I know this is a milwaukee thread.. While I've been meaning to transition to team red from team yellow.... it seems like the dewalt job fan seems to have better specs.

Am I missing something? I already have ton of flexvolt batteries.

That said.. I'm in love with the new M12 stuff I got from the HD sale.

M12 Gen 2 impact and hammer drill ( no chuck wobble )
M12 gen 2 hex screwdriver ( favorite tool so far )
M12 gen 1 3/8" ratchet
M18 Mid-Torque 1/2" impact ( things a beast )

Pretty sure the M12 gen2 impact and drill will replace my 2nd gen dewalt XR ones.

Oh screw auctions most of the time the item sells for more than it's worth. I only do buy it now. It's just like ordering from any other website

Honestly I haven't been on ebay in atleast 5 years but probably longer than that. Where do you look so you know you are buying quality stuff?

Buy it now is usually cheaper than a website, you CAN get it cheaper sometimes on a Ebay auction but on cheap stuff its probably not worth the hassle.

Would be nice if there was a standard filter that could slide into the back of the Milwaukee fan. Would be a nice option for something like that. 2 birds with one stone..

Yeah, that could come in handy. I used the fan for a few hours today while working on doing some demo in a room. It worked great.

I've had some M12 tools, but this is my first M18 stuff. The addiction is growing

Three of my favorite tools right there! Well I guess they're all my favorites, but those 3 have seen a lot of use. The fan was a big hit today when I went to help a friend move in a do some electrical work and we had all the power shut off and no breeze. Ran it on medium all day on a 9.0 battery.

Ew here but I got my first M18 drill about 6 months ago. Fell in love and glad I upgraded from the old blue Ryobi. Recently added the portable vacuum to my group and a set of drill and driver bits to match. The vacuum is powerful and works as a blower too. Great for small jobs and car care!

Welcome first  I know not the comparison you were looking for. I own the Ryobi fan, and tried out the Milwaukee. I wanted to like the Milw better, and I think if my fan saw jobsites, I would go the M18 route. I know it is a battery tool, but their AC power adapter is a poor choice for durability & ease of powering (vs extension cord plug). I also didn't like the whirl-ling sound it produced on high, or rather more my dog seemed to be irritated by it but not by the Ryobi. The biggest problem with the Ryobi is it isn't Milw. So I will be ordering a Mil->Ryobi battery adapter for this, and the other odd ball tools I have, such as the pole trimmer, chemical sprayer, and maybe the new shop vac.

I had been waiting for the Gen2 screwdriver. That wasn't included in last years NPS17, but couldn't reason why, at least no site covered it that I saw. I figured it would be announced this year, but looks like it was one of the un-announced tools in the last year. Thanks for mentioning that!

edit: you sure it is Gen2? If it is model 2402, that is the only Fuel hex screwdriver out according to Milwaukee's website

Thank you!

I guess I will see how the dewalt is and maybe pick up the milwaukee fan too since it's so cheap and works on AC

I thought it was a gen 2... but in more research seems to be 1st gen. It is indeed the 2402. Definitely my favorite driver. I sometimes do delicate work so the clutch is nice instead of using an impact driver.

Anyone else excited for the new M12 impacts? 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2? Think it might make my mid torque obsolete for 95% of the uses I'd have for it.

I am switching over from green and yellow tools to the red. I am really just learning about the Milwaukee tools. Is this a good deal for the M18? https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwauk...RCH=REC-_-rv_homepage_rr-_-NA-_-301113053-_-N
What about this one for the M12?
https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwauk...teries-Charger-and-Tool-Bag-2498-25/304708058

The prices aren't bad, but the general consensus is to hold out for Fuel tools in the ones you use most or plan to work hard. The Fuel versions are brushless and more powerful.

Where you been...in a cave :lol_hitti

It is a dam awesome tool same body as the original M12 Fuel drill. A slightly more sensitive clutch Power galore, drive 3 1/2 screws like nothing.

Take any 1/4 shank hex bit, socket etc

Sweet: thumbup:

Both brushed versions they offer also have their place/price point too.

All this time I’ve been staring at the non fuel version at the HD I work at trying to decide if I get it I’m sure that a Fuel version would come out right after. [emoji30]

My Fuel screwdriver is my number ONE used M12 tool. I have three impact drivers... wish I had two screwdrivers instead.

I use my polisher far more than expected as well. Lots of quick sanding... gonna figure out how to get a small wire brush on it soon.

The brushed m12 tools are not disappointments. The newer gen2 fuel stuff is pretty amazing - yes.. but most SMALL jobs don’t really need something like that. (Sure is nice having the option now though). The regular m12 screwdriver is pretty nice so long as you use it within its limitations.. 12v is not 18v replacements id always say - but it seems like Milwaukee is beginning to even change THAT now too.

I wouldnt wanna drive 3” screws with the m12 brushed screwdriver (no pilot hole obviously) since better stuff is available to do that, but its a great tool and I like it better than my old dewalt 7.2 nicad screwdriver that basically dry walled most of my house.

The real beauty with milwaukee’s 12v line is the collection available to you, and not just any single tool.. milwaukee’s 12v line gets as much attention from the Milwaukee as their m18 line does.. nobody is left out on the red team.. lol

Which polisher is this?

Is it a simple 2-3” J hook backing plate or some proprietary system.

I’m debating trying out the M12 polisher or going with the Rupes iBrid nano and just getting my detailing setup over with.

i believe there is only one m12 polisher:

i have exclusively used mine with 2" roloc pads. i use mine a lot more than i thought i would also. . . . . . . my only complaint is that the attachments are a funny thread size, which is impossible to find in other brands. it wouldn't be a complaint if milwaukee would make more attachments . . . .

yep... the only M12 polisher linked above. Many of us get beyond the backer pads included with the polisher and use other sizes. My current goal is to fab a wire wheel mandrel. We all have the tools to do this stuff... so do it.

I bet that almost all the new releases coming will not come with or maybe even not be available in a hard case. Light bulb just went off on the Chinese ban last year on imported recycled trash. In China plastic is in short supply for manufacturing, prices rising, many companies are setting up off shore ops or just cutting needs.

Milwaukee should setup a customer recycle benefit program. I have about 20 scrap M18/12 cases in the garage.

The cases have a number on 'em and can go in a lot of city recycling programs. Mine, unfortunately, go in the trash. I pop the metal clasps off and throw them in scrap tin. The last hardcase I got (maybe the M12 band saw?) had plastic clasps

I've never been a fan of hard cases for most power tools. They almost never have enough or the right storage options for what I want to keep with the tool. I've ended up buy a bunch of the Milwaukee contractor bags for my M12 stuff. There's room for the tool, and whatever bits/blades I want to keep with it. It works well for my impact, drill, screwdriver, hackzall, and jigsaw. It's nice having all the common things I would want to use with the tool in the same case.

The cases are designed so poor they are worthless, I have the drill/driver set in the plastic case, not even any room for bits, who would design such a piss poor tool case. My old Makita case had a separate lid on the cover that held bits and whatever else you wanted to bring with.

while i agree that newer things will not have the old style hard cases anymore, i suspect that we shall start seeing them in packout cases.

i think that milwaukee is still trying to figure it out. do you put it all in one case (the tool, two batteries, and the charger), or do you configure them to allow a case for batteries/chargers, and more than one tool per case? careful engineering of the inserts, along with changing from one molded insert to one for the tool, in a standard format, and another for batteries. making chargers fit the format seem like a reasonable thing, but they likely need to be configured so that to unfurl the cord you need to take it out of the case, and you can't put it back when the cord is out. the chargers generate too much heat to want to stay in the case, or even clipped into the stack if they go in that direction (making the charger itself a packout unit in the smallest size they offer.)

or the inability to store an impact in the case with a boot on?

i dont have a lot of cases, since i dont buy a lot of kits. i find it cheaper to buy bare tools, with batteries separately. usually the kits have the low end batteries anyway. what do i want with more 1.5AH batteries?

I think the cases are additions from the marketing department. Almost all tools require TOOLING and accessories. The actual user needs blades, bits, etc to get a job done and the marketing designed blow plastic cases do a poor job with extra storage. But then there is an issue. Is the user a homeowner or a craftsman? Does he work on a jobsite or in a factory? What other tools are needed? Are these tools thrown into the bed of a truck or are they shipped? The issues are endless. That is why Milwaukee has a whole line of bags, totes and storage systems.

I have the M12 3/8 Ratchet, and the M12 3/8 Fuel Impact Wrench, both have saved me tremendous time on otherwise tedious automotive jobs. Of course the ratchet does not fit everywhere, but wherever I can get it to fit it saves time!

I could care less about cases, but do 95% of my work at home. If I need to bring tools somewhere, I use on of those soft Milwaukee bags — I have several sizes. I keep my bits and blades in little cases. Mostly my 25 m12 and m18 tools are in work bench drawers or on shelves where I can easily get to them.

For those who like bags look to the Husky bags w a light gray interior - amazing what a difference it makes. Bags w black interiors are literal black holes

wow. either i got a fake or milwaukee's m12 power source gen 1 could seriously use some work. Voltage droops to 4.6V when pulling 2.1A from it. Barely holds 5V stable at 1A.

Looks like it's going back to amazon and gonna try the gen 2 with the usb charging.

That's a really good deal. I bought the Gen 2 hammer drill kit with free 4.0 battery right after it was released and paid $179. I would gladly have paid $20 more to get the impact driver!
