Lol, guess they gave it the Rover name on the refresh to accomodate the 9.0 and upped the lumens. First time here anyones called it that. So whats the new M18 one gonna be called thats like the M12 rover.

Unlikely this year unless its a secret, possibly next year. The M18 Fuel 3/8 is already​ on V2. I would rather them focus on something else instead of making the 3/8 more powerful. Whats wrong with the mid torque being 1/2"? Just buy more sockets lol... I have more 1/2 impact sets than 3/8s. Do you want the 3/8 to be more compact? Now a 3/8 impact the size of the M12 one which does 300 ft lbs I would be game for.

Hopefully Milwaukee can build a Ingersoll W5132 rival, trying to avoid the mid torque 2861-20 as it is half inch

^^ weight and space, I use mostly 3/8 on auto repairs, 1/2 only comes on real stubborn stuff, 3/8 impact with 3/8 swivels for me is better than 1/2 impact with 1/2 swivels for example

Speaking of lights the M12 Mag Light with free hardline EDC knife is avaiable again for $99. Will let ya know if it can be had cheaper. Model # is 2355-20KN

The fuel grinder is great.... Similar power to a corded.... I have about 15-20 min on a 5 Ah and it still says it is over half full.

Thank you all for filling me in on the lights! Lots to consider!

I still really like the m18 lantern. I think it will be great to have camping, and in combines and such at work. Camping is the bigger use, as I have a snap on magnetic light on order currently. I feel like a rover would be essentially the same thing....

Now onto another topic anyone used a transfer pump to pump oils? I fully realize that is not what it is made for. But can it do it?

I don't see why it can't move light oils or diesel...but what kind of jobs are you thinking of?

Just my personal experience, I just bought the m18 non fuel grinder and I was majorly disappointed and I had very low expectations to begin with. I used it for about a week and returned it and have the fuel one on order now. It's on Amazon for around $155. The difference in runtime and power is very substantial on this application. The non fuel big down easier and the runtime was around 5 min on my compact battery and 8 on my 4.0. The fuel version is close to double and that us a HUGE difference. And the price is not a big difference, I paid $120 for the non fuel, it's definitely worth the extra $35. Hope this helps

Thanks for the review. I'll wait a bit then pick up the fuel. I love everything else fuel, so I am sure it is the better option. I'll wait till I can play with one in hand in the shop then decide! I definitely need a decent run time.

They make a thumb switch and a paddle switch. My first one was the paddle and stolen of my work truck. Work replaced it but I got the thumb switch. I liked the paddle better

Rule of thumb, if theres a Fuel version dont even think twice about it unless on a budget.

Hydraulic oil, possibly gear. I realize it is a stretch!

I think I gotta just get creative and use a small gear pump.

There are literally hundreds of different factors that would affect that. I am just guessing without looking up current draw curves but it would probably run like 10 times as long with no load as it would under almost stall conditions. The only way to compare them would be to have some sort of testing setup that applies constant resistance for the entire runtime. I was using mine for sharpening some mower blades as well as some other things but most of the run time was with a masonry disc cutting rock.

Holy cow...there must have been a defect...what were you doing to mitigate dust? If it was sucking dust into the motor that could have caused problems over an extended time.....but not in an hour.

Just the dust cover they provide. About 50 min of that hour was grinding rust from an old sander, the concrete was only like 10 min total run time. My guess is that Milwaukee will take care of it, every other tool has been phenomenal from them so far, and I was NOT a cordless advocate just a year ago even.

Edit: just created an eservice ticket with my new Milwaukee account, just have to box it up and drop it at a FedEx location... almost as easy as Snap On! Will update...

Got some freebies today. Home Depot Canada has the Milwaukee heavy duty tour going around. Ordered two high torque 1/2" impacts and two fuel grinders. One impact for me and the rest for co-workers. All come with a free 5.0 battery and charger. Pretty good deal.

Since I spent over a grand, I got a $120 credit. Spent the jist of it on the lantern, which is phenomenal. Love the light spectrum colour, and supposedly the battery life is stellar as well. It's currently charging my phone, and doing it well! Saw blades were on for $10, and the short (finally!!!!!) adapters for hex impacts I finally found. Hopefully they lock into the chuck well with my work tools. My older dewalt 18v at home doesn't engage them all the way. The tick was a promo item. Not sold on it yet, but I am sure I am not the only one since Milwaukee was giving them out for free!

Grabbed a fastback knife. Not sold on it yet. It doesn't flip open at all. It's binding and you have to manually pull it open. Which is not supposed to be needed. I'm gonna play with the screw tomorrow and see if I can't get it working better.

I really like my original Milwaukee Shockwave socket adapters they work so well with my Milwaukee tools and spin amazingly true. Plus they are shorter than most other aftermarket options.

OK... yea... mine (5033) locks in the driver... it's a show stopper if they slide in and out... but extra clearance... yea that's a toss up.

I will give it a look tomorrow! I fear you are right judging by the comments after yours that these may just be specialized tight clearance adapters, without a retention aspect. If they are not retained in the driver, that ***** big time. I may try using a burr and giving the impact a place to retain it.

I actually carry that fastback knife every day. I like that it's so stiff. I used to carry a different knife years ago with an integrated fire starter magnesium rod. One day, I looked down to discover it had opened in my pocket and I had the tip of a knife sticking out of the side of my jeans. From then on I was spooked off of carrying a knife. Then I found that one and I can guarantee there's no chance it's opening in my pocket! My only gripe with it is it's not very sharp from the factory. One of these days it'll bug me enough to sharpen it but for now it's serving well enough.

I played with it a bit today. Wore it all day, and I LOVE the belt clip. It slips on and off jeans very easily, but holds securely while it is in place.

I tweaked the torx screw that acts as the hinge, and it opens slightly easier... just easily enough that with a solid flick it will open.

I have to say. It won me over today. You are right though. Definitely not sharp. That's ok though. Gives me a reason to buy a nice sharpening stone. I've got a bunch of knives that can be done!

I'm thinking about gambling on the Gerit knockoff Milwaukee batteries on Amazon. They have pretty solid reviews.

I know I won't get the warranty and probably not the lifespan of a regular but even if it last half as long it's still a deal if they provide similar power and runtime.

Any input?

Honestly, your best bet might just be to buy one and try it for yourself.. if the reviews are good that is.. one thing I always check now with reviews is to see what the dates are when they were left (make sure it's not all in the same few weeks), and too see if it's disclosed that people were given product "for a fair an honest review", cause ya know that's a scam..
