can anyone tell me which one it is, and how to decode it?

I believe the location varies depending on the battery all mine except the latest 5.0 and 9.0 all have a date code embossed in the top like in this photo

But on the others it looks to me to be the second set of 6 numbers from the right

I got an e-mail from ACME Tools that they are having a sale on the Milwaukee 2797-22 fuel drill / driver kit for $249.00. I tried to do a comparison with the 2897-22 kit and found the only difference was the 2797 came with 2-4AO batteries and the 2897 came with 2-5AO batteries. The 2897-22 also comes with a free bare tool like a sawzall, grinder, or an extra battery.

I got an e-mail from ACME Tools that they are having a sale on the Milwaukee 2797-22 fuel drill / driver kit for $249.00. I tried to do a comparison with the 2897-22 kit and found the only difference was the 2797 came with 2-4AO batteries and the 2897 came with 2-5AO batteries. The 2897-22 also comes with a free bare tool like a sawzall, grinder, or an extra battery.

2797 is the older Gen 1 combo pkg I have it. Plenty powerful. And don't see myself upgrading it anytime soon.

Yes the earlier version did have the 4.0AH XC batteries and the hammer drill spec'd at 750 in. lbs Additionally the impact driver has 3 modes only. Overall$249 is a good price and the tools are still very competitive on the mkt.


Besides the 5.0 ah battery upgrade included with the latest 2897 Gen 2 kit, the current hammer drill now is now rated for 1200 in lbs torque and the impact driver has a 4th mode setting for driving metal screws along with a bump up in max torque also. So those are the major differences and I believe both tool's overall size dimensions have been slightly redesigned too.

And the free tool or batteries pretty much makes a 2897 deal a no brainer if one can afford the additional cash outlay and wants the xtra's.

Decided that it was time to upgrade to brushless. After $250 in gift cards, and selling my brushed impact kit, it only cost me about $30 out of pocket.

By the way, anyone have any tips on picking up a bigger battery and a grinder? Hoping to find a good deal.

Talking to the people right here might be a good a place to find an XC battery. Ebay does offer numerous choices if you shop there, and seen some Milwaukee grinder auctions too.

Any specific model grinder you looking for like maybe a Fuel brushless? Of course there still is a brushed model too. The older Fuel paddle switch (non braking) is down to $149 most places now. I think the reg locking switch model is still at $169 list though.

My advice if you want something new is to wait patiently for a percentage off promo with one of the online vendors. ACME runs them often as does CPO.
Probably be one soon again maybe this month and/or in February

Another NON - Milwaukee thing I'll post in here.. if anyone has the Amazon Firestick ( may work on others too) or an android smartphone that can cast your phone onto a tv. (I'm using the google chromecast on my tv for this, $25 or $35) you need to get the Kodi app if you don't already have this or know about it..

You need wifi or unlimited data plan to use this app..

Google instructions, or download the Kodi app to your firestick (maybe others) or android smartphone. Then google instructions how to install Exodus, and then Phoenix onto Kodi. Exodus is dominating the add ons, Phoenix is rated #2..

Between those too addons for Kodi, many (maybe even all, there's so many) regular series, premium series tv shows are listed and available to watch for free. Dozens of movies on pay-per-view, some still in theaters are also on there.. some of the new in theater movies don't have the best quality, but most of the ones out of theaters are available in HD. you can watch on your phone or android tablet, but the firestick (dunno about Roku, you can check) and chromecast with smartphone will put it on your tv.. been watching movies all weekend playing with this thing..

It's does movies, tv series, tv shows, music, news, regular channels... I've only begun to play with this.. but if you only download one thing for Kodi, do the Exodus add on.. it's a bit confusing, just follow instructions. I'm using the "Jarvis" version of Kodi and it works fine. There's a newer version but I think it's still in Beta testing..

Ryobi just introduced a new brushless cordless belt sander and trim/palm router.. you can pretty much BET the farm that an M18 trim router is in the near future now that Ridgid and Ryobi both have one... I'd bet the Milwaukee will be brushless. The belt sander looks pretty cool too.. maybe a future Milwaukee product as well.....

Yeah, I strongly considered getting the fuel, but considering the price difference and that the brushless had the free bare tool promo going, I went with them.

I'm a heavy duty home user most of the year, and I use them professionally during the summer, but the biggest draw for either set for me was the lack of brushes. Like I said, I use them a lot, and replacing the brushes was both a pain in the *** and a regular additional expense.

Just received my m18 wet/dry vac from acme using the 17% off code. This thing is a beast, no wonder it goes through batteries like nothing. Sounds like it could **** a golf ball through a straw. Luckily I picked up a 9.0 starter set with free 7 1/4" Circ saw from HD last week [emoji13][emoji16]...at least I'll get that extra 15 minutes now lol

So just read a review and watched the video from the tool fools on the new Milwaukee 2317 inspection camera.

Pretty fancy. It has a rotating camera head, a removable screen and an SDS recording card. Audio and video capability plus 4x zoom.

The one they didn't give out in the review was the price (and just it looked up it ain't cheap) Looks like its sold as a -21 kit only and @ $699



I'll just stick with my simple 2313-20 (rotating screen /no picture/video capture) for the time being thank you.

And of course there are other camera options out there on the mkt too.

True, I haven't. The video review I found on it seemed to say the video quality went down quite a bit when using it wirelessly. No idea if that's true or not.

I messed with an Extech, and it also had some occasional issues in wireless mode.

If Milwaukee releases a smaller diameter camera... this is downright affordable for what it is, if the picture and field of view are good.

And the fact that the Milwaukee camera cable comes off of the handle part, that is a good feature for when the articulating end gets snagged on something and is broken.

That could be good for those not wanting to fork up the whole $400 to get a discount on a tool or battery.

I'm curious what the new one is like.. dunno if anyone on here has bought one yet. Just a dry vac though I think. I use that wet/dry vac all over.. makes life so much easier without the cord. Filter is super easy to clean.. I just hose it off in my slop sink and it's like new again.. I cleaned up and fixed my lawn mower, and a mower sized leaf vac that hadn't run in years. Filter was filled with dirt and grass.. 30 seconds in the sink and it was new again..

Used it to empty some water out of my one piece toilet to replace all the seals and install a new flush and fill kit.. the motor didn't even hesitate with the crevice tool installed, and fully submerged in water sucking it up. Pretty amazing for something running off batteries..

I have yet to get the new one dirty, I am curious also lol. I tend not to use new tools until I need to in case I decide to get rid of it then I can still sell as new, like my M12 vac which I had for 3 months, never used and sold when the M18 new dry one was release. I will use the M18 one tomorrow just so I can post my thoughts.

I'm curious what the new one is like.. dunno if anyone on here has bought one yet. Just a dry vac though I think.

I have the newer M18 dry vac. It's great! I sucked up a ton of drywall and ceiling tile dust yesterday with it. It didn't struggle at all.

I also like how it has a lock for the switch to stay on. That way I can use my multitool to cut the holes and keep the vac hose right near the exiting dust. I'm going to pick up the dust extractor attachment for the multitool soon.
