What's really nice about the M18's head, is that there are no click stops. You can position it any way you want with no compromise. As soon as I picked it up from the box, I noticed how heavy it was. It's VERY well constructed. This is not like any of the other lights. It's not overly "oh wow" bright.. I have most of the others that are more powerful. The beauty is the modes and the ability to switch from spot to flood.. It should be just as bright as the first m18 flood light in "flood" mode.. Again, it's not crazy bright, but it's a very good light, and the pivoting head will easily allow you to use this as a work light AND flashlight.

Sorry didn't mean to give that impression.. It is .. But I'll have to wait until I have another night job to really see what's it's like.. If I had to guess (cause I've just been playing with it in the house mostly), it's probably very similar to the Dewalt 20v max spotlight in that mode. (I have the Dewalt too) .. It's def worth the money.

KCT brings up some good points. It really depends on the application at hand and how far away you will be using the light source relative to the what you are lighting up. You don't won't it so bright it washes out the details , etc

I would be using it as a search light/spotlight for identifying things at long ranges on my acreage. My concern is there's a better option out there.

I thought they were killing off the M28..... Didnt hear anything about it during NPS16 reviews...

There is a M28 Fuel SDS but nothing else. That site is the only thing I can quickly find to mention this. I dont believe it, no way they are coming out with that giant list of tools anytime soon...... UNLESS all the new tools they are releasing can run via 18 or 28 battery, the reverse of Dewalt

I still run 28 volt tools, love them.

It would awesome if the fuel 28 line actually came out!!!

On the other hand I've upgraded to a lot of the m18 and m12 fuel tools and I'm very happy.

The 9.0 battery is a very impressive battery, seems to put out a little bit more speed and torque compared to the 5.0 batteries .

I picked one up a few weeks back to use in a closet build-out project and was unimpressed with the misfires, amount of recoil and the indentation depth the nose guard left in the work piece (Poplar). The misfires could be related to the Paslode nails I used, so I've purchased some Porter Cable branded ones to give it one more shot at redeeming itself.

If you look back a couple of pages I had a pretty bad experience with the 18g brad nailer using Porter Cable nails. I was going to try another brand to see if it was the nails causing the issue.

One thing that did help is angling the nailer forward instead of keeping it parallel with the surface.

I am so close to pulling the trigger on the new M18 10" miter saw w free extra 9.0 for $599. Acme has the deal too and with them I won't pay tax (vs HD)

I don't even work with wood, but I might use it to cut Al. Basically there's $400 worth of batteries and a $200 10" slider. Not bad. Plus now that I have one rapid charger I want another.

Yeah, I can see the manual nailer working for the applications you've been using it in, but I currently don't have a need for a nailer with that type of capability.

One feature it does have, is there's an indent on the underside so you can hang it from a screw or nail that's on wall..

Not sure if I down played it a bit - but I'm very impressed with the light. As far as flashlights go ( let's face it, that's really what it is) you're getting a lot for your money.. Really it's what, $20 more then the m12 mag light?.. The nearest competitor that I know of will be something industrial like a pelican light.

I'm very impressed with the weight on this thing.. The Dewalt feels very cheap and clunky compared to this. ( but it's still a good spot light)

Another thing I haven't seen anything about was that bucket mounted lineman light.. Nothing like that on their website. I wonder if it was cancelled. I suspect that might be a flop if it's released.

That keyhole for wall mounting is the same as the 2361 octagon. I'm glad to see you like the search light, I'll likely pick one up in the next few weeks. Recently got the updated 1500 lumen 2361 that can fit the 9.0.

Soooooo....this may have been discussed earlier in the thread but I just stumbled upon Woodstock's info from MAY of this year, regarding release of a myriad of M28 Fuel tools. It can't come quick enough, I love M28 and just had a battery bite it last weekend. Thing is, I kinda refuse to buy anymore M28 batts here when 5.0s are available in EU and AU.

The guy over at RTR is a fellow GJ member. As a matter of fact, when I was looking at a particular tool about 1 1/2 - 2 years ago, he had some insightful video that swayed my purchase decision.

Granted, I presume he does get NFR tools from reps, etc for his reviews....so I would think there is some legitimacy on whatever is being discussed about RTR and the release of XYZ

Sure , I remember that too. It inspired me to start a thread here entitled "M28 lives!" But I had not heard of any other tools.

Every time I've checked HD's site that hammer drill showed out of stock, but I haven't checked lately and don't feel like checking today. I don't need another SDS drill so I don't much care.

Depends how long you've had it. I just recently had mine take a dump. Got it fixed at a Milwaukee service center. Mine didn't sheer anything off the brain basically took a ****. You would use it and the next minute get nothing. Over and over same thing.

That is the problem I forsee with brushless tools....I've yet to experience the issue with my Red Tools though. I was using brushless 9 plus years ago, and experienced similar issues on another brand.

The challenge/problem on a reliability standpoint is when or not the that small little circuit board that does the ac/dc. etc gives up the ghost

IMO, the drill/impact combo isn't the same tool as the screwdriver.
Could they be used for it? Sure.

Yeah my M12 Fuel hex screwdriver is used a lot, almost wish I didnt get it and kept the regular version as the Fuel one is too powerful, stripped a screw on setting 6 other day, guess I need to keep it on torque setting 2. Use to use the old one on 12ish all the time....

IMO, the drill/impact combo isn't the same tool as the screwdriver.
Could they be used for it? Sure.

I've got them all and the screwdriver is by far the most used...

Screw it! I just ordered it because it was a great deal. I wanted a second one anyway.

I got the Fuel 1/4 Hex Drive Screwdriver with adjustable clutch after I stripped a few screws using the impact driver. I did find it interesting that other than the hex collet the rest of it is exactly the same as the drill

As a bare tool the 2402 with free 2.0 battery promo was $10 cheaper than the standard 2406-22 kit. or $30 more than the 2406 bare tool at the time. So I went that deal. I didn't need any more chargers for sure or want more 1.5ah batteries either.

The 2401-20 was my first hex driver and it was a recon off Amazon for less than $40. So tiny and lightweight at 275 in.lb compared to the current FUEL doesn't even seem like a pro grade tool but I still like it. Sweet little unit for nut driver use with appliances or electronics assembly or repair. Just mostly leave that one right on my garage bench these days.

I usually keep mine on the lowest setting, but I'm typically driving machine screws for receptacle covers. Even on that it'll break the plastic cover if I'm not careful.

What's nice about the Fuel version is that if you need to drive a screw into wood that it can handle it no problem.

Just rounded out my M12 collection with a new Hackzall and Circular saw from CPO. I bought the Hackzall new since they had a promo that included a free m12 6ah battery free with purchase. The circular saw was CPO, but looks new and unused.

Funny all this came up, I was just thinking about posting how I just used my 2401 hex screwdriver a bunch. I replaced all the gold door hinges & knobs in the house w silver/nickel.

I've always kept the 2401 in the house for this stuff and it was perfect. I was sinking interior door hinge screws at 4 on the clutch w little worry of stripping.

The biggest problem w the 2401 is the single speed - too slow for drilling w 1/4 hex shank twist bits. But otherwise it's the perfect homeowner little driver.
