Let's see that price keep on coming down. I still really want one but... for the forseeable future I have zero funds for any tools. :(

I'm lazy....

Bah humbug. Do it!! Get a fried or knock off battery from eBay. Mains AC to 18VDC power supply off eBay while you're at it. Get a cord, maybe some black silicone, and a strain relief at HD...bam. Super simple. But again, it'd only really work well for lights since tools draw current in higher bursts than that PS could handle.

I've been thinking of building an 1800w 18v AC/DC "battery" hookup for a while...should be enough juice for even high demand tools. It's an expensive project though. The PS's that powerful aren't small or cheap, which would require them to be outside the battery pack, which would then require beefy 6g+ welding leads from the battery to the PS, etc.

It'd be sick though

For those of you who pre ordered Milwaukee outdoor power equipment from Acme Tools, you can take advantage of the %17 off promo that ends today, if you call them. In my case, I'd already had a $20 off $100 Milwaukee promo applied, which they removed. If I'd realized I'd only save $30 I might not have bothered to call, but in any case the current promo is available on those preorders.

So I gave in and got the string trimmer kit with the 9.0 and charger and the blower by itself from ACME for 17% off each. Comes out to about $375-ish. No tax either so that saves me some more money.

Might just be my mood, but that seems oxymoronic (did i just invent a word?), a corded adapter for cordless tool?

Don't get me wrong, I get it. Particularly for something like a light that has constant draw. It just struck my funny bone. :bounce::bounce::bounce::bounce:

Haha does sound like we're going backwards

I'm lovin' all this great customer feedback :bounce:

You almost never hear them other tool guys guess they got nothing

So I bit before the ACME deal expired today and took the discount on the 2771-20 transfer pump and used the savings on the Sunex Bt Socket Speaker and tossed on the job site organizer to meet my free shipping quota, I really need that and probably a couple more eventually. The storage box was $5 more than me buying local at HD but figuring the sales tax and a 50 mile round trip to the store and back home I think I came out ahead. :D

I order using the $20 off $100 deal, saved $20 plus it included free gloves ($20 value).

So it makes the %17 discount an ok deal currently. Going to hold off on ordering the blower lol with this deal it bring it down to $123 (tool only) but with $6.** shipping, it's only a $19 savings

I had the same deal initially also. They kept the free gloves on the order. I guess for a five minute call to save $30 it was worth it, but I almost felt bad about. I'll be sure to check out Acme again when I need something.

Oh I see. Yeah that's a deal if they kept the gloves!

I thought the same thing about talk to TEXT, and then we have our phones read the text to us. I do get it, it's just there's some irony in there somewhere

HOLY MOLY
and to think I almost ordered a 2755B with the three 5.0 batteries today

LOL, I ordered a 2755B yesterday. I'm not crying though, I had a $50 HD gift card from Xmas.

In other Milwaukee news ('cause everyone cares) I sold my corded Sawzall last week. I can't remember the last time I used a corded Sawzall...I really think it was about 9 years ago. Not kidding.

edit: the "mid-torque" numbers look very 2663-ish

I've been following this thread for a few months now, mostly thinking of getting the compact M12 stuff for automotive work. Got the M12 set for a Christmas gift as my first entry into the Milwaukee line, and a few short trips to home depot later it was all over. With the combo deals my total out of pocket was ridiculously low, I think it was about $700 for all of this (not counting the M12 gift). Considering the two 9.0 batteries retail for $400 alone I think I did okay.

Lookin good!

Nice compliment of tools I especially like how your photo shows the comparative size between M12 and M18 Fuels sans the battery packs.

I am big a M12 fan :D

And cant beat that recent ratchet/drill/driver promo either

That Fuel sawzall and 7 1/4 circular saw are both awesome tools.

Great choice with the light too as it has the AC option

Very nice indeed

Why oh why does the ad show the male model with a latex glove while using an impact wrench on a automotive wheel? :headscrat:headscrat:headscrat

I really cannot recall ever doing that. I might have used a glove, but latex? It's like crime scene investigation all over again. they need to turn up the lights and then use a flashlight. :):)

Wow what a fantastic compromise there just wasn't enough difference between the 2754 and the 2755B before to justify owning both

True. I ordered the 2755B so I could use my flip socket in the shop without adapting 3/8" on my 2754 up to 1/2". You already have to use a short extension with the flip socket so an adapter is not doing any favors for power transfer.

I'm also using the "specialty" oversize flip socket 18.5mm/19.5mm (best thing ever BTW) and I don't think they exist in 3/8" drive?

A lot of people do when wrenching for some level of protection but virtually no loss in dexterity. I don't like it but that's just me.

I hate latex but I am a big fan of nitrile gloves for automotive work. I get medical grade ones from kimberly clark and they don't lose any dexterity while offering very good durability.

Never seen that oversize before that I remember...must work great on bunged up wheel nuts.

I learned of 'em here. Here's a thread I started about cheap lugnuts ******* me off:
http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=319182

I just pulled the lugnuts off a '99 Ram with stupid decorative caps. The 19.5 was awesome on the ones that still had their caps, and the 18.5 was great on the ones that had lost their caps altogether LOL

Of course the answer is quality one-piece lugnuts but it's not my truck.

Nothing wrong with gloves. If you don't like them, don't wear them. I thought this thread was about Milwaukee?

It is about Milwaukee, it was their advert that had the gloves.

BTW, I'm just heaving fun here, no need to take this sh** seriously.

Ha! does seem virtually every video you watch these days the tool operator is wearing surgical type gloves, Cripes I probably still have 40 year old Harley grunge imbedded in my skin lol!. Overall I guess keeping your hands generally clean as possible and not letting toxic contaminates soak into your skin is good thing for longevity in life...never knew too many guys from my days in the factory that lived overly long lives forgoing certain safety equipment.

My favorite type of gloves is the nitrile micro coated nylon like these Liberty's Dexterity is really decent and can handle nuts, bolts, washers, screws and nails pretty good because they stretch fit nice and tight and are much more puncture resistant than other types. I like the foamed nitrile the best but they are a bit hot in warm weather. The plain are better in summer. I don't much like the other types hands sweat to much. When I was at my bud's custom motorcycle shop last week I noticed he had the orange ones like these now

But yes we digress here..,back to the tools! :D

I like the corded adapter idea. Most of my 18v Dewalt batteries were shot (ni-cad) when they came out with the 20v max system. Almost all of my tools were cordless. I ended up selling them all and buying Milwaukee (glad I did!), but if an adapter existed I probably would have bought one new battery and used the rest corded for a few more years. Rarely did I actually need the cordless capability, it was just convenient.

I don't expect the M12/M18 lines to go anywhere for at least another 5-10 years, so a similar adapter wouldn't be as useful to me now. Lithium ion batters seem to last longer too and don't lose as much power from sitting.

Yep, I am going to pick it up at home depot this week with some gift cards. I am completely blown away by how good the work light I got is. 3000 lumens, last for about 4 hours on high with the 9AH battery, and can be plugged in via AC. It is absolutely perfect for both general area lighting, as well as more focused lighting such as when compounding car paint and needing to check for swirls.

I had their hexagon stand light as well, but returned it because it has a really limited ability to aim downwards and I can't plug it into AC. I am considering the more expensive stand light with the three heads, but damn it's expensive. If they would drop price by $100 I would actually buy two of them, but it's hard for me to justify $400 for a light.

It would be a completely badass setup for lighting at the track though, when needing to do makeshift repairs at night...

I wish they'd offer the light and the bag together or just the bag separately. I don't need more batteries or chargers.

Here's my collection at this point. Plus the trimmer with 9.0 battery and the blower I pre ordered.

*Took the pictures down since my power tools aren't dirty enough and the hand tools are of poor quality*

I also have a few small things here and there like my M12 lights but this is the bulk of my Milwaukee addiction.
