I wonder when kits will start showing up with M12 3.0 or 6.0 and M18 6.0. Its too late for heated gear as this seasons kits are already out there with 2.0s. Probably not until 2017.

I ordered the new M12 batts today! Got an email from CPO they're in stock. Got two 3.0 compacts - mostly for heated gear - and one 6.0 XC for my 2438 sander/polisher.

So I did a little testing. All with M12 or M18 XC batteries.

M18 vs M12 Lantern - There is not that much difference, yes the M18 is brighter, but not that much. The range and spread of the light is not much different either considering how much larger the M18 is. Tested in 180 and 360 modes.

M12 Mag vs M12 Spot - The Spot is brighter but the Mag has a more even light output, as expected I guess where the Spot is more focused in the center and the outer beam is dimmer. The Mag is good at distance, but over a 100ft its hard to see things well, where as the Spot you can see at a distance very well at the center of the beam.

M12 Mag vs M18 Old Flood - The Mag casts almost the same width and almost as bright. Surprising the difference between the 2 is very small, yes they cost the same but didnt expect them to be so close.

Overall I am impressed in the Mag compared to other lights I have, its very bright and has a wide even beam. From my deck to the ground of about 15-18ft I think the light circle on the ground was about 35-40ft wide. Would be interesting if someone compares it against some popular Mags.

I'm beginning to like that 2355-20 LED metal flashlight. Thinking back on several mag lights I have and don't even use anymore maybe I could sell those to help finance that light ya right who even wants them now .

For the longest time the M12 flashlight 49-24-0146 was the one I used most often and it was always in my tool bag with the other m12 tools I have but after getting the freebie add on kit of a 2735-20 light and 4.0 battery combo I found the wider base on the larger M18 battery so much more convenient for setting the light in a standing position. I use a small 1.5ah 18v on that light now...plenty of battery for that. Using a 4.0 or older 3.0 M12 obviously does give a similar effect (and I finally do have 2 of 4.0 as free offers plus a 3.0 came with the grease gun), but still it seems like such a waste popping one of those those XC batteries in the flashlight as some of other tools benefit so much more with them like the M12 hackzall and the Fuel drill. That drill is so front heavy with 1/2 chuck that it will barely stand up with a 2.0 compact battery.

I do note here that neither flashlight will rotate downward past a 90 degree position like my old Makita did. Miss that.



But may get a M12 floodlight first. I like all the mounting options

As a flashlight its impressive, but obviously no pivoting head. Its pretty heavy as it should be being a rugged light. It has 2 power modes and a strobe mode. Still not sure why Milwaukee keeps putting 2-3 power modes on all the lights, I never use anything but full blast. Also unless I didnt realize it, there is no beam focus adjustment. The first time I turned it on is still in my mind, pointed it from one room to another in my house when all lights were off and it completely illuminated the whole room. It does however come with the wrist strap! That M18 search has to come with the fricken strap.

Yup I am pretty sure I am using my $50 HD credit on that M12 Flood, seems perfect for car work, plus I have a 5% coupon too!

I just ***-umed they'd be throwing it in heated gear. That's unfortunate as the 3.0 compacts are PERFECT for this, and Milwaukee could legitimately revise their literature/claims on battery life. As I've said before, I could definitely tell when I had a 2.0 in my hoodie vs the older 1.5's.

I don't have exact numbers but I use my heated gear enough to really get a feel for how long it should last. On the days I knew it should be dead but was still going, I'd look to find a 2.0 in the holster.

Apologies if this has already been pointed out but the old MagLite mounting clips work on the M12, or at least one does. Sorry for the weird lighting, the lighting was so poor in my house that I used the M12 spotlight to illuminate LOL.

Also, I personally took the lanyard off my spotlight and put it on my Bluetooth speaker. I just use it to hang the speaker in various locations

I could definitely tell when I had a 2.0 in my hoodie vs the older 1.5's.

Ya 1.5 gets you no where it seemed to me not even half the morning. And then to try and finagle changing out the battery while your still wearing it...IMO pocket should be outside accessible and closer to your hip

I had really liked the hoodies and still do. I had bought one in maybe 2 seasons ago, the khaki color similar to a Carhart brown and stared wearing it when the weather shifted in November that year but it didn't last 2 weeks on my job. It snagged too easily and I quickly put 3 holes in it. All in the sleeve areas, both inner forearms and a big one on the outer triceps area. I was not pleased and wrote Milwaukee about the "Work Ready" advertising they were doing with this stuff. Basically they told me to send it in to them directed me to a certain facility and eventually warranted it and replaced for me. Happy Holidays that year that year so I have no complaints there. But they couldn't replace it in the khaki as it had been discontinued and still is. (never could figure why...it is the best color )

Anyhow the sent a Real Tree Camo hoodie different shell fabric than the first one I had so far so good. I don't know if they have made any improvements or not but heated pockets and a heat zone around the lower back/kidney area would be great with these things for me, and back shoulder area is more important than all that upper chest heat.

There was a 2663-20 kit, NEW for $199 on ebay this morning. It's gone now. I was thinking about it. Bought 10 -2662-20 impacts the other day,some need brushes, one needs a switch, most all of them work. When they are working like they should, the torque is excellent on them. Going to switch over, keep one, sold two to guys in the shop. Bought the drill this morning for 30 bucks, it looks mint. Parts are cheap for these things and the brushes are replaceable, that' a very nice thing. I'll put some money in my pocket after I sell all my Snap-On impacts and drills, and batteries and chargers.

I found a small carabineer that works great to carry it, clip to a tool bag or pouch and to hang it high on a nail when I use it where I work. Nobody inadvertently knocks it around or off a bench that way

So I got confirmation from our vendor at work yesterday that he ordered those pelican lights for me.. One model 9460, and two model 9490's. Gotta be close to $3,000 in lighting that's gonna cost me a bottle of gin.. Lol

I'm thinking the next request might be for 3 of the Milwaukee search lights (as bare tools), and a 6 bay charger with 6, 5.0 batteries to keep locked up for night work.

Planning on getting the M18 string trimmer when released in the spring. Of course my gas one died this weekend on perhaps the last weekend I was going to use it, and was at beginning of use. Might just be a fuel filter, I think it knows its getting replaced and is pissed at me, it has served me well for 9 years.

If you have a receipt within 90 days, maybe. If you don't feel like going to a repair ctr go to Milwaukee's site & click e-service. They'll pay shipping both ways, but you'll probably have to find a FedEx shipping location.

I did not get a shipping notification yet, but I just signed onto Ohio Power tool and it shows the order for my m18 search light as "shipped 9/27" which is a bit odd since it's still 9/26 for 3 more hours.. Hopefully it'll be here soon.. But now - DEBATE TIME!!!!!!!!!!!

Got this today. Sound is meh. Taking it back. I like the idea of being able to use my m12 batteries but the sound is like listening to am radio. The crappy ryobi one+ sounds about the same and it was only $20. can't have it all I guess lol still love Milwaukee.

FYI: I am basing the sound comparison to my ryobi one+ and Bem speaker.

Bem speaker still has better sound, high, mids and can hang with low's. Got it from Costco for $40 so Milwaukee being at $69 and bigger did not meet my expectations. Old tech vs new tech I guess.
