Mid Tq vs low tq on common lug nuts.

I need a impact good to remove 125ft/lb lugs in the snow belt. I've found the 117lb rated m12 was good enough for 90ftlb. Any evidence that the 210ft/lb M18 Fuel impacts (2755b) won't be good enough?
I found a great deal (RocketIAQ $229 for the 3/8 2754 w/ 2 5.0 batteries) on one and will likely go for the lower powered unit. (they also have $40 4.0 batteries).

minor thread hi-jack:

I have a somewhat older M12 Hex driver, 2450-20. I have to pull out the collet ring in order to insert a hex bit. Newer versions have a different chuck (like dewalt) where you can simply just push in the hex bit and it will automatically catch.

Can I switch out the hex chuck on mine to a newer push-only style?

I haven't been on the thread, but am interested in the sale that was alluded to a couple of pages back.. I went back a month and didn't see specific references. Any help?

Otherwise, love to get updated on the goings on with Milwaukee.

Has anyone tried to order Milwaukee tee-shorts and other promotional items from their website? I've tried a couple of times and maybe that's only for dealers or ?? Currently, they are on "clearance" so something must be up.. but pretty cheap prices on stuff.

Ah yes, Sir King Speculator. Mr. Spec U. Lator. Speculator McSpeclton. You're right. You're always right. For the record, "design flaws" aren't synonymous with "performance". Something can work "just fine" but still have design flaws. I'd CTRL+C and CTRL+V the definitions for you, but that'd fit my M.O. that you've so artistically created for me way too perfectly. I'll just stick to saying that you're right, you're always right.

Always good to see passion about tools here.

For what it's worth, flexvolt uses 20700 cells, not 21700.

do you guys open them up to check? while i have no inside information, i would kind of assume that they would use whatever is cheapest that provides the performance/output they need, and would not hesitate to change to something else if they could save enough to make it worthwhile.

i will admit that i find the discussion of cell characteristics interesting, i just wonder if anyone has noticed, er, "drift" in what cells are used in a given battery when it has remained available for a few years (like the 1.5 or 2 AH M12 batteries. . . . . )

I do, though not the FlexVolt since I don't own one. Beyond being super expensive, it'd be pretty crazy of me to buy the mega battery for a system I don't own. They've got some info on their website you can go off of though. The Dewalt FlexVolt site shows the series vs paralell switching that it does and has some cutaway views of the batteries.

I believe you are right, thank you for the correction  Tesla is developing the 21700 cells right now, so I accidentally mixed them up. Being in the renewables industry, I've been keeping a very close eye on those...almost forgot about the 20700 actually :dunno:

Ha, great advice!

I've thought about the same thing myself. Last year, I got the Fuel Sawzall kit and it came with a pair of 5.0s. These ones were different than my older 5.0s as they felt slightly lighter and had that little "wifi/bluetooth" emblem on the back. They also don't do the light show party thing when you hold down the battery fuel gauge button. So I took the covers off of both a new 5.0 and the older 5.0 and noticed that different cells were being used (I posted this here awhile ago with pictures, I'm sure you can find it if you want to haha). I determined that the older pack uses the red LG 2500mAh cells and the newer pack uses teal Samsung "25r" 2500mAh cells.

My theory (based just on this observation and experience in supply chain contracting, but a theory nonetheless) is that the big tool companies use reputable battery brands and they may change brands when a contract expires or when a new big batch is made or something to that effect. A lot of it has to do with cost, so I bet that Samsung won "the project" this particular go around. Luckily, the difference between the LG and the Samsung are relatively minimal and at the end of the day they're both great high drain cells. I'm sure they also switch cells if they're having issues (i.e. perhaps why the 9.0 took so long to come to market).

Batteries man :rocker:

I know months ago I gave Ign a hard time about the idea of a cordless heatgun being kinda "hokey", but I must say...I think I'm changing my mind. It looks like it'd actually be pretty handy. I want a cordless heatgun.

I like the screwdriver ones that pop forward and eject the bit and stay popped forward until you push another bit in it then they snap shut. But I imagine on an impact driver it might pop open from the vibration.....maybe?

Well I found Ohio Power Tool's website annoying as f*** since they require you to register (no checkout as guest).

I proceeded to go through the thing of thinking I didn't have an account so I entered all my info, only to be told someone was already using my email address (me, apparently) and then had to request a new password, then reset the temporary password.....then my shopping cart was wiped out.

Sometimes online retailers make it too hard. I'm trying to give you money, just take it.

I've had that exact same scenario happen to me as well. Frustrating.

Went online at Milwaukee's Gear website (shirts, hats, etc.) and they're running a clearance sale on several items. Purchased 6 or so tee shirts (to fit the 80# smaller me) and a couple of nick knacks for about $30 or so... I wanted a shop stool top but those are out of stock (to change a short stool I have that is plain, over).

Thanks for this but shipping kinda killed my deal.

$30.00 worth of clothing (tshirts, hats), $15.00 shipping.

I think the trick is to order enough closeout stuff to spread out the high shipping, Did some things more than Q of 1, total 19 things, $19 shipping, still would buy it all for $1 more per item if didnt have to pay shipping.

Picked up a 18 gauge finish nailer from Home Depot for $95 on close out. Very happy with the performance, especially at the price.

I've had limited use with it but it seems to work very well.
