I'm building up my collection and thinking about buying a few duplicates to keep in my motorhome toolboxes for race days. Just curious how long you guys think a fully charged 9.0 will last. Say I put it in the tool box and don't get around to using it for say, 6 months? Still have a full charge?

I don't know precisely, but lithium batteries are very good about not self discharging over a long period of time. I would think it would still have over 3 bars at six months.

Post specific details you need buddy had one he can take measurements.

On related note just got my 2712 DE

Thanks! I just took measurements of the TE-15.

Total width is 4" so the vac would have to have a 2" stand off at the least.

The handle collar is roughly 2 1/4" in diameter.

Has anyone ever seen the Surge driver on sale? I think that will be my next impact but since it is sort of an oddball I can’t see it going on sale as often as the other stuff. Have you ever seen it on a decent sale?

More likely to catch the kit on sale. That's how I ended up with mine. Otherwise, I see the bare tool for $110 on ebay, and that's before a nice 15% or 20% off coupon (more likely 15, as the other is usually limited to specific sellers). I'd probably go the eBay route if you are set on batteries & don't need the hard case.

Yes, $200 for the kit. But I think there's a CT kit and a 5.0 kit, both -22's.

IIRC I paid $239 for the 5.0 -22 kit, but I may be mistaken and it was just 2.0's

I've been building a lot of shipping crates and really like my Surge, it's not only faster but easier on the ears

There was a few sales that had the 2x5ah kits for $240 or less, so wouldnt be surprised that's what you got. That is when I picked up, and also stacked with a free Hammer Drill promo at the time. I got rid of my One-Key Impact after using the Surge.

Thanks to you and everyone else who replied. Looks like they dropped the kit price at HD with the compact battery, I could use another compact more so than additional large batteries.

So it comes with S/M/L collars, L saying it's good for 2.2-2.3". The vac nozzle will line up with the collar. The drill he uses it with is 3" wide. Hard to say if the 4" is a problem. Maybe suggest buying from HD, if it doesn't fit then return.

Gen 3 kit came in. Standard charger. I thought in todays day and age, it's rapid charger by default

No ****, right?

I feel like they're just beating us over the head with the old stuff....why does anything still come with a standard charger, or batteries with now-inferior amp hours?

I mean even in the heated gear Milwaukee was still barely including 2.0's long after 3.0 compacts were available. I don't know why they still include 1.5's in any M12 kit, regardless of the tool.

And things like the M18 water pump still come with "XC" batteries that are 3.0 - that's like 2007 technology. For awhile I just figured they were trying to get rid of old stock but if you look at these lower-amp hour batteries they'll often have very recent date codes, ie they're still crankin' 'em out.

Seems every "big" sale HD has a 2-pack of M18 XC batteries that are 3.0's. Why? Those are virtually obsolete and enough tools are now produced that really do perform better on higher amp hours that Milwaukee only risks hurting their own reputation when Johnny Homeowner puts a 3.0 on the blower and gets pissed 'cause he gets 4 minutes of run-time.

I can't believe it costs that much more - if at all - for Milwaukee to produce a 3.0 vs a 5.0. It's as if they just feel they need to give a good/better/best feel to the market to try to get the consumer to cough up more money for something that doesn't cost them much more to make

The 5.0s charge pretty quickly on the standard charger. Additionally, slower charging makes the batteries last longer while also providing a slight boost to run times since they can "topped off" more effectively.

With 4 standard chargers and plenty of batteries, I've never felt the need for rapid chargers.

Whats the best way to get started on the battery platform? I really need a 3/8 impact, and an electric ratchet.

$25 off ebay order of $119+ for another hour.
Primo119 is code
For just batteries, Ebay 1st. They can be had for $50-60 each for 5ah. Kits can be a good value.

Sounds like you want to be on the M12 platform. If you can wait a month or two the new 3/8" M12 impacts should be on the market and will have 250ft/lbs of torque. The current ones are around 100ft/lbs. Of course if you need more power than that then you'll need to go M18 for the impact.

I had an elevator shaft flood last night with 3’ of water. Used the Milwaukee 18V transfer pump. Ran through one 9AH battery and most of another pumping for a couple of hours.

They have 7 chargers if you include the DC ones, 8 if USB. Only 2 are rapid. I swear they are coming out with a M12 rapid multi bay. At this point the M18/12 rapid should be the only one with M18 kits, for M12 kits not in a case give the regular M18/12 charger.

Both 1.5a batteries should be discontinued. Bosch just released a compact 18v 4A and yet we don't even have a 18 compact 3.0 yet.

Ideally the battery lineup right now should be..
M12 compact 2.0, 3.0, xc 4.0 6.0
M18 compact 2.0, 4.0, xc 5.0, ho 6.0, hd 9.0, 12.0

I refuse to own M12 1.5, xc 3.0, M18 1.5, xc 3.0. I only have some M18 xc 4.0 because they were basically free, else it's all 2.0, 5.0, 9.0

I bet they continue to use the 1500mAh 18650 cells (1.5CP and 3.0XC) since they're dirt cheap and it draws a distinct line between the lower products and higher end brushless ones. But ultimately I agree Dacan. I REALLY wanna see a compact 4.0 that uses the 21700 cells. I'd use that for nearly everything...all drills/impacts/smaller tools. Save the 9.0s and 12.0s for lights and sustained high demand tools. I'd have no need for these 5.0s.

The HO 6.0 is interesting since it's almost the exact same size as the 9.0. If the 9.0 can keep up with it output wise, then the 6.0 doesn't make much sense. It might not though. I guess we'll see if they end up ghosting the "round two 6.0" like the last one :D

Lol, the 6.0 gen1 supposedly had issues, less run time than the 5.0, that's why it almost never existed. Perhaps same thing with M12 3.0 hence it's low penetration.

Compact 4.0s I agree would be the best battery for both M18 & M12.

Ha I feel like I heard the same thing with the older 6.0s. Interesting...

I wonder if they're even able to use the new 21700 cells in the M12 packs due to the space constraints in the handle. I hope they figure something out.

The 48-11-1862 I've been eyeing for weeks now, but no one seems to have them yet.

A 2-pack of HO 6.0's for $199 seems real decent to me for retail, only $100 per battery

3/8" Mid Torque showed up today from Depot. Its significantly heavier than the regular 3/8". Didn't get a chance to use it yet, but it feels like its got some balls to it.

Yeah m18 for sure. M12 isn't gonna cut it for a lot of what I do or I'd just get 14.4v snappy. 20$/week and I don't have to get it in red.

But Milwaukee has better warranty, and better tools. So...

Just wondering what the best price method for getting in is? 240 3/8 kits on ebay? Or wait for a homedepot sale? Sales tax here is 10% so that is something to factor.

i agree. I have a 1.5 & 3xc from when I got the good ol' 2663. Otherwise it's 9.0 x 2 & 5.0 x 12 or 13.

I concur, that's not bad. The 9ah is less than $120 on ebay, commonly $100, for legit sealed batteries.

I reccomend looking up AcmeTools. 15-20% off sales multiple times per year.
Ebay? Yep, keep an eye out for 10-15% off codes. (2) 5ah batteries usually cost $45-55 each so if you're getting a kit with em for under $250 it's not too bad depending on the tool(s).
