If you need nothing else but batteries, CL is your best bet. Rare to find battery only deals outside of Nov-Dec. Though the HD promo where you get 20/50/100 off 1/2/3 items does have a XC 2 pack and 5.0 starter kit in the promo. But there were many people that got incredible deals on that stuff Monday, so they are probably on CL cheaper than you can get today. Sometimes you can get good prices on new stuff on Ebay & Amazon also.

Anyone find any good deals on m18 batteries?

I just added an M18 Fuel Drill/Driver combo to my collection of Milwaukee M12 stuff.

The M12 has been fantastic for me but I need a little more power sometimes.

Re: Milwaukee M12 Drill - Backlash problem

I'm not sure if this is normal or not. I just bought the M12 drill/driver kit at HD during the recent sale.

When I change directions and give it a light trigger for slow RPM it takes a couple revolutions to smooth out. In other words it's a little clunky upon the direction change almost like there's a lot of backlash in the gears. After a few revolutions it smooths out and appears normal until the next direction change.

You can hear it clunk and it's a little stiff.

Is this normal?

The only time this is noticeable is during very slow RPM immediately after a direction change.

I see it looks like you're in Florida, but I often see them on Craigslist for about $55 in my area, brand new in the cardboard/blisterpak. I bought a few of them from various sellers for about $50 each, XC4 versions. Sometimes they're posted for as high as about $70, and I offered $50, and they accepted the offers.

Edit: Just checked, here's one:

For no reason that I know of, a bright red xxl Milwaukee t shirt showed up at my house with a collection of promo shockwave bits. Guess they needed to remind me that I haven't bought any Milwaukee stuff in a few months... Think I'm gonna have to get that new 1/2 compact impact to complement my others...

Does anyone remember what the original price of the 3000 lumen dual powered floodlight was? I just bought one in HD for $149.. I thought they were more expensive.. The store I went to recently expanded their Milwaukee inventory ALOT.. I couldn't pass it up..

They had the m12 spot light that was tempting too, but I wanna stay m18 on the lights since they will be for work. Search light will be bought as soon as I see it, and I'm dying to know what those bucket truck lights are gonna cost...

$149 was the original price. I picked one up a few months ago when it was $149 for the light plus a free 5.0 battery.

Thanks, Ill keep my eyes out for some rather innexpensive batteries. It looks like with my setup I am better off doing that and getting a few bare tools here and there as I need them.

Whoah you got it for 75$?? I'd pick up like 3 more at that price. I use the one I have as my key light for my YouTube videos. With a few more I would be totally covered. All that is in addition to using them as work lights...

I was gonna return it, and buy it online. Costal has a deal for basically the same price with a free battery.. on my local hd's computer (not where I bought it) they did a return / rebuy for the clearance price their store shows it for.. all I did was ask, and the cashier said no problem.. they don't stock it so the prices are different in the computers.. I didn't think they would, but all I did was ask.. I wouldn't feel comfortable doing more than just the one.

So now I have the tower light, the floodlight, m18 lantern and regular pistol grip work light at work, and most of the others at home..

I don't see a deal on Coastal Tool? Also I'm surprised there's nowhere to sign up for a newsletter for deals from them or something.

Yea if you Google the part number, there are 2 places offering a free 3.0 battery. Costal has no tax, with shipping it's just about the same price with the tax added from HD. I'm tempted to try the m12 spotlight. It's half price on clearance from the stores that don't carry it, so you would need to do a return/rebuy to get that price ($35)..

Link to the video? Cannot find it on the website.

Here you go.

Damn - you gotta see all the new lights coming out.. Watch the video I linked..

The idea of the one key on that pumpkin light, is that you can daisy chain the lights together using extension cords, and then hang them from the ceilings on large jobs while you can control the on/off and dimming with your phone..

New tripod light with charger,
M18 search light / utility light - telling you now, I am buying this for work.
1000 lumen m12 floodlight
AND THEY HAVE A WORKILIGHT JUST FOR LINEMAN AND UTILITY BUCKETS !!! Dammit now that's 2 more I need to buy
M12 all metal flashlight (pretty sure me and a few other guys had this on a wishlist)
EDIT - The tool sell outs have a video posted, Radius light out in July

The new tripod is gonna be 3000 lumen, have a rapid charger built in, dual powered - all for the low price of $399 as a bare tool..

I grabbed the 8" dykes today and stumbled upon the crimping pliers -- didn't know the crimpers existed. Ironically used 'em as soon as I got home to repair the cord on my old school 6148 grinder. The crimpers are nice IMO.

I've never fully understood when people bash Milwaukee hand tools; 99% of my experiences w their hand tools have been positive. I hate the magnetic tape measure and seems there's another hand tool I don't like....can't remember now.... so I'll gladly call out the duds but most people bashing the hand tools have never used them.

I think that for me it's more the high price point. Where I am, they're more money than Channellock hand tools, but they're made in China.

My personal opinion is that when you buy the power tool company hand tools you're paying a lot for the paint job.

I have to grudgingly admit they have a point with some of them. When you consider the prices of the Milwaukee stuff, and the fact that most of them are the same as what you'd pay for channellock. In the case of the crimpers, the channellocks feel much better made (and I hate admitting that).. Same with the nippers, and a few others. I only say it cause I own both brands. I haven't been able to beat on the Milwaukee cutters cause they don't fit in my pouches at work, but the channellocks don't hold up to hard use in those.. The Milwaukee's are still very good, I just think they should be a little cheaper - but I still buy them.

Milwaukee also has cable cutters, nipping pliers, iron workers pliers, filter pliers, and fencing pliers too. The fencing pliers are more up to snuff when compared to other brands. The rest are noticeably lighter and just feel cheaper, but they still work very well..

That makes two of us - after taking apart the carburetor on my string trimmer three times, I finally gave up on it and gave it to the local mower repair place for parts. I'm done with gas trimmers.

A little off topic - but I bought an echo from HD probably 6 years ago at least, and I've changed the plug and filters once since I've owned it. I've never had a problem starting it, ever..

My Husqvarna blower on the other hand, stalls right out of the box. Bothght another one this year thinking it was a fluke - same thing..

I've got one of the Husqvarna trimmers from Lowes, and I abuse it. 5 years and running, same plug, no preventative maintenance, etc. 3 pulls max to start it. That's even after sitting all winter with old gas in it.

Now, I had an Echo trimmer about 10 years ago, and it was hit n miss as to wether it would start. Basically, I think the small engine market is a **** shoot anymore, which is sad.

Just got this today. Man is this thing heavier and way bigger than I was expecting. Sure is nice though. Got the bare tool instead of the kit because my local home depot doesn't stock the kits, and I can't use a 20% off harbor freight coupon on online purchases, but this particular home depot lets me use them on purchases I make in the store. So I walked out of there, tax and all, for $30 less than the price on the shelf. I'd consider that a pretty good deal.

Add in the fact that 5.0 batteries on eBay are half the cost of the ones in Home Depot, and I should be able to put together a full kit, with 5.0 batteries instead of 4.0 batteries like in the kit, for about 75% of what the kit costs.

Wait Home Depot takes harbor freight coupons???

One of my two does, it's all up to how cool the manager is, might need to sweet talk them a little bit. I specifically go exclusively to this particular Home Depot because they're nice enough to take Harbor Freight coupons. I have another Home Depot that's a bit closer, but they don't accept the coupons so I don't shop there.

Give your Home Depot(s) a call, be super chill, don't be demanding at all, and ask to speak to the manager in charge if they have the time. Politely explain that you heard that some Home Depot's will accept competitor coupons and you're inquiring as to whether or not this particular Home Depot will accept Lowe's or Harbor Freight % off coupons. Maybe explain that Home Depot has always treated you right in the past and you want to stay loyal to them, but you also have a budget you need to stay loyal to, and using competitor coupons would really help you be loyal to both.

Doesn't hurt to at least ask. Good luck.

In other news, just bought two new 5.0 batteries and a charger off eBay. All said and done, I came in about $120 under the cost of the kit, and I get 5.0 batteries, whereas I'm not sure what I'd get in the kit, because the pictures show 5.0 but the description specifically says 4.0.
