The popular cases (sawzall, circ saw, etc) command a premium (40-50) even I wont pay. A lot of the plumbers & electricians I know hate the cases, take up too much room in the truck.

Besides no bare tool option w/ case. My other gripe is the cases are too tailored to a specific tool and cant fit anything else. Many M12 Fuel drills/impacts wont fit in each others case, V1 & V2 M18 Fuel arent case compatible, or even OK Fuel with V2. Fuel vs non-Fuel tools, forget about it.

Yeah, you can buy empty cases, most online places that sell the tool will also sell empty cases, or you can usually pick them up on eBay.

Keep in mind these new tools are for 2017 I think, maybe end of 2016.. So maybe by Oct 2017 the pumpkin will drop to a reasonable price and the buffer will be available for Summer 17.

I've met a lot of trades like that, but these tools get the **** kicked out of them in a tool bag or just thrown in the back of the van. But 40 - 50 bucks is out of line for a case like that.

At that price point, if you have 3 or 4 tools you are in the price range for one nice pelican type case with customizable foam inserts. Plus you can fit other brands of tools, bits, accessories, etc. Personally I prefer to buy the bare tools without the cases, since they add to the overall price and I hate to just throw them away.

Yeah, it's a ****** time to announce lawn stuff. Either get it on HD shelves TODAY or just wait until next spring. Such is the nature of retail. We'll be seeing Halloween stuff in a couple weeks LOL

Yes, their timing for these items is ---- odd. Anyone have more details on the blower? I skimmed the twitosphere for #nps16 but didn't find anything except a single picture.

Only rational I can think of is you like Milwaukee and are considering getting another brands lawn tools you may now wait. Interested in the blower as well, have the old/existing one, is new one Fuel? Specs would be nice too.

If they'd just bring out a chainsaw I could plan on ditching my 40V Ryobi stuff!!

At least this year's NPS has some meat to it. Last year was lame.

Seriously though I'm not fully understanding Milwaukee's obsession with lights. Every year they introduce at least two new lights. They can't really plan on producing all of these lights every year....surely some are going to discontinue.

Right now Milwaukee's also trying to push One Key but it just doesn't excite me much. I'm not opposed to it but not gonna run out and buy new tools because of it.

Yeah, I assume the old M18 Floodlight is going away very soon, I think the new M12 Floodlight is kinda its replacement, since the new M18 is so much larger and bulkier than the old one. Havent seen pic of it so not sure the category it serves.

Dont know if the new pumpkin is a replacement for the M18 Lantern. But it is One Key controllable, so that is new "light" territory, and something Bosch has upcoming with their OK type platform.

I would prefer they upgrade existing lights versus coming out with a completely new one. Theres no reason the M18 stick should only be 300 lumen! They could easily make the M12 stick 400+

The only light I believe is truely discontinued is the M18 Xenon, the M12 is still sold. So with the 2 new ones that puts total at 13 Milwaukee lights!

So what does OK bring to the pumpkin light? Can you dim it from your phone? If so that'd be kinda cool for my friend who's off grid, eg if you could hang the light up high in a room and change output from the couch, bed etc

Yeah Benjamin at Toolguy said. "You can turn it off and on and control brightness and set it on and off on a schedule."

It will be interesting its price point. I would only be interested at about $150 and of course during a free battery promo!

COPTOOL has a few NPS16 pics. Pumpkin OK flyer, pic of the new blower (looks like the Dewalt), Hedge Trimmer (didnt see that yesterday), water pump, another polisher pic (says Fall 2016) and drywall tools (my Ryobi drywall cut tool is one of the last Ryobis I have).

M18 FUEL Rotary Polisher is another great addition 2738-20 ($249, expected retail) as most detailers would love to go cordless if possible. Milwaukee already has one of the most common corded polishers 5460-6 ($219) but this will be the first cordless we know of. Ideally a perfect pairing with the smaller M12 Polishers for all those hard to reach places. Variable speed trigger down to 0 RPM and dial setting from 800-2200 RPM. Battery life for a 5.0Ah will be “One Car” worth… Expect the M18 out Fall 2016. We were hoping we might actually see a M18 FUEL 7” grinder this year but no luck.. perhaps 2017.

WTF theres an update to the M18 Trueview stand light!

Pumpkin $299!?!? OK Version $349!!!!! Wonder if thats MSRP or retail.

M18 Multi Directional Tower Light Builds on the success of the LED Stand Light 2130-20 ($249) but adds 3 adjustable heads (original only has 1) to control the lights. Use AC or M18 battery power. Also a M18 “Search Light” for high powered directional lighting.

Pic of M12 Flood (looks like 1/2 depth of original M18) & M12 maglight.

M12 compact 3ah & XC 6ah batteries.

So wait are there 5 new lights!

Subbing,

Need to start a power tool collection from scratch and it will most likely be red.

A while back someone mentioned you only want M12 after you already have m18 stuff.. What would be wrong for a DIYer to start out with M12 and upgrade as needed?

Lots of good info in here and will be on the lookout for deals
Cheers

Nothing wrong with the M12 stuff.. most of us here are just tool addicts so it's easy to want both, lol

I used an M12 right angle drill last night to drill some 1.5" holes and it did just fine. And my M12 3/8" impact is probably my favorite impact. It's the best combo of strong/small/light that I have (obviously you aren't breaking crankshaft bolts loose with it or anything..)

I started out with M12 because of my desire for a cordless ratchet, had other 18v tools, but eventually everything got replaced by Milwaukee. Depends on your need and what your willing to go cordless with, the M12 Fuels could be your only tools. Unless you want the M18 Sawzall, M18 Framing Circular Saw, & bada$$ M18 Impacts. For DIY you need M18s for big projects like building a deck, shed or big remodel, suspension or serious car work.

Most of the time I use my M12 stuff, example used the M12 Fuel 1/4 Hex Impact to put my new Broil King grill together the other day, one of my M18s would of been overkill.

I recently got the M12 fuel drill / impact combo. I love it. No more dragging cords for drilling / driving in screws, and the impact function is awesome.

For M12, I would focus on the drill / drivers and other non-saw related tools. For the DIY, I don't see a large benefit for cordless saws, especially at the M12 level. If I need to cut, I bring out the miter saw or table saw, or bring out the saw horses and a cord. I also rarely need an impact beyond what the 1/4 impact driver will do. I drive lags with it, and sometimes tighten bolts too. For the heavy stuff, I have a 1/2 breaker bar and a pipe.

I would say start with a good M12 drill driver and see what happens.

I've got the M12 FUEL Circular Saw and I use that thing way more than I expected. Being able to just grab it and zip through something and not have to plug / unplug any cords is amazing.

I just got the M12 Fuel 5 3/8, already have the M18 Fuel 7 1/4. Interested to see what the M12 can do and how easily. The M18 kicks a$$ but is overkill for one cut or small pieces. Have you used the M12 to cut a 2x8-12 or cut a sheet of plywood in half? Wish there were Diablo BOGO packs for 5 3/8.

I want to try some of the new Diablo Tracking Point Blades in the cordless 7-1/4. A video from the tool expo made them look impressive.

I have and as long as you don't ram it into the wood it will do fine. You just need to let it work at it's own pace. If you overfeed it will just stop rather than kicking back. I also don't have any fancy blade on it. Just the one it came with. I wonder if Forrest makes anything in that size... $$$

I have Bosch Daredevils for my Mitre Saw and like the Diablos for circular saw. Perhaps I will invest in a Forrest for my table saw when I rebuild my deck. Ever use it to cut composite decking?

I've got a Forrest Woodworker II on my table saw and it is pretty sweet.

I agree with you, that's how I started. Everything else equal, lighter is always better. You'll be surprised at just how much the M12 can accomplish. In M18 I only have the Big Boy impact, light and vacuum. I haven't needed M18 in drill or driver.

I want a shirt! Gave the M12 hackzall a little bit of a workout this evening, I've got a big mulberry tree in my backyard that grows like crazy, 2 or 3 times a year I have to trim limbs back to keep them off my roof shingles. Went through about 1.5 batteries in half an hour, and got the motor kinda warm, but it got the job done. Need to get some better blades, half the time it just vibrates the branch rather than cutting it.

I just saw that there are pre-orders available for the new polisher. $249 for the 2738-20, $449 for the 2738-22, and $499 for the 2738-22P with a ship date of 6/27. Reading the description, it sounds like there is about 30 to 40 minutes of run time per 5.0 amp hour battery.

Are they freebies from the Fuel promo codes you enter online? Maybe I'll get the 30pc set. With all the codes I have entered from purchases I am shocked I never got a shirt.

Yep freebies. I entered close to 100 times at the end of last year and begining of this year. I gave up thinking I wouldn't get anything.

An alternate reality in a parallel universe.
I showed the Milwaukee rep who was at Home Depot the picture of 4 drawers on my KRL loaded and 2 drawers on my Matco 6225RX loaded with M12 & M18 pieces, about 85 of tools and the guy wouldn't give me a tee shirt, he lived up to the company's premise as he was a complete tool....

My son has DeWalt 18V tools from about 7 years ago. The kit he bought included a small, "panel" circular saw. The blade it came with was a joke, but I replaced it with a carbide tip blade and firworks is right.

That little saw can cut a lot of 2by material on 1 charge and it is so easy to use on any sheet goods. For making some quick cuts, it can not be beat.

I bought the M18 Fuel circular saw (6.5") only because the M12 version was not out yet. 95% of my circular saw cutting is 3/4" or thinner plywood/osb or 2x4's.

If anything ever happened to my M18 saw I would have no reservations about buying the M12. The convenience of a cordless circular saw without a cord is amazing.
