Honestly, your best bet might just be to buy one and try it for yourself.. if the reviews are good that is.. one thing I always check now with reviews is to see what the dates are when they were left (make sure it's not all in the same few weeks), and too see if it's disclosed that people were given product "for a fair an honest review", cause ya know that's a scam..
I'll definitely check more reviews, thanks!

I have a question for all my fellow Milwaukee addicts. I need some big batteries I can leave at work without worrying about too much. I would like a few spare 5.0s as well. I can't shell out the dough for the regular Milwaukee's.

I'm thinking about gambling on the Gerit knockoff Milwaukee batteries on Amazon. They have pretty solid reviews.

I know I won't get the warranty and probably not the lifespan of a regular but even if it last half as long it's still a deal if they provide similar power and runtime.

Any input?

Do you need to use them in the cold? Is "work" heated 24/7?

Yeah it's very seldom I have to use my stuff outside for any extended period of time, and yes work is heated. I work at a glass plant where its 90° in January. So hopefully heat doesn't bother them too bad either

Let us know how it goes but original 5.0 and 9.0s can be reasonable on eBay or Amazon, generally as kit take-outs. If you can wait 'til BF I'm guessing we'll see some great deals again, like ToolUp's $43.50 per 5.0 in a 4-pack last year.

Where do the 6.0's stand? Those have allegedly been on the horizon for a couple years now. If that time ever comes the 5.0's will be blown out, which is why I THOUGHT ToolUp was dumping them off last year.

Shortly after the 5.0 deal ToolUp also had the 2.0's cheap, furthering my belief 3.0/6.0 for M18 was coming (just like M12)

Was just thinking the same thing, I have to think its guarenteed the new M12 Fuel releases this year will come with 3.0s and the V2 drill impact kit will be 3.0/6.0. Remember though if someones waiting for the new M12 V2 Fuel kit it will be up aroumd the $270+ price for a while, of course with a freebie from time to time.

Damn, googling "2558-21 ratchet" brings up nothing. Are the kits coming w a 2.0 or 3.0 compact??????

The M18 6.0 is out there in stock at places $150, prolly be a while before its in a kit or part of a promo, theres just too much 5.0 inventory to move I think. Maybe it will be used as a freebie in promos around the holidays like how they flooded the market with M12 6.0s now.

Wow, from a boat load of receiptless returns at HD (which didn't bother me one way or the other) to a Milwaukee distributor - - that's quite a leap.

Lol my one batch of receiptless returns, you guys still haven't gotten over that!

Meh I've been selling tools since 2011 one way or another. Not full time anymore but still have all my contacts and accounts setup.

I could beat all this Facebook pricing nonsense and set up a group buy on here....

Probably slow moving items. Maybe they're trying to dump inventory.

they dont seem to be on "vicious sale" everywhere. i think that this is just their way of smoothing out inventory levels, which is why the price would jump back up sometimes while they still had inventory.

i assume they determined that it was cheaper to do this than to move them to other stores.

although these kinds of policies do drive me (AKA the Customer) crazy. you would think they could just advertise it as a "local sale, not good at other stores" . . . . .

Is pre order on the 3/8 fuel ratchet cheaper or just faster? It's a want not a need for me but definitely on my list. Where do you pre order?

Well, while the free M12 6.0 promo is still going on (through 7/31 apparently) I went ahead and ordered the Fuel 2 speed screwdriver, 2402 (-22). I don't yet have this tool and sometimes an impact driver or drill just ain't quite right for light assembly. I went thru HD.com

I love the XC 6.0's, they go forever in my 2438 sander/polisher and should be great for the underhood light too.

At least for the M12s, the knockoffs are near indistinguishable and use decent quality cells. I've been wanting to snag an M18 one and do some circuit analysis on it and maybe this is the push I needed to finally fire on it.

Yeah I feel like you could snag a real M18 for the same price as those Gerit off branders on eBay. The knock off M18s are more expensive than I expected. M12 ones are dirt cheap but all the intelligence is in the tools in the M12 system. M18 has the protection integrated into the batteries.

My local Home Depot has one of the M18 nailers for $100 right now. Can't remember which one, though.

Wow! I'd be all over there if it were here.

I can get a single 5.0 Gerit for $42 all day every day. Sure I can get close to that if I buy a 4 pack on sale but individually? Not even close. I'm gonna grab one this week.

Neither really, it's a better tool and it's in the Fuel line. It will not be a budget model.

LOL, I had done the samething 2 yrs ago cause it was the only M12 Fuel I didnt have, said a while ago its too powerful, have damaged many ikea like furniture things using it, you need to keep it on 4/6 power for those things. I should of seen if it would of driven the 3/8 bolt to hang my living room Kobalt thing.

After reading all of the positive comments about the M18 Jobsite Fan (0886-20) I stopped by Home Depot to pick one up. They were priced at $69.00, but none were in stock. They are also out of stock at HD online.

ACME has them, but they are $79. Does anyone know where I can find one at a good price?

I think I got mine from Zoro with a 20% off coupon. It ended up in some way being a little lower than I could find it elsewhere. If you aren't in Illinois you also don't pay tax so that's a bonus. The jobsite fan is pretty awesome though, it has a fairly concentrated beam of air but I carry it with me basically the whole time I'm working outside, moving it around to always be pointed at me and it makes a big difference.

Looks like the 5.0's are sitting at $69 on Amazon. I'd pay the extra for the real deal and three year warranty from date of manufacture, but that's just me.

I didn't see any Gerit 9.0's ATM? There's one listing at $303 LOL. I tried ordering a real 9.0 at $99 plus $6 shipping. I'm assuming kit take-out. We'll see....

Not sure what you're showing? I asked about 9.0s and that's a photo of a listing for 5.0?
You said they were $67.99..... obviously at that price a genuine Milwaukee is a no brainer for 30 bucks more. But they aren't, they're $42.99.. big difference. I assumed most people have Prime these days.

I got a "Used - Very Good" 5.0Ah pack from warehouse for 8.00 shipped. The description says it would be repackaged but Im not sure how they managed to do that since the original packaging is a cardboard clamshell (unless they have empty Milwaukee cardboard clamshells?)

I havent opened it yet but it looks brand new just with a beat up cardboard pack.

For 8.00 I might open the package and actually open the case to check on what cells are there. Would be a crazy deal if its genuine Milwaukee.

Negative they are 69 bucks which makes it only about 25 bucks more than the generic you pointed out... which is well into the "no brainer" category for you.

Wow, I didn't realize they were that cheap for the authentic ones on amazon.. they didn't come up when I searched it. I was thinking HD prices which the generic is less than half of.

Nope, see above. I never said anything about $67.99.

I said $69 and I'd pay that for the "real deal" to get a 3 year warranty. Do you think Gerit is the "real deal" and do you think they come with a three year warranty?

Reading is important in the written language.

Also, I don't think the $42.99 price you're seeing has anything to do with being a Prime member. As I am a Prime member, though, I guess I can't say for sure unless I maybe I log out of Amazon.

edit: all my results were found by just searching "Milwaukee 5.0". Pretty easy.

My 2 cents on knock off batteries... I got a few 18v ridgid knock offs... they work fine.

So ... when I needed a NiCad 18v Dewalt... I picked up a pair at "batteries plus" near my house... ended up returning them within the 90 day warranty for store credit... got a rather nice QBeam flashlight instead.

End result... I lucked out 50% of the time with knock offs... your mileage may vary.

Jesus H Christ, who pissed in your cheerios man.. I'm dyslexic, excuse me for being off by a DOLLAR. I misread your original post. It doesn't take much to get you to throw a fit does it? I think it's time to take a break from the internet.

What was wrong with the other ones? Poor runtime?

They "way overheated" on their 2nd use and wouldn't hold a descent charge after that... Both dewalt knockoffs had the issue... One was worse than the other...

FYI... they were repacks in OEM Dewalt battery packs.

I WISH I tested them for voltage before bringing them in to complain... I only wanted them to replace them but he offered 100% store credit and I had my eye on that flashlight.

EDIT: No... I did not charge them when they were hot... I did not feel I was over taxing the tool (sawzall) at the time...
