I sold a new M18 2621 Sawzall to a guy, he brought a compact 1.5ah battery to test and I had XC and 4.0s with me, we noticed an audible performance difference between the 1.5 versus the 3.0/4.0. I was surprised, but thought perhaps his old 1.5 was not peak new performance.

Frontierajl, mentioned there might be a diff in 1.5 vs 2.0 performance but did not think there was in 2.0 vs XC.

Too bad theres no official info from Milwaukee about battery comparison, at least that I could not find.

On my M18 Fuel 3/8" I see a difference between the 2 and 4 amp batteries.

The state of the threads makes a huge difference. Mine wouldn't take a bolt off. I cleaned up the threads and torqued back to same tightness and it would then take it off no problem.

In M18, I've own or have recently owned a 1.5, 2.0, XC (3.0), and 4.0. Can't tell a difference in 3/8 fuel impact or fuel hammer drill.

I got to try out the M12 Fuel 3/8" impact on some auto work last night. Girlfriend was saying her car was sqeauling when she hit the brakes so I took all four tires off to inspect. I did manage to get all the lugnuts off with just it but it was a struggle on some of them. Some took multiple passes of long impacting. However on the tires I took off last it zipped them right off no problem. I torque the lugnuts. Her dad puts them on with an air impact. Also, I too... felt like it had more power on the XC battery. I'm gonna do a full investigation on this though. There must be a real answer here.

I'll be doing more in the near future. Her driver's side inner CV Boot is totally apart. Both front struts look bad, and her rear brakes need to be replaced. I'm gonna try to use the M12 3/8" Fuel as much as I can because it is sooo much more convenient than an air tool as long as it can actually do the job. Strongly tempted to grab the M18 3/8" though. Anything beyond what it could do I'd do with a breaker bar anyhow I think.

Looking forward to your results, as I just bought one, and I'm wondering if I wouldn't be better off with the M18 3/8" Fuel.

I bought the M12 3/8" Impact and it won't pull the lug nuts off of my jeep. Dealer touched the lug nuts last though so I am sure they are torqued down beyond spec.

I find the M12 Impact is fine for all my motorcycle work but plan on buying the M18 1/2" impact as well. My goal to get rid of all my air tools and go cordless. Sell the compressor and get a nice Quiet California Air 10 Gallon 2HP to replace it with.

Based on the rated specs, the M18 Fuel 3/8" should be able to do any lugnut. I'll probably end up with one too. I have a feeling Milwaukee is going to be getting a crapload of money out of me in the coming years...

That said, the M12 Fuel is capable and any of the lugnuts I torqued properly before it zipped right off no problem.

Good plan. The California Air Tools compressors are sooo nice. I love the quiet.

So I blew my tool budget for Q1 2016

I already have a M12 1/4 Hex Driver, M12 Drill and a M12 3/8 Ratchet.

All the Impacts and the Drill are Gen 2 Fuel. Overall it was a large expense, But i believe i got my moneys worth. I cant wait to get them in the tool box and see how much they change the way i do my job.:bounce:

1/4 M12 Ratchet (Bare Tool) was a promo with the 1/4 M12 Impact Kit
A 5AH Battery and Multi Charger was a Promo with 2 Bare M18 Tools, 3/8 & 1/2 Impacts
FastBack knife and Blades where promos with the Contractor Bag & Sawsall

I suggest you look at the m12 stick light.. Something tells me youll like it.. If you get one, check out the magnet you can buy for it as well.. The lithium LED light from Capri tools is also a great buy.. It's extremely usefull for under $50.

I seriously think I've run out of Milwuakee stuff to buy.. Anything else would be a complete stretch of the imagination to even think I could ever "need" one day..

I'm thinking I might start to upgrade the pliers in my rolling "driveway" tool box from the old Kobalt stuff I have to Channellock.. That might keep me entertained till some more red stuff comes out..

Yeah the M18 3/8 fuel can definitely do any properly torqued lugnut. Considering some lugnuts installed by many dealers and even some tire places are slammed on with air. Recently my 2663 1/2 M18 barely got off a few last touched by a dealer.

Based on the rated specs, the M18 Fuel 3/8" should be able to do any lugnut.

not sure? Out of all the lights iv tried i prefer Stramlights, you just cant kill them. Have a nice collection going. Stinger,Strion,DoubleClutch, and just got a Knucklehead with a magnetic back. Plus they are kind of local, and the utility company i now work for have their own rep and have been dealing with them for decades.

Hey, Does anyone know if they have any protective boots for the M12 3/8 impact? I have boots for both my 3/8 and 1/2 M18's but been looking around and cant find for this one. I just got mine a week and cant use it enough. Nice little gun, combined with the cordless ratchet I almost have to find an excuse to use my hand tools. LOL

Where did you get the boots for your m18 guns? I'm on the hunt for them.

Milwaukee is going for world **********. That's a purchase for sure. Though I'm surprised they didn't go M12 Fuel for the nailer.

Also, are there any current deals going on the big bertha M18 Fuel 1/2" Impact? I'm thinking of getting it and just deprecating my air impact. My current air impact kinda ***** and the M18 Fuel Impact kinda rules.
Best deal I found on it was buying it with an eligible kit to trigger the 150 off promo.

Got the price of the impact down to 150 or so

This is one area that made me seriously consider going DeWalt. Milwaukee has a great tool selection, but missed the nailers. My 18V DeWalt trim nailers are still great, but I sure would love to see a Framer M18.

How about some yard tools as well? I'd love to dump my B&D 18V for some M18 yard tools.

I have the new DeWalt 20V finish nailer and its fantastic. I can't see Milwaukee outdoing Dewalt in nail guns, but we'll see.

Also, thanks all for the feedback on the M12 3/8" impact. For $199 the M12 3/8" impact + 3/8" ratchet kit is pretty hard to beat, but i think i need an 18V class 3/8" impact first. I emailed Dewalt about a release date on their brushless 20V 3/8 and they said there isn't one yet. I might have to get the M18 one.

I just finished doing the rear brakes on a 2002 Oldsmobile Aurora and the only impact I used was the M12 3/8" Fuel. I've gotta say not having to deal with air hoses and an air compressor was AMAZING.

Didn't have to use a ratchet at all - the M12 took off every fastener?

I used one 12mm wrench for the caliper pin because it was up against the lower control arm and it was like 20ftlbs anyways. But yeah the M12 had no problem. Granted there's not a ton to do on a brake job but... I'll keep trying to use it for future work because it is really freaking convenient.

I finally cleared out my shop enough that I might be able to actually do that Lug nut torque test I've been mentioning to really see what the M12 is capable of and if the batteries matter.

And the m12 is lighter than m18 so fatigue is not in the equation. I don't have m12 Impact but would consider it in the future. I wish they sell them in store so I can get a feel for one. What batt you use on that m12, 2.0ah or 4.0ah?

Here's a quick sample excerpt from the complete process.
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/yTsu97oWgpI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

These lugnuts were tightened to 95 ft/lb about a week prior. The battery I'm using is either a 2.0Ah or a 1.5Ah, I'm not sure which one it was. I think I've got 1 1.5Ah in the fleet and then like 6 2.0Ah and one 3.0Ah XC.

I recorded the entire brake job hoping to edit it into a tutorial video but I don't think I'm going to go through with it. Retracting the brake piston went somewhat questionably. On the passenger side the piston screwed right in and seated perfectly. On the driver's side it went in some but never ratcheted and didn't really seat all the way in. I wonder if maybe someone messed up the piston on a previous brake job on the car. I did test it though and both sides are working.

I might actually do another test with my air impact and see if my air impact can get off something tightened by the M12 Fuel and vice versa. I'm really not sure my crappy 1/2" air impact is more powerful. I want to say lug nuts take longer to remove with it.

Ok fellow addicts, if you could only have one M12 light which one and why? I'm in the market for one and as much as I'd like all of them I'm only choosing one. What one should I get?

Guess it depends. But if you're looking mainly for automotive then I'd go with the stick light

Ditto. M12 Stick light. Though... I'd probably buy CT1000 CAT COB lights. :) I like having a bunch I can stick all over the place.

I did two videos on the M12 Stick LED:

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/GfseSOg6VrI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

jerseykat1 also posted a review of it on his site:

The M12 stick light, I like it so much I have 2 of them. The multi position hanger is ideal for working on cars. The worklight has a magnet but not as useful as a hanger. You can get an optional magnet for the stick light. The lantern is more for illuminating a broader area and the spot light is a bigger version of the worklight. The M18 worklight is no more brighter than the M12 version. I also have the 1st gen M18 floodlight which is great but have not used it so far on a project. The M18 stick light is bigger and bulkier than the M12 version.

M12 LED Stick Light - 220 Lumens
M12 LED Work Light - 160 Lumens
M12 Incandescent Work Light - 80 Lumens
M12 LED Lantern - 400 Lumens
M12 LED Trueview Spotlight - 800 Lumens
M18 LED Work Light - 160 Lumens
M18 LED Flood Light - 1100 Lumens
M18 LED Lantern - 700 Lumens
M18 LED Stick Light - 300 Lumens
M18 LED Trueview Flood Light - 3000 Lumens
M18 LED Trueview Stand Light - 2000 Lumens
