So I tossed on the new 48-229316 fiberglass handle hammer along with a 25 ft "promo" tape measure, the 48-22-6625 F "compact" for $9.99 to get the free shipping offer with my purchase of 2866-22CT they had on sale for $159 last week
The screw gun at that price sold so well that some are backordered to the next shipment later this week...including mine!
Anyhow they sent the hammer and tape right out and my Fed Ex delivery gal brought them this afternoon even put them inside the garage for me as it looked it looked like rain.
I already had the 48-22-5116 16ft magnetic end tape and I do like it but sometimes the magnet is a hindrance to me so I really wanted to have a Milwaukee branded tape without that feature. Now I don't really know if the basic 48-22 6625 at $14.99 list is any different than the "F" model but I opted for the less expensive promo offer. There was also a cheaper "Contactor" series of tapes??? at ACME. Misprint of contractor don't know but they are also listed at the HD website in the exact same way!
So the promo one its just ok guess, I cant complain much for the price and I will use it until it breaks. One thing that it has that I do like was a belt hook very similar to my Stanley Powerlock and FatMax and Starret tapes and not the wire style that is on the other Milwaukee models.
But for those looking the magnetic 51's and the Premium 71's are definitely much nicer with better rubber overmold and are a much more rigid tape, along with having better lock and release button.
Maybe I should have really gotten myself 48-22-5131 30 ft. tape instead but that was also approx. 3x the price of this and I was just looking for a filler to off set the shipping charges and really wasn't into spending any more at that moment.
Just to note there are plenty of other tape measure options too at least at ACME (almost too many really

) like a twin pk of 25ft magnetic end tapes and also a 25' tape and utilty knife offer. Both deals are like $25
_______________
So now the 19oz fiberglass hammer is a bit different than the others I have, several Estwings and 20 oz Craftsman all steel and all have been with me for years but I was wanting one with a decent fiberglass handle.
I do have one 16oz Tekton with a fiberglass handle I keep around for various tasks something I gleaned from my flea market tool sales and it works but they are far from anything anyone would call professional grade, plus I only sell them for $5.00 ea. (and actually I had picked the best of the lot as they all had various imperfections)
So I gave the hammer a quick workout and pounded down around 50 common head nails of various lengths 10D, 12D, 16D into construction lumber. At first I didn't know if I'd like it but it grows on ya but could use just a bit more cushioning in the grip. Overall its quite lightweight and has a much longer handle than most of the others and is just about even the 22 oz Estwing framer.
On my digital scale the 19 oz Milwaukee hammer weighed up at 1.88 lbs, the 20oz Craftsman 2.01 and the big Estwing is 2.02 lbs. And just as a comparison a rubber gripped 16 oz Estwing my usual everyday hammer was 1.63 lbs, a leather handle Estwing was 1.33, and the Tekton one 16oz was 1.69 lbs
