Sunex! I have master metric and standard sets in 1/2 inch as well as the master 3/8 set with metric/sae plus swivels and torx and love it.
I got them with the rebates a year or so a go but I would happily pay full price for them.
Their warranty is unbeatable as well, just send them a pic of the broken piece and they will mail you out a new one.

FYI. For those planning or procrastinating on buying the fuel set to get the $200 discount promo at Home Depot.

The fuel sawzall and fuel saw at Home Depot that comes with the 9.0 battery Promo ends third week of January but some stores are already making the kit with the 9.0 battery inactive. This store was unable to find the 2 that were in stock but inactive. Went to next neighboring store and they had 1 of each.

The 9.0 saw kits come down to $182 with the one key combo added...

I might have to act on this..

Plenty of good choices out there guess it all depends on what you need and what you want to spend. Both Sunex and GearWrench offer really inclusive sets. Cant go wrong there

So just as FYI I did buy an SAE only impact set thru Eastwood to carry to my daily job for use with my original 2463 3/8 impact purchase so I wasn't splitting up my garage tool sets and I use it often on other impact drive tools too including my M18/M12 Fuels both sq. drive and 1/4 hex.

http://www.eastwood.com/deep-standard-impact-socket-3-8dr-16pcsae-eastwood.html

Overall it is a decent set for the money Cr Mo and has both shallow and deep up 3/4" and a solid storage box and they have held up well for me. Markings are only printed and aren't stamped though. (edit: they are stamped on the opposite side). No idea of OEM on it and of course it is import. Anyways first time buy is another 10% off too. I may have bough it on a percentage off sale too don't really remember now. :willy_nil

I would have liked to have gotten the metric offering too but its more money I and I don't think its that great a deal

Cheap being cheap a guy may grab the HF 68011 right now. With a coupon its only like $25.99, and get 3/8 and 1/2 drives in both metric an SAE sizing.

I have been contemplating getting one just to toss in the work truck. :dunno:

Now can't vouch for the quality on that set the only impact rated Frieght stuff I bought was some metric deep 1/2 so long ago that they came in steel storage box and very recently some extension bars both 1/2 and 3/8 wasn't overly impressed with them to say the least .

Maybe someone will do a followup question in a different forum on that set

If you go HF, make sure they are the PRO version. At least those are in CR MO and less chance of blowing up rather than the CR V

Sunex and Tekton make impact sockets that are both good, and Tektons don't skip sizes in some sets. In all honesty, just about any impact sockets will be fine. Impacts sockets will hardly ever break, there isn't a need to spend a lot of money on them. Many people on the forum use the hf sockets professionally.. I have some from hf, Tekton, sunex, Porter cable, husky.. I don't use them a lot, but they are all fine.. you also wouldn't be the first person to use chrome sockets with impacts.. the world won't end if you do.

I bought my Tekton 3/8" sets off Amazon. I have the SAE and Metric in both shallow and deep, that come in the red cases.. (4 sets in total) they are pretty decent for the money, and I liked that they came in cases since they are stored most of their life.

And BTW, I'm guilty... I exchanged the free 9.0 starter kit Milwaukee sent, and got one of the last 9.0, 7.25" circular saw kits around here for an even exchange.. might sell the 6.5" fuel saw I have now since I'll never need two. It's probably been used for an hour if that..

I have used mine for basic stud finding duties with decent results. Our garage has 1/2" OSB and 5/8" drywall over the studs on the house wall and I was able to find them without issue. The screen displays the stud as you roll over it which is helpful too. Any other stud finder I have used over the years was a pain in the **** and inaccurate (many under $75). I splurged a bit on this one.

I have not tried finding rebar or doing anything more advanced with it.

If you want to save $200 and are just using it for interior studs, grab a strong magnet (rare earth/neodymium) and glide it over the drywall until it finds a screw head holding the drywall to the stud. Find a couple of screws vertically and you can be sure there's a stud behind it!

I'm in the process of renovating my house and plan to give it a try on the plaster and lath walls. If it doesn't work, oh well. I'm doing work on the concrete floor in the basement and garage anyway so it will come in handy either way.

Don't think I want to move any further north than I am already. Wonder how good a company they are to work for...

I have the hf metric/sae 1/2" and 3/8 kit
I use the hell out of them at work, fleet maintenance on semi trailers from across the US for my company, no issues, the 1/2" fuel m18 hammers them and none have any cracks or any signs of abnormal wear

Keep that 6.5" saw. The blade is on the left and there are times that is just too handy. I've got both and I recently helped a friend build a deck. It was great being able to make trim cuts along the outside of the deck in a more comfortable position than the right hand version.

Anyone know if Milwaukee offers a cover for the 2754 3/8" Fuel impact? It seems the 49-16-2754 Tool Boot fits the 2654-20, 2655-20, and 2655B-20 only. That's the only boot I can find for the 3/8" impacts.

1st generation or 2nd generation? The 2754 has 4 mode settings and I understand the 1st generation cover won't fit.

second generation, only difference is that first generation had a bolt connecting two sides of the tool on the top and second generation is completely round. Boot still fits without any problems.

Now you tell me :). Oh well, can't cancel that order for a variety of reasons. Will see how it fits when everything arrives. If it won't work at all I'll order the 49-12-0012. I guess I should have waited a bit longer for more responses. Might have a 49-16-2754 for sale cheap if it won't work. :headscrat

Thanks one9gt.

Oh, by the way,I just ordered a 2754-22 that came with 3 total 5.0 batteries for $329 from CPO Milwaukee. Most of the other tools I've ordered bare tool only. I've got enough M18 tools now, I thought it might make sense to get some more big batteries and another charger.

I also ordered the 3/8" and 1/2" inch and metric deep Tekton sockets (4 sets total) along with the 3/8" and 1/2" extensions and universals from Amazon Smile while I was at it. I've always had a hodge·podge of impact sockets, now I'll have the whole range covered with no missing sizes.

The boot part number for the 2nd gen impacts have been posted before numerous times on this thread. Also, you could also reference the parts breakdown on milwaukee's site for optional accessories. Boots, belt holsters and repairable parts

This is what I got when I searched Milwaukee Tools for that part number:

Your results for '49-12-0012'

Your search for '49-12-0012' did not match any results

I did find one at eToolpros.com, ordered it. I now have a 49-16-2754 for sale.

I want to get the 1/2 compact impact 2755B-20 but I'm looking for a deal. It's $159 everywhere but I'd love to get a 20% off deal or something.

I ordered my 49-12-0012 boot for my 2755B directly from Milwaukee months ago - just give them a call and you can order it over the phone.

I still don't know why most of their retailers don't stock them...

While I'm sure it works fine, that's a much sloppier fit than the correct boot.

Actually its not sloppy at all, its a tight fit. Maybe it looks sloppy because of the shadows... But it protects the tool so that's all that matters.
And its only 24$ from hd.

Tight or not, the back bottom part hangs like a fat lip. Like you said though, it's cheaper, easier to get, and still works.

I still prefer the proper boot though [emoji6]
