Ok - I just came home about 20 min ago to find the new M12 heated jacket on my doorstep. Wanted to give you guys some initial impressions compared to the models from the last two years..

For starters, the sizing on the new jackets are not at all consistent with the previous generations. The new one runs much larger. It's longer, and wider. The arms are longer too, and have the mobility gussets in the armpits. Probably a full size off from my old ones, and I'm not exaggerating.. I laid them on top of each other, flattened out on my bed, and there is a big difference in sizing... The XL I bought (which is what fit me in the previous gens) is way too big. I'm actually gonna run to HD and buy the kit in large and try that one, cause there's no way I can pull off the XL in this new model. It's just too big for me everywhere..

It's a lot heavier.. The layout and general pattern is basically the same, but there is a big difference in the weight. It's not nearly as lightweight as the old. The new one lost the large netted inside pocket, and there is no more protruding pocket for the battery and power source. It in the same location, but it's now just a flat zipper pocket.

It's a lot stiffer.. It's not free flowing and "swishy" like the old. It's a tough and stiff outside material

It's a lot more durable - the old ones needed to be guarded as you wore them.. Catch a nail or sharp metal and you'd for sure have a rip.. Not so much the case with this new one..

As of now I kinda have mixed feelings on it. The great thing about the old ones were how lightweight they were.. I'm a little put off since this thing doesn't fit right, so I'm gonna run to HD and get a large outta the store. Worst case is I just keep the kit and return the bare tool.. I'll decide that later, but I'm not waiting another 4 days for another size to show up, just to decide if I like this or not..

Update - I just got the new jacket in the large size too. So I have both the XL and Large with me. It fits MUCH better.. I'd say it's very close (maybe just a tad) tighter fitting than the XL sizes of the previous generations. The arms are the same length between the old XL and the new large. The weight difference isn't as drastic either between the two sizes. In my case, the large is still comfortably loose enough but just very slightly more snug than the previous XL. it's a pretty good fit, and I will be keeping the large over the XL. The material is a bit stiff but I have complete faith that it will loosen up with some wearing.. I'm much happier with the smaller size. This will be my first Milwaukee heated anything that's not in the XL size..

A word on the mobility - there is a huge difference in the mobility of your arms in this new jacket. With the older version, if I zip up the jacket, and then raise my arms over my head, the sleeves wind up being pulled about 6 inches below my wrists, and the bottom of the jacket is pulled over my waist. ( and keep in mind, this is with the larger size, and the softer, lighter jacket). With the gussets incorporated in the armpits of the new jacket, despite it being advertised as a smaller size, and being made of a heavier and stiffer material - this does not happen nearly as bad. While the bottom of the jacket still gets pulled up a bit,(maybe half as much) the sleeves are only pulled maybe an inch and half down with my arms fully raised.

Is the material more like a soft shell north face/rei style jacket or closer to a slicker wind breaker type material?

Anyone else notice on the batteries that they made minor updates to them and the battery level lights are dimmer?

Neither.. it's closer to whats used on my Maxpedition backpack - or what used on one of the stiff Carhartt jackets. It's not a softshell like the previous ones. There's a Milwaukee demo where they take 60 grit sandpaper to it.. the sanding of course fucks up the material, but it didn't rip.. it will definitely survive a harsher work environments.

Going to have to run by home depot and try one of these things on.

I have last years model of jacket.. material seemed pretty tough on those? I'll compare if I end up getting one.

Keep in mind, for anyone looking to get the 9.0 - they are advertised as having twice the runtime as the 5.0 packs. Newer design is suppose the enable the cells to run cooler and therefore longer..

Only under certain conditions, such as when used in high power tools.

I bought a 9.0 battery. I'm very impressed with it so far. Its the same size a m28 battery, a little heavier.

So far I've used it in my 1/4" hex driver, multimaster, lights and kids power wheels.

It really is superior to the 5.0 in regards to run time.

Rubber boot should be in tomorrow... The impact isn't a one-key but it has a one key battery as it has the wireless symbol and different part number; any difference from a regular 5.0?

Things like this that make me think I sell stuff to low. I sell 5.0s for $65-70 and have that Fuel 1/2 going on the market for $160-170 next week. Pretty sure its already presold to a customer who said he wanted one.

I got the impact and 5.0 battery for 275 shipped

Well I can say I have my Milwaukee stuff priced pretty well, but it sure isn't flying out the door. I finally sold a 2457-22 ratchet kit for $169.00 I think there's just so much of it out there at this point. I have a 2762-22 kit with 5.0 batteries for $379.00 shipped and it's just sitting there. Got a new 2663-20 on Craigslist for $125.00 . Been on there for 2 weeks. Had one response so far.:dunno:

I easily sold two 2663-20 last week for $110 within a week of getting them. I am very competitive on price and rarely have things for a few weeks.... except a one key hammer drill which took forever to sell.

Are you guys breaking up kits? I still wanna get 2 of the new 3.0 m12 batteries but I don't think they come with any of the kit tools...

I have my eye on that new m18 cable cutter that's coming out.. will have to see if I can bribe one of our vendors again for that..

Different cells. The "original" 5.0 on the left and the newer "WIFI symboled" ones on the right.

So another jacket update - I have no idea what size I'm gonna keep between the large and the XL now.. I just spent like 15 min swapping back and forth between the 2 new ones, and my old XL.. Once I put on a tank top and long sleeve shirt, the large starts to feel a little too small now.. I don't like the feeling of the jacket "hugging" my chest. Even though it'll probably keep me warmer, it's annoying..

My old XL seems like it's right in between the sizes of the new jackets L and XL.. Decisions , decisions.......

You're killin me Milwaukee.. Maybe I'll just keep the XL now.. Blah

Just took the 9.0 out of the bag to show a friend, thought it was only higher/taller, but it is also longer, but the width is the same.

XC - 3" W x 4" L X 3" H
HD - 3" W x 5" L X 3.5" H

Yeah, for 110 bucks I'm sure they'll sell pretty quick. I needed a little more fotr the two I had. I sold one of them for good money, I'm going to have 6 of them here pretty soon if I break up these kits I bought.

Don't have any of those batteries. Yeah, I will be breaking up some sets. The same sets I pasted a picture of in an earlier post. The picture is minus the 2663-20 impact that's in the set.

Lol. Still waiting to hear how you pulled that one off..

My pelican lights should be showing up the next time this vendors shows up.. Hopefully he'll show up with all the Milwaukee stuff I requested too.. 3 search lights, 6 - 5.0 batteries, and the 6 bay charger..

The new rocket light WILL work off of an extension cord only correct?

Honestly I didn't do much. They posted about it on the official Milwaukee Facebook and I said I was disappointed that less than a year after the initial release, when I picked one up, they put this updated one out. Wasn't really complaining but just randomly typed it when I was scrolling through. The next day they sent me a private message asking for my info and confirming when and where I purchased the original one. Then they said the manager wanted to do something for me and they were going to send me one for being a loyal end user. I was skeptical as hell at first but the guy came through.
