Milwaukee..

An option for you since the Milwaukee is not sold in the store and has to be ordered online - buy both kits - but choose to have the Milwaukee kit delivered to your house, and choose the have the Dewalt kit picked up in the store.. After the order is placed, wait a day or two - then call the store you would have to visit to pick up the dewalt kit, and tell them you changed your mind and want to return the dewalt. They can credit your card from there, they don't have to open the dewalt box to check it cause it never left the store, and it saves you a trip to HD..

Otherwise if there is a store close by, ship them both to the store and return the dewalt kit at the same time... It saves them the trouble of ripping the box open to check that eveything is there, like they would need to do if you physically left the store with the box.

206581428

If you bought the kit at $258, and bought ANOTHER 5.0 battery ($129), your total would be $387 without tax.. - so IF you need/want another (3) 5.0 batteries, it's a better deal for you to go with the special buy set priced at $329... Instead of buying the kit with 2 batteries and using the 150 off promo, AND THEN buying another 5.0 battery for $129..

With all the money you'd save, I'd like some new Milwaukee drill bits please.. Lol.. Jk

ALSO - HD has a compact kit that comes with (2) 2.0 batteries, for $259. It does NOT activate the 150 off promo, and that's something you probably could get HD to honor if you open a chat window with them.. It would probably take something like $60 off the price if you can get them to do it, so $199 maybe??? But the deal with the (2) 5.0 batteries for $258 is prob the most for your money..

Im going to try that when the chat group comes in...i dont need any more 5.0 batteries, and kidn of like the idea of a light weight compact impact. But, if that doesnt work, ill just get the 5.0 kit.

I just really need the 3/8 impact for suspension work where i cant get the 1/2" into

This is just my opinion, but I'd get the 5.0 kit.. Even if u don't use the batteries for that tool, it's good for a lot more.. You can always buy 2 2.0 batteries off eBay. They aren't very expensive compared to the 5's.

You can get 2 2.0 batteries for like $65. You could easily sell one 5.0 battery for 80 or $100 If u needed to recoup money

Just spoke with them-they say it is triggering on their end with that kit, but for some reason not on our end. So you can make the order through their chat and they will get that done for you.

Just havent convinced myself to do it yet.

Oh, $193.** with the Dewalt Kit

Supposedly Milwaukee never made these, they were re-badged Sioux. I have no supporting data, simply what I was told.

Thanks for the input fellas, its a real shell game! My wife bought a 3654 for my for Christmas, which I'm returning for the 2754.

So the 2754-22 kit can be bought with the 75.00 rebate if you place the order through chat or call?

I'd like 2.0's to use in the shop, but buying them separately is probably sound advice.

Just to be clear its not a rebate. Just a promo, so the discount is instant. Nothing to mail in. Good luck with your choice..

The problem with the close quarters drill in the above pictures is that the reversing lever gets flexible with age and just won't actuate the switch anymore. The lever makes a zigzag once inside the tool and the middle portion of the zag is what flexes... or maybe it's the zig, but SOME part of the lever flexes too much.

I do like the 1/2 drive 18 volt fuel cordless impact, powerful and puts out more power that an air powered impact.Have it myself.Milwaukee makes the best sawzalls out there, can't kill them.Milwaukee has not let me down yet.Milwaukee did not get the brushless technology right the first time and did the 2nd time going back to the drawing board. There was some problems at first during the testing process.I do know Milwaukee does have a lawsuit against 7 power tool manufacturers including Snap On.Power tool battery patent infringements is the reason why they are sueing them.Have not heard anything else on it yet how it is going so far.

Milwaukee claims it patented the use of lithium ion multi cell battery packs that generate an average discharge current of 20amps or greater - and that prior to their v28 line, lithium packs were not considered a viable option for power tools.
