Yea - completely different model.. the mid torque is still kinda newer itself.

So (deep breath) - after telling myself "stop buying power tools" I now have the m12 inflator, m12 polisher, m18 fuel polisher, and just for good luck - the brushed m12 hackzall, all sitting in the next room - and I have nowhere to put them.. I use to make fun of my father about his being a compulsive shopper.. something's wrong here..

Oh - and I almost forgot - some ******* stole my m12 Bluetooth speaker off the dashboard of my work van like 2 weeks ago (ignoring the $1200 Microsoft surface pro, gps units, and my personal check book). so that was replaced the next day and I bought 2 more cheap Powerextra m12 batteries.

My only satisfaction is knowing the stolen speaker will work for like 4 hours, and then the idiot will realize you need a Milwaukee charger.. Maybe it'll make him buy some Milwaukee stuff too.. :). Well worth the sacrifice.

Anyone have any experience with the M18 heat gun yet? I'm looking at getting it because I end up using a lot of heat shrink and my 15+ year old heavily used corded heat gun is on its last leg.

I have one. It’s slow to heat up in my opinion. I reach for the butane torch instead when I’m doing heatshrink.

Compared to a corded model - in TOTAL honesty - it's a dog.. using it on shrink tape for wire splices and a few other things, it'll be fine. But it terms of a heads up comparison of output and versatility vs corded - they are nowhere near each other.

The heat gun works great for small heat shrink and for removing stickers/decals. I haven’t tried it on anything larger.

Agreed. 2 different animals. With that said, if my M18 heat gun was stolen, I buy another one right away. I have all the big heavy corded stuff and it's great but the battery one is perfect for doing wire heat shrink out in the north 40 on the truck or trailer. I've also used it for decal removal and to get epoxy to set off.

Picked up a M12 Fuel Hackzall with the 4.0 and free 6.0 battery at Depot yesterday. I have some demo to do in 2 weeks and thought this would come in handy. Played around with it a little last night and it seems like it will do the job.

The Fuel Hackzalls were a big improvement over the older versions. I have the M18 Fuel and it's awesome, the M12 Fuel looks just as good in a smaller package.

I haven't tried it yet, it seems like it would be too bulky for small jobs, and I rarely have a larger job that a corded heat gun wouldn't suffice.

For heatshrink connectors and heatshrink tubing I grab my little butane torch.

Went to home depot yesterday and they're clearancing out the first gen stand light 2130 with a free 5.0 for $150. I would have jumped all over it had I not just bought a 2135 2nd gen rocket stand light.

How do you get the free battery through them? Some sites like CPO automatically add it to your cart but I don't see anything about the promo at HD.

Do you mean the big BT speaker that also takes M18 batteries? There's an onboard USB port to charge phones and tablets from the battery.

Ya I'm thinking about a 6.0 and then using the USB on the big speaker. The thing is the speaker is outside and my tab is in my vehicle for safe keeping

I used the other m12 speaker's usb just to charge the tab while it was playing and it ate up 2 compact batteries in no time at all. I have to wonder much more drain it would have put on the 4.0 doing both :dunno:

I figure a 6.0 will be more than sufficient for a 10+ hour day with that :D

I will experiment some with the 4.0 first, I don't even think about using M18 batteries in it. They are for my water pump and fan

Even though I recently bought a bluetooth speaker I'm now thinking about the M12 speakers. Dang you guys, haha. The battery life for stuff with Milwaukee batteries is great.

I have the M12/M18 BT speaker.

Cranking it up kills the battery quick. If I play it just under max on my phone, a M18 9.0AH battery might give 3 workdays (about 7 hours each- minusing the break and lunch). Two days leaves 2 bars on the battery, and I don't know if it will make it all the way through the 3rd day. A 5.0AH will go about 1.5 days.

Granted, that is pretty loud. I can hear it over the gas powered block saw... :)

If I stick to about 50% volume on my phone (speaker maxed out), then a 9.0 will last the whole week. If the surroundings are reasonably quiet, this is plenty loud.

That's just speaker use, no phone charging.

Was wondering what a 9.0 could do

Ya an M12 4.0 is pretty amazing on it own I think. I get like 14 hours straight almost full volume.

I'm usually one notch below max. pus the tab video player has its own volume control I leave it @ 100% and there is a 15 level volume boost I keep on 10 at the max the is too much distortion with speaker even dropping it a couple of clicks.

I have great time with this thing

Dropped a few for some new yard tools.

Not the most powerful on the market, but I like that the battery/charger is compatible with other Milwaukee tools that I can use.

Free blower with a purchase of the trimmer at HD.

Kicked my yard in the *** with the trimmer, then blew it all away with the blower.

Still going strong on it's 1st charge.

No more gas, no more cord.

Has anyone had any time with the cordless random orbital? What were your impressions? Should I stick a corded sander?

I've used it quite a few times now, I love it. I think it's worth the $99. Good dust collection, I think its runtime is pretty impressive as well

Did anyone ever find ONE video that showed all the new stuff, hand tools included? I seriously don't have it in me to hunt it all down. I think I'm taking a break from buying all this stuff anyway.

Been lurking this thread for a while and I've never seen an answer for this question.

With all the Milwaukee addicts, I never see anyone on this board with a Milwaukee tool chest. Any particular reason why? I imagine cost vs value?

You do. I have the 60" workbench and extended it to 78"
https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=353189

Also a 46" top chest as a workbench at my second vertical mill:

I used the inflator last night to top off 8 trailer tires. All tires were just 205/70/15s and all started at 40 to 44 psi. I took all eight to 50psi as stated on sidewall as max inflation pressure.

It did it, but wasn't thrilled about it. I started to top off my ninth tire (spare) and it tripped the thermal so I stopped for the night.

I ran thru an XC 3.0 pretty quickly and then switched to a 6.0. I think it's a bit comical Milwaukee is packaging these w a compact 2.0 in HD.

I was disappointed from the start that they released the inflator as M12 and not M18.

I always told Milwaukee they market to tradesmen w 3/4t+ trucks and the inflator should be able to take a neglected, say, 275/70/17 from 15psi to 80psi on a single battery. I think an M18 could do this but the M12 doesn't stand a chance. It's definitely a Johnny Homeowner with-a-Mazda3 kinda tool.

I did see in a random FB ad recently that DeWalt is releasing a "20V" inflator so maybe that'll light a fire under Milwaukee's *** to make a more heavy duty unit.

What do you mean by "wasn't thrilled about it."?

A problem with an M18 version is heat. Sure the M18 will push that much harder and with more capacity, but then you have extra heat to get rid of. Now you need a larger cooling system (fan, duct) and you've just built a $200 tool.

From what I've seen of the Milwaukee range they know their customer. I assume the put some thought into determining the M12 inflatior was the profit maximizing tool for the given market.
