It's only big if u compare it to the m12 by themselves. The brushed M18 is still alot bigger.. the m12 fuel is just a compromise really. It's not an 18v hiding in a small package. It's nice, but not life changing.. it woulda been a nice feature if they incorporated an adjustable shoe on the fuel saws.

What probably really does it, is I feel most people are gonna throw an xc pack on that 12v fuel, so that doesn't help the size. the brushed 12 is the newest one I got, and it's better than I expected (in my limited use) for small things - but that's what it's meant for.. it'll cut 4" pvc just fine, but u probably won't be winning any races with it.

I want to put in a plug for the M12 inflator.

I am somewhat of an inflator collector unfortunately - I have never found one that satisfied all of my needs. I do 20 or so track days per year, so I am CONSTANTLY using my inflators in the spring and summer. It is a royal pain in the *** in the paddock driving to where air is located, so a good portable one is indispensable for me since I am constantly adjusting tire pressures in between sessions.

All of the Ryobi ones are junk. They are underpowered and their nozzles do not fit on the metal valve stems of my car; the plastic part is too bulky and the nozzle is too recessed.

The best ones I have used so far have been the Kobalt 12v corded ones, but these are not cordless. It is a pain in the *** to deal with plugging in the wire to the car 12v outlet and dragging it around. And I have burned out the motor on two of these before.

The Milwaukee is on a totally different level than these other ones, in build quality alone. The hose is super high quality, the anti-vibration feet are amazing, and it comes with a real metal air chuck that securely screws onto my valve stems (and is very shallow, so it works with even metal valve stems with large shoulders).

With a 6.0 battery, I was able to go from 29psi to 38 on all four tires twice, and the battery was so full the charger rejected it as "fully charged" when I put it back on.

It's a total winner for my needs and I would have paid double for it.

Slowly swapping all my tools for Red Tools has become not so slow... I think I've ended up with about 10-15 new ones to replace my old craftsman cordless stuff in the last couple months. Just realized how big the pile of red boxes in the corner of the shop is now.....

Stopped at a home depot for PVC today and ended up getting the M18 Heat Gun and M12 soldering Iron......(2 new tools that I actually NEEDED to replace old worn out stuff with).

You will enjoy the soldering iron for sure, the heat gun is nice, but a bit slow to heat. If you are doing a lot of shrinking, pull out the cord.

The wife tried to buy me the M12 soldering iron and stapler at HD this past weekend for my birthday... I stopped her. I have about six irons of various sizes and two really nice staplers... one electric... one air...

Do I lose my Milwaukee Addiction Card?... I just couldn't justify it.

Besides... I am so worked up about that Expensive tool box thread... I'm buying TWO HF 26" bottoms to replace a craftsman work bench...

That stapler is nice tho…

Heat gun... so many people use "lighters" etc for shrink... I use yellow and red shrink … a lighter or small torch leaves burn marks... Heat gun is the way to go. I don't like to wait so... my corded will have to keep that job.

The heat gun is underwhelming to say the least.. the novelty wears off quickly. I can see it doing shrink tape well - especially with some of the available tips, but if you need a heat gun for real work purposes. Get a corded model... Buy something else cordless instead..

Milwaukee missed a big market on the staple gun too. There is no electric cordless option for T25 Staples - at least that I can find.

DeWalt has a manual model that will do them, and standard Staples too, so it seems plausible a cordless is doable.

You're the Milwaukee subject matter expert (SME). What do you think or the M18 fuel cut off grinder? I already have a Metabo that I have a Walter Flap Disk installed on. I wanted a cordless with a cut off wheel on. Thanks!

anndel, Milwaukee has both paddle and a lock on switch versions of the Fuel grinder. i have both, I use the paddle version with cut-off wheels and the lock-on version with regular grinder wheels and wire brushes

Really like the Milwaukee Fuel grinders, have always used Makita corded from 4" to 9" over the years. But if one of my Fuel grinders would go missing, I would get another Milwaukee probably the same day

Ha! I dunno if I’d go that far, but I’ve gotten about 45 min continuous work out of my fuel grinder with a 9.0 in it.. that was cutting and grinding the rear leaf spring hanger’s rivets off my old f350 dually.. I was impressed.. they are scheduled to release a larger grinder soon also - and a smaller cut off tool.

There’s really only a few of their tools that don’t meet or exceed most people’s expectations

So today I used my m12 fuel drill(sold my m18 to preorder the gen 3) with a 2" hole saw in 1/4" steel plate. I've done it with my m18 no problems, I wasnt sure if the m12 could handle it.

I went a little slower and used tons of oil. It definitely didn't like it and it chewed through my battery pretty quick, but she did it. I was very impressed. Certainly not my first choice when it comes to stuff that big, but it worked. Almost tore my hand off a couple times lol

I just bought a Milwaukee 1/2" socket to 7/16" hex adapter, mainly for ship augers & similar, but now contemplating how it will handle a hole-saw now. I know my large arbor is a 7/16" hex shank, and my 2863 HTIW has more than enough torque to handle it. :bounce::shocking:

Just ordered myself the 2553-20 1/4" hex impact from Amazon for $84. I have the older Fuel model, but really like how small the new one is. Picked dad one up for Father's day and had to have one myself. I'll take the old one and keep it for use in the house.

Whilst deburring holes in aluminum last night (this is 99% of what I use 12V drills for), I noticed the new 2504 drill has a definite "soft start" aspect which, honestly, is annoying. No, it's a not a self-tapping mode 4 like the impact driver.

I fully realize you're speaking of the impact driver, it just made me think of these Gen 2 tools in M12.

It's really disappointing actually, makes it far less useful for deburring hundreds or thousands of holes (common for me) as it "ramps up" each time you pull the trigger.

Nick on FB has the new 3/8" mid torque with 600ft/lb for sale, and as always it's only available as a kit with the high torque 1/2" and batteries for $600. I find it comical. He even captioned it with sorry guys this is the only kit I have right now and I can only sell it as a kit no bare tools. He really thinks people are that stupid lol. He knows hes the only person who has it for the next month probably so hes gonna try to take advantage of it by only selling it in bundles.. he did it with the fuel ratchets, the heat gun, etc. Its slimy.

I bought 2 M12 6.0 batteries from Amazon, just opened them and stuck them into the empty 12v holes on two M18v chargers. Lights on the charger are alternately flashing red and green, which if I understand correctly means both batteries are bad? Seems fishy that both batteries would be broken. Am I mis-interpreting the light codes?

Try some different combinations of unplugging/pugging the charger in reinserting the batteries etc.

Charger sensors are detecting something heat, moisture, cold, low charge etc.

I have had similar issues in past always seemed to work thru it have not ever had a bad OEM battery yet

Even adding an M18 into the sequence might help

This will happen on my charger that I run off a cheap inverter in my work van. Try leaving the batteries in, and unplugging the charger from the wall, wait a few seconds, plug it back in. I honestly have not had any Milwaukee battery go bad yet, either from home or work.

Also - put the batteries in a tool and see what the the tool says about them.. if they are half charged or both drained.

Well, after a number of tries I got it to stay solid red! Thanks!

Just got my m12 3/8 ratchet in with the packout case, the ratchet is amazing, my first red tool, I think I’ll be switching. But the packout case! That thing is awesome! If I got another do they hook together? Or only with the bigger rolling toolbox?

I think I’m going to get the 12v air compressor next

I have been considering the heat gun. The sole reason I would use one though is to heat pvc pipe if needed to peel out of a fitting. Your post leads me to reconsider and I appreciate you saving me money on that one.

I did finally get the 18 fuel hackzall and that thing is nice.

All of the packout stuff hooks together. You can get one of the totes and snap a small packout case (or two) to the bottom to carry around.

If anyone finds an m12 rotary tool please let me know.. its lost somewhere in this house and there’s too much red stuff hanging around that keeps it from standing out.. I packed a whole locker with Milwaukee stuff and I’m still realizing there’s more stuff I own and I don’t know where the hell it is. Its friggin bad when you find something, and say “when the hell did I buy this”

Does anyone else have the m18 polisher? I’m curious if it actually makes it through an entire car on one battery..

The m12 stick light is pretty good, and pretty cheap these days too.. like 40 or $50 - and I think a lot of us paid about 80 for that thing when it first came out.

The usb rover light is great light also.

The fan does a good job at night keeping the bugs off you too if you can keep it pointed on you. My only wish on the fan is that they would have a used an adjustable dial for the speed instead of just the set speed settings. Ive tried using it on a nightstand in the bedroom too, but when its close even the low setting can be a little too much. Another thing that would have been nice, is if it had on board storage for the included power cord and power supply, cause its hard to keep things like that from getting separated sometimes. Especially if you never really use the cord.

I've removed (and installed) numerous barbed nylon fittings from black poly water pipe with the cordless heat gun and it works just fine for that. Pus the lower heat wont melt or burn like a torch can,

Not quite sure what you are describing doing though

A guy in one of the Milwaukee groups on Facebooks modded his to fit the guts of the power supply inside the fan housing. I have seen other guys use a Velcro strip to attach the power brick to the back. But I don't ever see myself using the cord so I'm not going to worry about it. Same with my M12/M18 bluetooth speaker, I've had it over a year and never plugged it in once.

I got annoyed and left that group... his "deals" were only deals to people used to paying snap on prices

Every time I posted that it was cheaper on Amazon he'd delete my posts

He has some deals and some things not so much. It's like he said he can only give deals on things he orders pallets of. So when he orders a ton of one thing he can give a deal better then most places. But he can't give deals on everything because he doesn't order everything by the pallet. There are milwaukee tools and kits he sells that are cheaper then amazon and home depot. Then there are things that are more then amazon and home depot. Just depends. He throws up a lot of random stuff that is cheaper then other places.

The one thing I don't like is when he offers a "free" item as a bundle that cost as much as both items together. He will throw up a m18 kit with free bare tool or free battery but if you add up the kit and the other item price nothing is free.

Very true. Just gotta be smart enough to do your homework before making a purchase... I've bought a few things from him that were good deals, but prices on some other things have been laughable.

Where do guys like to shop for Milwaukee tools locally? I don’t have a homedepot in my town. Closet one is an hour away, the selection at TSC and FFH isn’t very good. Does ACE have a good selection?

The Milwaukee addiction thread! 😊

I'm not in any Milwaukee FB group, but I did that and posted it in this thread about a year and a half ago. I have a cord permanently attached to it now, just wrap it around the base when I'm not using it. Works great.
