Working on slowly moving from Ryobi to Milwaukee and just got my first one, the M18 Fuel Surge impact driver. Love how compact it is and that the included charger works with both 12v and 18v batteries.

I would next like to replace my 12v Ryobi driver that I use for light duty around the house. Looking at the M12 Fuel hammer drill driver (2504-20). Is the hammer feature on a 12v tool even worth it for light duty?

That all depends on what you want / need to use it for.. i use an m12 fuel hammer drill to do 1/4’ holes in brick, i wont say “a lot” - but I’ve done about 40 in a day when i need to use it.. they are fine for stuff like that. Great tool if you have to work on a ladder, great tool if you want to use a tool belt with a holster because its small. I have one tool belt with a holster on each side, m12 fuel hammer drill on one side, and the m12 fuel impact driver on the other.. it works well for me esp on a ladder cause it keeps your hands free, and the drill is more than enough for small holes in masonry.

For “just in the house” it probably wont be needed - but my personal feeling is its always better to have to option and not use it, then need it one time and not have it. Only you will be the best judge.

What are people using to keep tools relatively non-greasy? It seems that the softer rubber that Milwaukee use absorbs more grease and oil than the harder stuff that Hitachi used on my older tools.

Any suggestions on cleaning the grips etc?

Clean rag with a light spray of wd40. Dont rub it on the white lettering.. a damp rag with warm water and a spot of dawn works too. WD40 cleans up the tools pretty nicely though.

There’s a guy on here that sells 18v Ryobi tool / m18 battery adapters.. i have one.. it works fine. He prints them on a 3D printer.

His username is plc268

I know the Surebonder adapter has a wierd hump to it, and with the orientation of the battery, makes it so it doesn't work on some Ryobi items. The better 18v blower won't work with, as well as a few other tools by the looks of it. The one by PLC268 is orientated in the opposite direction. I think I'm going to end up with one of each, just in case.

What is you Favorite Light. I have many, but the handheld flood is by far my most used light !

M18 Rocket Light, of course. Since I got it recently, it has been on the scene of every one of my household projects. It throws a lot of light and is a set and forget tool. No blinding flashes from floor light and no cords to trip on.

While I could certainly sell some more printed battery adapters (I still have the parts laying around), I'll be honest, the surebonder branded adapter is very nice and a better product. My price would be about the same ($30 per adapter).

I bought one of the surebonder adapters for my own use, and it's very nice and sturdy. It's definitely pretty heavy though.
Thanks I will probably pick that one up then. I will keep you in mind when I find a tool that the reversed orientation doesn't suit.

Not that I know of I sell Tekton tools including there ****** rip claw hammers but not seen anything similar to the Milwaukee offering from them. And I honestly don't know why everyone thinks Tekton is so great I see a lot of **** it is just all import and a lot is the same as other branded tools though their warranty is the redeeming feature

So just as FYI here the Milwaukee fiberglass hammer totally *****

I contacted them and gave my feedback I hate the non symmetrical claw end just looks cheap (like its defective almost lol!) Its supposed to be for a non ringing head though my Estwings and Craftsman steel never rang, Still it rang, also had to file the striking face to stop it from glancing off the nail virtually everytime you hit it.

Lastly the handle as long an axe  and slightly too thick at the far end to feel really comfortable in my hand

So pretty much I just like to hit and smash thing with it!

Ha will need to get the cordless Fuel grinder out to trim those long carriage bolts sticking down thru the wagon deck.

I love the saw though I twice experienced that the blade stopped moving and had no power (spun loose? Blade slip? :headscrat ) plowing thru wet PT lumber stacked with plywood. Maybe it was the safety overrides but also the blade lock button fell apart I had to reinstall it. I thought about sending the saw in for warranty but has been working ok everyday after that if I don't push THAT hard wings off 2x stock like nothing.

Will see what happens today, I have to rip off 14 continuous ft of PT stacked with Ply once again.

Maybe I will change out that thin kerf Diablo blade that came with it :spit:

Well I am having serious fits with that saw tried again to do a combined crosscut/rip the stacked pt and plywood together (32 2x6's topped with 4 pcs of 3/8"AC grade plywood) and the same thing happened the saw just stalled and stopped, blade wouldn't spin, wouldn't restart momentarily.

Again after I let let it set could cross cut the 2x 6's alone no issue off the sawhorse, same with ripping the plywood alone just like nothing and really smooth. But combine the two for a final trim on my wagon top and it just shuts down, I was so frustrated it was the only saw I had with me and how I wish I had my corded Makita 5007 today.

BTW changing blades made no difference

All I can figure is going from one wet PT board straight into another the blade isn't reaching full rpm after bogging down and just gets slower maybe heats up the battery?

Still might send it in see what they say

Need to get to work on customer project, so not painting. I got ahead of myself and didn’t measure handles on a few of my M18 tools, so I’ll have to make another smaller version for them.

Got the mid torque in this morning. Wanted it to use where the big 2767 wouldnt fit or was overkill for the job. Loving it so far

Wow I'm a roll this week Killed off my 2763 High Torque today :wtf:

Was trying to undo a dozen old rusted 1/2" bolts from a rusted out frame that held a another wagon gear together and had started with the compact 1/2" and then mid torque They both were in my tool arsenal for the day job and turned out wasn't having any luck with either so grabbed the high torque laying on the floor of my Durango, quickly knocked apart a couple off fasteners. Went for the 3rd one and then nothing? Just a click and quick light flash when I pulled in the trigger. Hold the trigger down and the light flashes like 3 times.

Oh well that HAS to be sent in for sure, I'll do that first before I decide on the saw

Only time I've seen that is when I overheated a tool (drill driver)

Let it cool down and try a fresh battery before you do anything else.

I had one that behaved in a similar fashion out of the box, took it back to HD the same day and they swapped it. The replacement has been flawless.

I just killed an M18 multi tool. It was a CPO Tool’s reconditioned. Won’t be buying any more of those since the warranty is 1 year versus 5 for a new tool. Have bought others with no issue but it’s not worth the risk to me after this.

With all the street dealers of new Milwaukee tools that still carry a 5 year warranty from the serial number, one would think they would do similar even if reconditioned. I do get that everyone would want a more recent build date, but that's the luck of the draw for recons. I suppose some older tools would still need to come with a 1 year minimum.

The recons are hand etched and I presume the numbers recorded. But it’s ok - I paid less and took the risk and lost and had to pay another $100 for a new one. After 5 years I would not complain but I probably used this one for a total of about 10 hours over 2 years.

Similar exp with recon from CPO a long time ago, was the M12 Multi Tool, returned it and never bought recon again.

so, when they do this "red washing", do they leave the battery interface alone? can you use batteries from the previous vendor on the new tools, or do they change it slightly to "preserve the franchise"?

Re: The Milwaukee addiction thread! 😊

No way its genuine, gotta be a cheap knockoff boot, looks kinda cheesy.

Does he claim its a real Milwaukee product?

No, he had asked about these types of boots about a month or two ago to see if there was any interest. I guess he had partnered with some company to make these custom ones.

They always change the battery slightly.

Have i mentioned how much this annoys me...The rigid fan looks like the best, ryobi has the airstrike, milwaukee owns the Impact wrenches. Its all one company i dont know why we cant mix and match. I know there are adapters but that is just a pain.

Or if Milwaukee had all the specialty things that would be fine to.
