I see these nailers on display on the clearance rack at HD every time I'm there.
What's the battery life like on these nailers?

Like forever...

Honestly Winlinmac though they come with 2.0 you can even use the old 1.5 and unless your thinking of trimming out an entire house at once :D that battery will last along time...

hundreds and hundreds of shots

Will the older M18 charger charge the new 9.0ah batteries ?

Yes but it would seem a 9.0 will kill the 2710 AC/DC charger, at least charging from DC.

It may have just been coincidence too but that's how mine STB.

Until last week ours were at $349 as a clearance price...not much of a clearance

I've put about 300 nails through my 18 gauge and am only down one bar on the battery. They say upwards of 1200 nails

What nails are you using?

Tried out my brad nailer today and it misfired on the 2nd nail. Also had a couple shots where no nail was fed.

I'll stop by at a local HD later this week and will keep you posted via PM :)

Not sure. Gotta check the reviews on YouTube. If they have an extra Brad nailer I'll throw you a few bucks to ship one out to me

You quoted my entire post above.

YOU'RE KILLING ME

The charger you linked is neither the same model number or AC/DC

NOW, I just happened to charge a 5.0 on the 48-59-1810 last night and, well, it worked. I'm kinda afraid to try a 9.0 but I shouldn't be 'cause I just bought the charger new so it's under warranty. I begrudgingly bought the DC-only new-and-not-improved after my 2710 AC/DC died.

Typical Milwaukee: we'll add a feature (combo charger) and subtract a feature (AC). One step forward, one step back

I agree 100% on the charger in that they should've made it AC/DC.

I see that they lowered the peak charging current to 2.5 amps, down from 3. I wonder if that was done on purpose for longevity. Maybe that extra half amp caused the components to get to a temp that's on the upper end of their range and it didn't help having the bigger batteries taking longer to charge. That's my theory anyways.

And I don't know if it's a placebo effect or what, but I swear my 9.0 charges a little faster on the standard charger when I point a fan at it (and the charger vent). The standard charger does tend to get pretty toasty with a 9.0 on there.

I've used Porter Cable and Bostitch nails in my 15, 16 and 18 gauge Milwaukee nailers with no issues. Needless to say I'm very happy with them. Only complaint is there's no framing nailer, stapler, or pin nailer....

Strange...hopefully I didnt get a bad one (there arent any left around me), but I assume I could always get Milwaukee to fix or replace it.

Most of the bad reviews on these echo my limited experience....wonder if there are certain build dates where they got better.

I've had a terrible experience with the 18g and Porter Cable nails of various lengths. I think it's more of an issue with the nailer (or operator) as it can't consistently sink nails in pine... its' like the "hammer" misses the head of the nail. This was adjusting the dial from one end to the other as I worked down the board:

My experience was similar, but some of it was the operator (me). I was too lazy to move furniture out of my way, so I was leaning over a desk, holding the molding and trying to press down as hard as possible on the nailer.

I think at least some of it is the amount and evenness of pressure we get on the front of the nailer....once I was able to really lean into it and make it steady before firing, I started getting somewhat consistent nail depths. But there was still a couple that looked like they hadnt even fired a nail (unless the nail head was close enough to "white paint" that I couldnt tell)

Ill keep an eye on it...I like the form factor of the nailer, so I figure at worst it will make a round trip to/from Milwaukee

Check out the 2860/2861, it's the 1/2" drive mid-torque model. 450ft/lbs fastening torque and 600ft/lbs breakaway torque, I believe. I love mine, just having a hard time finding the rubber boot for it. Needed more torque than the compact but something smaller and lighter than the high-torque and this is a great compromise. I use it both at home and at work.

Found my boot...but I think I paid $40 for it. /sigh

Found this today. I think they are being replaced by nailer (tool only). $37 tool after I sell the battery and charger. Not bad.
f9f74d360000fb660f2cc084818314ce.jpg

I managed one of each:

18 ga brad
16 ga straight
15 ga angled

Only used the brad so far and was a little disappointed. Going to mess with it some more today to see if it was just my laziness or if its the tool. Hopefully Milwaukee can fix it if its the tool.

What's the cheapest way to get the M12 ratchet nowadays?

I have two dead M12 batteries, should probably replace them and get a full kit.

Messed with my 18 ga cordless a little more.

Fired 3 1-1/4" brads before a misfire, which then caused subsequent fires to be "dry"...got the divot in the wood but no brad. Cleared out misfire, retried, got about 4 nails in before the misfire again.

Switched to 1" brads. Fired off about 20 and they all went in consistent depth (changed depths along the way) with no misfires. Im sure I could have kept going but I stopped and changed back to 1-1/4" brads. Using a new strip of 1-1/4" brads and I must have fired another 15 or 20 without an issue. This was all into a Doug Fir 2x6 and I tested both single fire and bump fire modes.

So, I think the unit is capable, but I could just have had bad nails (I noticed a couple strips in the box had rusty tops...not sure if that causes the nails to freeze together too long, not feed smoothly, etc).

I just fired 50 2 1/2" galvanized 16 ga thru a double piece of 3/4 red oak with a construction piece 2x 6 SPF as a backer board and only THREE didn't countersink fully Two of those broke out thru the edge of the material second board My overlaps weren't perfect for my little sampling and the 3rd was either op error or maybe I hit a knot in the pine material

I got phone pictures but some reason at moment my cell phone to comp wireless transfer isn't happening I get that a lot recently. Service around here really ***** lately used to be good (I blame all the windmills they are building)

Anyways Chrisexv6 it very well could the brads. I have a whole box of 1000 Grip Rite 1-1/4inch that refuse to work in my HF pneumatic gun though I have other brands in various sizes that all work fine. Senco. Paslode even HF.

The **** Grip right came from HD. Just for the record I also have some Grip Rite framing nails 2" galvanized from a lumber yard that also misfire often. Personally I thing Grip Rite are pretty much **** and obviously the usually are the cheapest option out there, Hytachi is second

Have not a single misfire issue in 16 ga with my old air gun using the straight Dewalts or for that matter even these angled Hitachi's I recently got as the cheapest option for my new Miwaukee cordless

Look them over carefully I have some luck running a flat file along the side of heads of the 18's that give me problems before inserting them in the brad nailer gun

Ive never personally seen the 15 or 16 ga angled nailers in any store.

Only ever seen the 16ga straight and 18ga brad and it felt like HD never sold any and were just sitting on the same batch from the first shipment around last summer. Just an outrageous price, IMHO.

Eh.. probably better off.. got my eye on the heat gun and soldering iron for home at some point.

So far I'm up to 3 m18 fuel one key hammer drill and impact driver kits at work.. 2 m18 sawzalls, metal and pruning blades, impact driver and bit kits, 2 fuel 7/16 high torque impacts with auger bits, 3 demo screwdriver sets, some fastback utility knives, 50 pack of blades, 3 12" measuring wheels, keyhole saws, wooden tape measures, some 11 in 1 screwdrivers, extra m18 batteries, hammer drill bits sets, and like 3 of the metal uni bits (which are pretty awesome btw)..

Not bad for 2 months at a new job.. lol.. I WISH Milwaukee's pliers were better.. couldn't buy them in good conscience for here.. I got a whole bunch of channellock and Knipex stuff too for the trucks instead.. some small Coast flashlights too which are great (couldn't wait for the Milwaukee ones coming) and a bunch of other trade specific equipment. I really wanted to go with some kinda Milwaukee tool pouches but they just didn't have anything small enough for what we needed.. I see some more search lights in my future so long as they don't take this company credit card away. Lol..

I'll post some pics of those hats and sweatshirt whenever they show up.. hmm.. wonder if Anyone makes a Milwaukee fairing kit for my GSX-R..

Edit. Ok - prices listed but you can't order yet.. I just tried to buy the hardhat light, pen light, and that little worklight thing.

The hardhat light is 475 lumens, and the new small flashlight is 700 lumen.. damn.. the regular headlamp is 300 lumen too. The pen light is 100 lumen, and the little rover is 445.

Check it out, you can even buy replacement parts for the hardhat light-

I keep checking the link like the "add to cart" button is gonna suddenly work.. the hardhat and pen lights are definitely being ordered. Not cause I need them, just BECAUSE they are there.. maybe I'll wait on the little rover.. I dunno..

I'd like to be the first to predict an M18 12.0 battery coming next year.. has a single person alive even bought the m18 6.0?? I think that was just a waste to even create..

I went on stockup tool run with my boss Monday to the warehouse supplier where we get our tool tent stuff. (800mi round trip and I had to do all the driving too, drank so much coffee I couldn't sleep after I got back home that night  )

They had the 3103 chisel tip markers...cases of them there, so I got a few boxes to hawk off. Really really good price per piece.

Milwaukee-48-22-3103-Inkzall-Chisel-Tip-Marker.jpg

Just looking around CPO has them in their "Deal Zone" with limited stock just 5 pcs. and Tool Barn only shows 3 in stock.

So kind of wondered if they were dumping them off or just maybe an overstock item :dunno: Because a lot of the Tekton tools I get there are sometimes being superseded by a newer version like pliers with different grips or different packaging though there is lot of current stuff same as being sold online everywhere. Got some awesome deals on dead blow hammers, flare nut wrenches, groove lock pliers and few other things too.

Be great if I could get some other Milwaukee stuff there, I often do get the yellow Dewalt branded recip blades from this place. Nobody buys them much :D
