I had a plan to build some Unistrut projects and began eyeing the M12 bandsaw. It's now been like a week of me torturing myself over whether to buy it or not and thinking "hey if I got it I could buy 10' strut and cut it down in the parking lot to fit in my car!" and playing Pakkit to get Zoro codes and deciding I shouldn't spend the money. Then I started thinking "If I get the M12 Fuel circular saw too I can finally buy plywood! I can cut that in the parking lot too!" but then I was going back and forth on kits and blow mold cases and then I said I'm being insane and shouldn't spend any money. Then I was just told that I need to buy both of them so... I guess I'm getting them?

Here's what I'm bouncing between now:
Circular Saw Bare Tool + Band Saw Bare Tool + 4.0 would be 296$ with no containment vessels of any kind.
Bandsaw Kit + Circular Saw Bare Tool would be 303$ netting a 3.0 battery instead of a 4.0 but also a blow mold instead of a jobsite bag.
Bandsaw Bare Tool + Circular Saw Kit would be 322$ netting a 4.0 battery, but a jobsite bag instead of a blow mold.

I'm not sure I really need a 4.0 battery. I won't be using it "on the job" all day. I do kinda like blow mold cases for tools but the M12 bandsaw is a little small for storing in a blow mold, and if I get a jobsite bag I could put both in it and bring them places. With a blowmold the CS is just flapping in the breeze. However, I could just go buy a Husky bag at HD for 15$ and call it done. Also it's really not a big deal to have the CS just sitting in the trunk. Other than it getting sawdust on stuff but that's not a big issue.

Anyone have any sage advise in any direction?

I know this is sacriledge.... but....

Has anyone tried the 3rd party batteries? I have some tools that I want to give my wife for her job, but dont want to give up my good batteries (prefereably)

Amazon has a couple different brands of lithium ion replacement batteries which review pretty darn well for teh M12 tools...

Anyone tried them?

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B016A588LG/?tag=atomicindus08-20
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ME4DJF8/?tag=atomicindus08-20

I know Milwaukee branded is not "That" much more....but wondered if for limited use they would be OK

I've been really tempted to get some of those and do a little investigationing into their performance. I wish the price was lower though as there's not a big benefit to them.

Back in the day I considered "generic" batteries for Ryobi tools, but have never even thought about it for my Milwaukees. I have noticed them in Amazon search recommendations. They dont seem to be much cheaper and I doubt their performance is on par with genuine batteries. I would not want to risk my expensive tools to save a few bucks on a battery.

I've used an aftermarket one for the larger M12 battery. I just wanted a battery with a larger base to stand an impact driver on so it wouldn't always fall over.. I didn't really care about the capacity

I've had it about a year now. Zero problems, though I don't use it heavily daily or anything. I do use it about once a week though and it's been fine.

Caparris, would you take apart the battery for the rest of us? The battery cells themselves should have markings on them and we can determine manufacturer, chemistry, and capacity.

The ones labeled made in China work just fine...

that may well be but that was NOT the point... live in USA, work in USA, pay taxes to USA raise kids in USA and we are forced to support "them... over there".... I want American made.

Just got in the 2360-20 trueview light. I've seen the smaller one discussed here a bit but didn't find much on the big boy.
I love it so far but honestly I kinda thought it'd be brighter. It's supposed to be %20 brighter than a 500 watt halogen and I just don't think it is. I love the adjustable angle though that swivels allowing you to keep the base stationary and just rotate the light head. And the 110 volt option, that being a primary selling point to me.
I'll review it further after working with it for a while.

Well that's the brightest model they make.. And the only one with a dual power source.. Still can't believe they didn't work that into the tripod light.

I'm still a little **** hurt the tri pod doesn't have it... Tempted to get that one also just to have one that's got options power wise. Just in case.

Been waiting for a vendor at work to send that tripod light over.. I bribed him about 3 weeks before Christmas with a bottle of silver tequila, and he said it would be in my hands before the holiday.. I'm still waiting, but hopefull....

It's night time now and I've been able to check it out better. It is pretty freaking bright. At some point I'll look it over with tripod mounting mods in mind. I'm almost definitely going to put some rare earth magnets on the base.

The tripod is the same way. It doesn't look 'that bright' when you look at it at first. Then you turn it on outside at night and it's like 'ohhhhhh there we go, sh!@ my eyes!'

That last parts only if you actually stare into it but you get the idea.

Ok here's some pics with just the drawers that have Milwaukee and a few other areas that currently have Milwaukee items. 21f9b21dcbf19f7b375c2c58c4ea1995.jpgb70940f97339bcb62d61895b36aee26c.jpge178761c15545ca1d57accd6fe2e931b.jpgeaf63f7409d2233f5ac6d3c2b5283a4a.jpgf0b17af9ef371c4d91330a65b3c8d0f1.jpg48c413b4e69e6a4a7449bc6b665cf89f.jpgc17d0756226ae6985698e7388e2e3623.jpge5e4031dd1d5e80a1b70265429d4e4ba.jpge75e7fa768abfc78fc9d285bd685a6d6.jpgc8387ae938263b104eeca3fa11dd53b0.jpgc3978de883f08249491fc391cfece9e6.jpg7a741e6b31b7e1021a982caedf1f0e95.jpg4ba83047710d318e4965140feec7f8c1.jpg

The other drawers are full of either a mix of other brands or empty depending. I'm still trying to decide what else is 'needed'. Oh and I was using the tri pod for light so it's not pictured.

You'd be surprised how many over sea products you use on a daily basis, good luck surviving. If it works well and lasts, I don't care where is from.

I see a lot of new unused tools. You gotta get all of them broken in.....

I know, I know... Lol. I just started collecting in late October/ early November. My well used tools are in another box and some old dewalt and Ridgid 18v Nicad stuff I used for the last 10 years. I decided to get all new stuff for the new box and keep the old craftsman box and other tools as loners. But that's no excuse I just need to find some projects to get started on again!

I have the M18 Flood Light V1, really like the new tripod. No clue why they dont sell a stand for Flood Light V1 or V2.

There are deals on the new Flood Light and Tripod. Free 4.0 battery with Flood, Free 5.0 starter kit with Tripod. Think the promo is running till 3/31.

If I find a coupon of 10% that stacks, definitely getting the Tripod.

I wanna see some grease stains on them grips, and some worn lettering. Lol. But in all seriousness, you have obtained in the past 2 months, what I have in 3 years (bought my first M18 tool in march of 2013). And my girl thinks I AM crazy.... Have fun man, those will last you a while.

And out of what you got, the M12 FUEL hammer drill is my favorite. Just a f'in beast. I drilled 5/8" holes 6" deep in my slab to anchor my safe. That little thing didnt miss a beat, used one battery on 4 holes.. (Had a rotary hammer on standby)

Just finished the first one! Installed some new LED shop lights and a new port a mate wood rack!

Not much of a project but it's a start lol. I'm not sure what the first big project will be. Eventually a deck in the back yard, maybe. Kitchen remodel soon hopefully. Maybe helping some friends fix up some of their things. I really need to decide soon.

Imagine how crazy my girl thinks I am! I try to keep her out of the shop and ease her into the reality of how many tools I have gotten lately. She already had that odd look on her face when I did this with guns a few years ago... Just repeating the cycle lol.

Random - but, would you mind throwing up a pick of the portamate wood rack?

Bought two the other day at $20/each and contemplating if and where I'll throw them up.

Snap On makes an underhood light that uses their 7.2v or 14.4v batteries. Does Milwaukee make one? I haven't seen one, but there are a lot of products in this line!

Also, is there a huge difference between the fuel and non fuel tools? Is there a difference in the batteries between them?

Here you go.

I picked up a couple of them too. Going to mount one outside once the rain stops for a few days.

Are we wrong to assume there's a big pile of stuff going to be put on eBay? Or did you just save and stack all the boxes?

Some are saved boxes. Some have tools in them I didn't put in the tool box like the m-Spector 360. Then I have a small pile of 1/2" fuel impacts and 2897-22 kits that I need to put up on CL and eBay. So all of the above somewhat lol.
