in the last year, i have only used air for three things:

filling tires (which is now covered, i just dont know how well yet)

releasing the brakes on my BP lift (and i would love to find something in a low voltage application to replace that. using an M12 battery i could just pop in would be a huge win)

a cut off tool.

would really like to see a cut off tool. it honestly doesnt seem beyond their ability, but i fear that their attention has wandered to other areas now.

I believe you can use up to a 2.5" cut off wheel in the M18 die grinder, with the proper arbor. Probably as close as you'll ever see to a dedicated cut off tool.

I'm also anxiously awaiting the M12 inflator, and I wouldn't mind seeing a M18 compressor in the future, much like the Ridgid model.

If you put a cutoff mandrel in you can use reg 3" cut off wheels but it's shady as hell. I did it once and I won't do it again. I love my M18 die grinder but I've found it doesn't like wide attachments. It works beautifully with carbide burrs and sanding flap wheels(1/4" shank) and high rpm rated wire wheels(no bigger than 1" or 1.5" diameter). Anything larger and it starts vibrating like crazy to the point that it's hard to hold in your hands. Idk if it's slop in the shaft of mine or if they're all like that. Still one of my fav tools

Oh god the runtime would be horrendous. Also the whole point of the 12V line is compactness. An angle grinder isn't compact so there's no real benefit to going with 12V. If you need to sand or lightly grind go with the M12 sander/polisher. I love mine

At least Milwaukee has been good about promoting tools, releasing them roughly on time, and then keeping them.

My biggest gripe when I had Craftsman C3 tools was that they wouldn't advertise new tools before release, they'd show up one day on the website, and 5-6 months later they'd be discontinued and you'd have to pay 3x the price to get a used one on eBay. Best tool decision I ever made was switching to Milwaukee.

Yes, but I wouldn't call it super comfortable. You'll have to try it for yourself and see.

i know that sounds flippant, but, as an example, they are going between 100$ and 110$ on ebay. at the local flea market, i imagine that they are less, assuming they are available. dont know about CL. they dont seem to be listed separately around here.

i have enough, but paid 90$ for two 5AH batteries shipped last year. would likely pay 90$ shipped for a 9AH now.

I've been picking up aND seeing more of BNIB 9.0s for $75 and $80. But... I am in Southern California where there is a lot of this stuff on Craigslist, offer up, let go, and the local Swapmeet. Your region may be different. Is definitely a buyer's market out here.

When I see them for sale for $100 I pass.

I buy them new for $90 at most. If I use a code even less. Personally I would never buy a used battery, unless it had a date code of the current year. Otherwise it's impossible to tell if it's been used for a month or for 3 years and just kept clean.

when i am done, i clean up. wipe down all the tools, put them away where they belong (which lets me know if i left something somewhere, because when i go to close the drawers on the tool chests, there is a missing tool.)


anyway . . . . based on a recommendation, i believe from here, i have been using "tub o towels" (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00022W4ZU/?tag=atomicindus08-20), which seem to work well. but i wonder about cleaning things like impacts, which have grills for venting the motor.

i clean even the power tools. am i going to damage them using these wipes? i mean, they are not dripping when i get done, but i usually run the wipe over the entire body to get rust dust off them . . . .

I only noticed because I got the M12 Fuel 3/8" Impact, and it stopped working after a few seconds. Well the battery popped out. Maybe i didn't put it in all the way, but it happened again. I went around to several of my M12 tools and it seemed the compact batteries released sometimes with no or the lightest of pressure on the release tabs. The XC batteries had a very solid connection. I was using two 3ah compact & 1 2ah compact for issues.

I just have a bunch of 2.0 batteries and never had an issue.

Got my Milwaukee to Ryobi adapter today.. very nice.. i have to charge up and top off my only Ryobi battery to be sure, but as of now, my Milwaukee 4.0 vs the Ryobi 4.0 makes the Ryobi impact sound like it just gained a new speed.. lol.. too early to tell for sure though..

I haven't used it on a tool that does "real work" like a drill or saw, but I'll be interested in hearing about it.

Lol.. no false alarm.. I just tried it again with both batteries off the charger.. now it sounds the same 4.0 vs 4.0.. Ryobi 4.0 vs Milwaukee 9.0 might be a different story. It does fit good though.. I'm happy..

For the longest time i would wipe down every tool I used almost every day, especially my more expensive fuel tools. I'm really weird about keeping them pretty clean. I would use WD-40 on a rag (only a little). I did this for over a year, it was a very effective way of cleaning them, but I did find over time the white of the Milwaukee lettering would come off. Not the end of the world but not a hard fix with a paint marker. Theres nothing strange about wanting to protect your investments.

I will recommend the boots, especially on the mid torque and 2763/67, as those are very heavy tools that when dropped hit the ground HARD

I wish Milwaukee made boots for everything.. even the batteries.. my Milwaukee stuff at work just gets thrown on top of each other inside a truck utility body.. there's no good way to organize them, and taking them in and out of cases is NOT happening..

I have 2 predictions - either it's introducing the chainsaw, which I wouldn't call a big breakthrough... Or maybe the 12.0 battery.

What would be even nicer is higher voltage batteries.. guess we'll see soon..

The new ratcheting wrenches are 144 tooth according to the press release if anyone's wondering.

Agreed 100%. I wonder if the M12 line will have any issues with the increased cell size in the handle section of the battery...

I'd be happy with an 18V 12.0, I'd love the 36v don't get me wrong, but for running my grinders and saws a 12.0 would be awesome. Getting an hour of heavy grinding would be nuts

Welp, I bit the bullet and bought the Dewalt cordless chainsaw... and the cordless framing nailer might be coming next. Looks like I am back to two platforms

Also drove to Milwaukee's service center next to their corporate headquarters. TONS of construction there... looks like they are expanding a ton! A friend of mine said they would fix my broken impacts right on the spot. No go, the service centers are basically shipping departments where they ship everything to a central location and then receive it again. You're better off doing the eService.

I will say they were very nice and did give me a free 3.0 for my troubles.

Do you have room for slotted pvc holders mounted vertically instead of horizontally? Another idea... once I used tools out of a tool trailer that had angled shelving with 4-5" dividers.
