M12 Jigsaw is nice. I don't use it often, but it is very handy when needed.

Thanks... I kinda sorta went overboard with my "M12 gonna buy a few" thing... Drill, Impact, 2nd Impact, Right angle Impact, Screwdriver, Hackzall, Polisher... batteries for everyone... etc etc etc...

OH yea... light with USB charger too... oh and bags... 4 bags...

OH yea... band saw too... yea forgot that one...

So the Jig has to wait.

One of mine is going in the garage, considering if theres a place in the house the wife wont complain putting the second one to store the house M12 stuff. Another cool thing on this cabinet is the pegboard sides.

If I had a garage to put that in, I'd buy 2...

First time I've ever used cordless in my notcher. My new M28 drill.

I was notching 2 3/8" oilfield pipe with 2 3/8" and 3" hole saws (the latter being a poor quick substitute for 2.5" pipe = 2 7/8" OD). It did great. I never tried my 2704 but figured the finicky protections would kick in constantly. Step "up" to an old-school dumb brushed motor and it just goes and goes and never thinks to stop 'cause it can't think.

All these guys thinking Fuel is the ticket for everything are just buying into The Emporer's New Clothes.

I suspect many here don't understand the demands a 3" hole saw places on a drill in pipe like this which is quite large and heavy wall in the general world of roll-cage-building type fab

Looks like a beast of a drill and that's a demanding task for sure. It's cool seeing M28 tools in use.

But just because it's brushed, doesn't mean it's a "dumb" tool. I bet it has all of the same "protections" as a brushless tool, but with a different drive circuit.

If that drill is able to plow through tough stuff, I wouldn't be so quick to discount the advantage of extra voltage and battery cells in the packs! Just look at M12 vs. M18...only a 2-cell difference (granted a 67% increase in cell count)...but man do those 2 extra cells pack a punch. Fuel or not, that baby has some serious power. I'd love to try one.

I think this is akin to saying that a cordless, or even CORDED "hammer drill" will be better in concrete than an actual Hilti-type hammer drill.

The right tool for the job, or so they say......

A brushed M18 drill can do quite a bit of work. A brushless (FUEL or non) should be able to do at least a bit more work. A good corded might be able to do better than both.

But its also a matter of need.....do I *need* a Hilti to drill 1/8" holes in concrete to screw a window frame to? Absolutely not.

Do I *need* an M28 cordless (or good corded) drill to notch out heavy wall 3" diameter pipe? Hell yes.

That's no joke Nancy

Let me preface this with the fact that I'm a painter, not a pipe notching type person. I've always wondered how the hell that was done, and now I know. Never dawned on me that the "notch" is simply a partial circumference of a larger diameter circle, until I saw the picture.

Then the heavens parted, the light shone down upon me, and the angels sang.....:D

Well, the M18 jigsaw is far from perfect. For one, it doesn't have a light. Come on now! Two, the base seems wobbly-ish...not very Milwaukee of them. Three, those two things right there have kept me from buying one for a few years now. If they're going to take the time to upgrade the tool, they mine as well make it Fuel.

I know the M12 version has a light, yeah yeah...I want an M18 tool. Bah humbug :bounce:

I just bought one ... true no light ...but it cuts 1/4 steel like butter.... no wobbles here

Click the free work gloves pic.

http://www.acmetools.com/shop/tools/milwaukee-tools

Just FYI, the shirts are the same price on the hd site, with no free gloves. And thanks for asking for a link. I just friggin bought another one.

So I had to go to the HF store to pick up more cheap tools for my weekend sales (cuz everbody loves cheap tools right ;) ) and that is right next door to the HD store so I went in there too to look and see what Milwaukee gloves they had thinking I could size them up and figure what I need to order for the ACME deal.

And all they had WAS the Flex gloves and LARGE was smallest size they stocked which where a bit too large so know I now what size I need to order. Just as a note I also have Med. sized gloves in both the HF Hardy Mechanics and the overpriced Mechanixs brand padded impact gloves.

So I got see BOTH jigsaw in my local HD today I have to say there is world of difference between the M12 version and the M18 tool. And just on quick glance I didn't even take the time to price them out..a M12 unit be handy for me. I use the M12 line for job support a lot

I have the Ridgid 18V portable vacuum... it really ***** great. Doesn't last real long but is great for quick clean ups...

I do have the M18 wet dry unit and that REALLY ***** too! :wtf:

I always use the compact battery on the vac cause it lasts a long time, threw a XC 6.0 on it yesterday and its more powerful, sounds like a Fuel version now.

I have been using a 4.0 steadily for while now with decent results had tried the 3.0 XC but like the 4.0 better. I'm sure it would perform great with 6.0 I just hate wasting THAT kind of battery on the little vac.

Just as FYI guys I am generally happy with vac especially for sawdust cleanup around my chop saw just wish it pick up a bit more larger heavier stuff.

brushes are for painters... not motors.

Pines...funniest statement I read in while... Thks for the chuckle! :D

Wow you guys been busy today but I have question here...

Everybody's really liking that Lowes storage unit including me ;) but I work as carpenter too and build a lot of stuff especially for the business that employs me and considering ALL the tools most of you guys own here  who would consider making a similar unit out of plywood

Would it be worth your effort and skill set? :headscrat

Just as example I got some marching orders today from my employer now and have to modify an old wood laminate dvd storage case and make a display cabinet for jams and jellys relishes and sauces out of it. Hauled it home tonight and I have a bunch of leftover scrap stock material that I can build shelves with

And I once I remove all the dowels and sliders I will add some ripped strips as inside wall supports for the new shelves and form some plugs where needed to fill any additional holes nothing fancy but neat. It'll look allright when I'm done I figure. :eyecrazy:

$99 is cheap enough for that Lowes Unit and if I had a Lowes I would have to see it in person to assess it for sure but seems like one sheet of plywood do the job wouldn't it? A little black paint and $5.00 muiti outlet adapter from HF finish it up

I recall seeing these quite a while back. One of the online tool reviewers profiled them when they first released and opened the discussion on building a similar unit for your own vs buying it.

If I remember right seemed the consensus was all for a pro build your own cabinet. :dunno:

I actually created an 6 bin cart on wheels... that stores my milwaukees, dewalts, and several sets of "things" used on my table saw... Magnaswitch, etc...

I made it out of a cheap **** bookshelf that I modified and mounted UPSIDE down on a wheeled dolly from TSC... I boxed the top (woulda been the bottom)... it stores the custom box I made for my dado set and my previously mentioned 18v ridgid vacuum... I have a "holster" for the vacuum wand too...

The back of the cart has my collection of hose clamps with their stand and a shelf for my Drill Doctor...

It's all fabricated now... needs paint...

OH YEA... the 6 cubbies it generated ... 4 of them have wooden bins... one is painted black and yellow "dewalt"... 2 cubbies of dewalt bags... and 3 bins containing the other items...

I should photo it.. but was waiting for paint.

If you can build it out of wood I'd say go for it. You can customize it how you want and it will be stronger for sure. For me the time it would take to make it is way too long. I'm not setup to make stuff like that so the $99 was a no brainer.

I'm somewhat curious on hanging the Milwaukee pistol grip tools in the upright position

Some of the other brands have much bigger motor heads it seems. So often I wonder how the most the Milwaukee's would hang.

Upside down by the battery seems logical and may be better I just straight edged a 2754 and it looks like even with a standard belt clip it should hang just fine

Repurposing stuff is always cool

Thanks for sharing Pines

Marketing and Consumerism has changed the game immensely over the past few decades I'm plenty old enough to remember how most stuff was often hand built years back grew up with making ur own tool totes and job boxes out wood. My grandfather had a big bench top tool chest that had sliding wood drawers, lockable closing lid etc. :D

I still have in my garage this huge 2 x 2 x4 ft job site storage box on heavy duty swivel casters with one way screws on all the hinges and hasps (for some security) and has wide nylon webbing screwed down on the sidewalls to act as tool holder pockets to hold saw blades and smaller hand tool and wrenches etc. All painted red like Craftsman or maybe now like MILWAUKEE :wtf:
Even when I started with motorcycles people built there own bike benches in some form whether welded metal but often from wood. My bud with bike shop still has this huge wood roll around workbench with storage that he still uses today...the old goat!

Nothing fancy there but finally do have steel air over hydraulic bike benches now.

Job site tip....at the risk of looking like a homeless person grocery shopping carts do make good rolling tool carts too :lol_hitti

Thats sweet, looks just like the Kobalt, like others said time is the factor.

Picked up one of my Kobalts yesterday, was a long wait cause it "disappeared" but they found it and gave me another 10% off for the hassle, ended up $65 before tax. Have 2 more to be picked up at another store for $89 and $72, gonna try to get them to reduce the 89 to 72.

Btw the employees in the store yesterday had no idea Lowes.com had 10% off sitewide for 2 days.

The wacker kit that got you a freebie is backordered till at leaat Sept, so nothing that helps you now. One site said sold out for the season, dk what that means. Perhaps there will be a deal on the bare tool wacker in August.

Is there any promotions going on for the Milwaukee weedeater ?

Is this like when Fred Flintstone buys Wilma a bowling ball for her birthday? :bounce:

YES... its our deal... she gets what she wants... so do I...

She'll love it... Just make sure to line her out with a few projects when you hive it to her.

Considering the Kobalt storage thing in wood... she would love it... :bounce:

It comes down to being a master couponer. Nearly all of the prices he posts are unheard of to the common man since he stacks coupons on top of 2am flash sales or buys 8 "xyz" kits at a time and parts them out. It's neat, but don't get your hopes up thinking you can easily get his prices.

Dacan, I sincerely commend your bargaining efforts. You should put an asterisk next to all of your prices and have a disclaimer in your sig [emoji23]

LMFAO... The 2am double or triple discs are rare, quadruple is like winning the lotto. Figured everyone checks the hot deals every few days as the Lowes Mon-Tues deals were a hot topic. Lowes offering 10% sitewide is huge news.

Not sure if I am gifted or skilled, but it has its drawbacks. I wont buy something without a large disc, disc + freebie or lowered price + disc, so sometimes I have to wait to get what I want.

Guess the Kobalt cabinet was triple deal, lower price plus double disc.

The one Milwaukee I would not recommend is the M12 hand held vacuum. It doesnt have as much suction as i was hoping. The only plus side for me is it uses the M12 battery.

So I had 2 new Milwaukee high torque impacts show up in the 7/16 hex drive utility version, and 2 new fuel one key hammer drill and impact driver sets too.. of course, the auger bits, hammer drill bits, and driver sets to go with them are all red too.. hd had a deal where you got a 2 pack of 3.0 batteries free with the purchase, so there's a total of 12 new m18 batteries floating around at my new place of work.. I'm quickly bringing them into the 21st century..

The plan is to now say - "well since you have all these batteries now, you should really consider the cordless lighting options like the m18 search lights and rocket lights"

No problem them reducing the 89 to match the one I also ordered from the store at $72, considering one was floor model would not of accepted anything less. So 3 cabinets for $210 plus tax. 2 to be mounted above Milwaukee 60", need to find a good spot in the house for the other.

Never be afraid to ask for a disc even if you already ordered and paid, lesson 1.

Hey,
Kinda new here, but been lurking for a while. The Milwaukee thread is one of my favorites, as I use the Milwaukee cordless daily as remodeling contractor. It's cool to see things from a different viewpoint. There seems to be a lot of mechanics on here, and lots of talk about the cordless impact guns. It's also neat to see that I'm not the only person to get excited about all the new light products they are coming out with. Though I usually use the lights for camping more than working.

Just burned up my second Milwaukee OMT, the M18 last week, and trying to decide if I will go Fein cordless, or try out the Dewalt, or stay with the M18.

Probably going to pick up the jigsaw and omt tomorrow. Any blade suggestions for the jigsaw and omt? Scraping and sanding attachments for the omt?

Bosch blades for the Jigsaw.

For the OMT, the Bosch carbide blades are every bit worth their price tag compared to the cheaper blades. I don't know much about the sanding pads, except the backing pads burn up way too quickly. There are better tools out there if sanding is what you're after.

And yes, the M12 vac is the biggest disappointment I've ever purchased.

The M18 canister vac is much better.
