I looked at the parts diagram from Milwaukee and found the part number for just the backing pad. They're available on ebay for about $12 each. I don't have any discs yet, so I can just buy whatever size I need for the backing pads I get.

Works freaking PERFECT. $6 investment in the 3" pad.

If I had a lathe... I would turn a new adapter M6 on one end... M9 on the other.

I went cheaper... you can do it to a number of different size pads. I'm basically making a pad to use with the M9 Post that is on the Milwaukee pad... The pad end is M6

Its M6 into the pad... it's M9 into the tool...

I have done it both ways... by fabricating the pad to accept the OEM M6 post end... and to fabricate the M9 end to go into the tool... depending on what I'm playing with.

Well first I did a few more cart tires today with the little inflator. And because of the small rim it was some effort to screw the hose on and off repeatedly. So after that I had to drive the main greenhouse store today in the "big city"

And they have an Auto Zone right nearby so stopped in looking for that SLIMEY adapter for use the little compressor. Of course no one on there even knew what I was asking about. I show where the air chucks etc. are. I looked around for moment or too and seen it on a hanging card. Less than $6 out the door, tried it out down at motorcycle shop on an old innertube with no valve stem in it, my buddy had just changed a wheel over for new tire, with new tube on the old one was laying there on the lift table.

Locked on fine no air leakage worked ok.

My only complaint was the plating on it was bit heavy at first but what do expect for cheap right :p and I couldn't barely even screw the hose end on the threads. I looke twice to make the threads were match but after 3 or four times it goes on easily and all full thread.

I did read that it uses non-standard pads. How hard is it fabricate extra backing pads? I imagine I'll want more down the road. I did find where to buy more, for about $10 each, so if it's particularly time intensive to make my own I might just buy more.

See post 26 here:
https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=257382

I've been using my 3" pad exclusively on my 2438 ever since I posted that and it's been flawless. I use it A LOT. Commercially.

Picked up this older style rechargeable work light at a pawn shop yesterday. I either find the battery pack and end cap for it or do a conversion mod. Seems nice and tough, USA made too!

Been lurking this thread for a while and I've never seen an answer for this question.

With all the Milwaukee addicts, I never see anyone on this board with a Milwaukee tool chest. Any particular reason why? I imagine cost vs value?

One Home Depot near me has one of the 1st generation 46" Milwaukee toolboxes in stock.

About a year ago, I saw the last of the 30" toolbox sets disappear from stores. Late last year and early this year, the 2nd generation 46" came and went, as well as the 52" workbench. I have never seen the 60" workbench at any Home Depot in two different states.

Going by that impression, they're not a very well stocked item by Home Depot and not very common (Around here). I know that if I wanted something other than the 1st generation 46", I'd have a hard time buying one from a store in stock.

I bought a 2361-20 M18 Rover LED Flood Light at Home Depot for $50 this morning. I haven't opened it yet and found plenty of reviews that praise it and plenty that seem to find it lacking.

Anybody here have any good or bad feedback on that light?

what was the difference between 1st and 2nd generation? I just eyeballed the 52" rolling workstation.

This video -
- does a pretty good job of showing off the 2nd generation and talks about the differences a bit.

I have only seen one of the Gen 2 46" combos in the wild and that was on Black Friday 2017. It was priced at $898, and if I wasn't 300 miles from home I probably would have bought it. The Gen 1 is a nice setup, but the Gen 2 just felt so much better. Not sure why they're more rare than unicorn farts because they really are sweet.

The Gen 1 combo has been on clearance at my local Home Depots for several weeks now. Anyone know if new boxes are being released?

There are photos/video of a Milwaukee toolbox from NPS18 with some kind of electronic lock. Maybe someone else can elaborate.

They aren't Milwaukee- but I really think the HF boxes are a better buy guys, unless you know you'll never need anything bigger. About the only thing you're giving up is that hutch style top, but the HF lockers are great for power tools if you can get an extra shelf or two.

The us General boxes being modular and expandable is a great feature to have.

I agree. I have a new 46" Series 2 box and love it.

I have a Husky box that I use for all my power tools, but might exchange that (sell on CL) for a side cabinet and end cabinet. I really like having the work space of the top. I may even buy a second box and build a stand for them both to sit on and have a work top that goes across both of them.

That's a pretty good price for the 2361-20 Rover light at HD. I'm very happy with mine, and at that price maybe should pick up a 2nd one.

For that price it's definitely worth it. Most of us paid $100 for that thing.. it's a good light, but in all honesty there are better models to be had now.. I could never really seem to get it pointed at the angle I really wanted - but again - at $50 it's well worth it.

My brother and father both have them and like them. The drawers are a little odd for a mechanic layout but for the industrial maintenance side they're good. Seem to hold up well to my brother beating the piss out of his.

I bought an M12 FUEL Hackzall last night to help limb down a tree that fell in my yard. I've paired it with a 12 inch carbide pruning blade from Diablo. I'm really liking it so far. Hopefully the one blade holds up for the entire tree. It also eats batteries. I've got two 4.0s and the free 6.0 that came with it, and man is it fun to use. I had to put it away before I carved up everything I own. Definitely worth it.

I have all of them

30" combo, 46" combo, 46" deep combo, 60" work bench, and 52" mobile center.

Unfortunately I do not have room to get the upcoming 52" deep.

I really like all the boxes, in the end I paid about $3000 for all of them.

Yes, you do.

Ohmmmm, ohmmmm, ohmmmmm.

There's plenty of room.

Ohhmmm, ohhmmm, ohhmmm.

You need the new 52" deep.

Ohmmm.

You will be very uncomfortable without it.

Ohmmmm.

You will feel empty inside. Unfulfilled in life. Lacking as a human being...

Ohmmmm.

I was at my local HD today and noticed they had dropped the price of the gen 1 46" $100. I went to the service desk and since it had been less than a month since I bought it they refunded and re rang the purchase with the sale price. Good customer service on their part.

Well, you guys convinced me to open it up and try it out.

It seems like a nice light so far. I do like Milwaukee's warmer color lighting. The light output vs size ratio seems to be lower than a lot of other lights, maybe that is for heat dissipation. It is nice that it uses the M18 battery - That should, in theory, keep it around for a long time for me.

I wanted something that I could put under a vehicle for underneath illumination where a light tower would not fit. I bought a 2130-20 tower not that long ago and sold it pretty quickly because I realized it would not be very good for that kind of automotive work. (At least in how I do things)

I have a HF Braun light, a few of the Costco CAT lights, the EZRed XLF1000, and now this, so I should be good on work lights for a while. I do, however, notice that all these companies must measure their lumens differently, or maybe I don't understand the lumen scale, or its just my eyes, but it seems like some of the lights with drastically different ratings seem to have very similar real world illumination. Part of me thinks that I may have been better off buying just a whole bunch of the HF Braun lights for the same money.

I am hoping that the Milwaukee light will have a very long run time on high with a 9.0 battery, which would justify it's bulk vs the EZRed light.

What did the M12 Hackzall run, if you don't mind. HD had the regular M12 for $129 today but not with a 6.0.

I got the XC kit, which is normally $169, and the 6.0 was free. Here's the page on HD's website. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwauk...-6-0Ah-Battery-2520-21XC-48-11-2460/301560919

I just grabbed the kit and the battery and it rang up automagically. I don't think the regular one qualifies for the free 6.0 deal, but a few other tools do. You can find the same deal on ACME and the usual places, and I believe it runs through July 31st. I'll add an M12 polisher next month I think, also an XC kit. That'll give me plenty of M12 batteries for the time being.

Did the ToolNut today ONLY order for 99 bucks... Thank you cajunfirehawk

I decided to get the non-fuel ratchet after touching both version recently. The head is nice and compact on the non-fuel version. Getting the little load out box is a bonus as is the extra charger... that technically ... I do not need.

I have found a replacement PCB for the M18 batteries of at least the XC4.0 and 5.0 types. I had two batteries that were left outside, and some water shorted out the control boards. I bought one of these to try, and it fit and functioned perfectly. It did not come with the large high current buss bars for the 18v output as shown in the picture, but I was able to remove and reuse the old ones. It takes some advanced soldering skills, but is a relatively cheap fix. The board took about three weeks to arrive.

searching "milwaukee free" shows quite a few milwaukee tool sets/kits with free additions . . . . . this isn't the only tool offering a free 6AH M12 battery.

I always Google search "milwaukee promos". Between home depot and acme tools I don't think I've ever bought a milwaukee tool other than my fuel ratchet without a free tool or battery.

the third image on that page is for the 9AH milwaukee battery. i would assume that this means that it would support one, although maybe it is just the image that they found. the text does refer to "series 5", which may be just the internal milwaukee revision number for the board (how many "generations" of m18 batteries has milwaukee had?).

i wonder if milwaukee knowns that an image of their product is on that page.

I'll have to take apart a 9.0 and see if the board is the same. Chinese companies don't seem too concerned about copyright and patent infringement.

Does anyone know what hand tools are slated for release?

In terms of ratchets/sockets, their 1/4" and 3/8" chrome sets will be out in June/July...one of the two.

Pretty good images on HomeDepot.com if you search "milwaukee sockets" and jump to the end of the results.
