Anyone have a good way to hide or turn off the light on the M12 heated gear? It attracts too much attention. I have a piece of electrical tape covering it.

I was thinking about sewing a blank patch over the light on my jacket and hoodie, and leaving the top open so I can see what level I'm on. I wear my Axis vest far more than the hoodie or jacket, which is nice because whatever I'm wearing over it covers the light.

I wish there was a way to deactivate the light and just use the button. I never use medium or low anyway, it's either on High or Off.

You’re right about the attention that the M12 jacket attracts. They’re still so new so most folks have never seen them. I work in IT and if the light is glowing when I walk into my office, I feel like I just became a Milwaukee rep. Have had a ton of folks asking me where I got it, how much, and if the heat is equivalent to heated car seats. They even freak out when they find out you can also charge your phone with the battery. Have had a lot of people even try on my jacket.

is there any technology around for locking down these large rolling tool boxes (like the Packout) inside a service van?

other then, of course, just using a ratchet strap attached to the side braces . . . .

At my local Home Depot, the Milwaukee rep was there today making people some very good deals. He was offering discounts. Unfortunately I’ve gone a little nuts already and don’t need more.
I've talked to the one at our HD a couple times, not only did he not seem to have the authority to offer any deals, he also didn't seem very familiar with the products.

However I ran into a rep at a plumbing wholesaler and he was much more knowledgeable, so I guess it really depends on who you end up dealing with.

Obvious choices as you mentioned are to use the side bars on the larger boxes or to ratchet the whole thing. But of course, that can be time consuming. Maybe you could build a three sided "garage" box that the packout could roll into. Secure the box to the van and then use quick release straps or a net on the front for easy access.

I picked up the M12 stubby finally. This thing is very small. Is there a reason to even get the M12 ratchet? If I were to get one, I was thinking non-fuel since w/ the stubby laready I may not need the extra torque and the non-fuel is noticeably smaller than the fuel version

I have the 3/8 and 1/4 fuel ratchets. LOVE both of them. The non-fuel are marginally smaller, but I'd rather have the power. If I need to get in a space too small for and electric ratchet I'm just gonna go at it manually anyway.

Definitely, I have non-fuel version of the 1/4 and 3/8 ratchets. They are probably the most used power tool...

In 1/4" the size difference between Fuel and NF ratchets is not that great, but in 3/8" the difference is pretty obvious.

My pics should be a sticky on the main tools page lololol

They probably should. I wonder how long they'll keep the old gen non-Fuel models around...

Pics are great but in person is better. I went to Home Depot today and looked at them both side by side on display. I would say that the 3/8" Fuel is more than "marginally" larger than it's non-Fuel brother (although "marginally" is hard to quantify...) but side by side and hand in hand, I opted for the smaller form factor of the non-Fuel 3/8". HD has them on sale with 1 battery and charger for $119. Bare tool is $99.

IMO the 3/8 Fuel is no doubt quite a bit larger than the brushed version, whether that really matters in practice does depend on the application.

But I do find the 1/4" fuel is very competitive in size and a gain 10ft lbs. Though personally I just don't find myself using 1/4" drive sockets very much, the range of sizes and the depth of many standard socket sets is fairly limited and well if your going to use an adapter often for 3/8" what's the point really :dunno:

Okay boys (and girls)

I am going to share these two part#'s and online links

I been wanting a rip fence for the 2731 cordless circular saw and the Milwaukee part number is

49-22-2731

The fence for the left side 6 1/2 cordless circular saw is

49-22-1005

Both can be had thru either Tool Parts Pro or E replacementParts

Note the 2730 is in stock at both places but the 2731 guide is on a BO or a 2 week lead time at the moment

Supposedly ToolParts Direct has 3 in stock for the 2731 according to their web site.

All these places will have an additional charge to ship

Interesting to note how the left side fence for the smaller saw cost more :dunno:

Much less demand I would imagine, but for about the same chunk of metal it is silly. I'm wondering if they could have made one that is universal.

Thanks for the part information. One of those things you probably won't use a ton, but wish you had on certain occasions. Hopefully the 2731 part will fit my new 2732.

Just typical saw fence for circular saw. But obviously it has to match the guide channel width and thickness. I tried a few fences I had from other saws, everyone is different in some way.

Here are the stock photos though
49-22-2731 on left 49-22-1005 (for 2730-20) on right

I'm a little ripped though, just went thru the carts on all 3 web places the guide for 2731 is less than $5.00 on average and the least amount of shipping was $8.00 and the highest was almost $15.00 for UPS (Gawd I hate UPS ever since the strike most small business can't get a good rate. At the farm where I work we used to ship gift packs UPS now we can't price is just too much for the customer to bear. We recommend they go USPS priorty mail.

Guess I will call each of these places Monday morning to see if there are any other options

I bought that Kregg jig rip fence for the circular saw a while ago. It's on the shelf in HD and for whatever reason at the time I just felt like buying it. Still in the package at home.. lol.. I'm hoping (if things work out they way I'd like them to) that I'm actually gonna have some time to start using these things at home more often. We shall see.. fingers crossed.

I’ve used mine a few times and been happy with it. It takes a few minutes to get it dialed in. But once you do it’s nice to just set the measurement on the fence and go.

Is it supposed to work with the Milwaukee cordless saw?

Or a universal application?

I would think the baseplate is the same.

Yea they are just nice to have and should a standard accessory with a saw purchase.

Most of these guides are pretty flimsy though the one for my corded Makita being the best built I've used, In a pinch to trim a piece especially if you are in hurry it can keep you honest to a line within reason, sometimes beats clamping up a straight edge

What got me going on this was someone over at Milwaukee Tool Nation complained to Milwaukee that it should have been part of the package with a 2730 saw and they sent out a free one!

Well, I joined the Milwaukee club last night with an online Home Depot purchase:

https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwauk...n_STH_BOSS_3250627-_-product_desc__WA47473454

I had a pretty nice set of Bosch 18V NiCad power tools, but the batteries were starting to fail. Then I dropped my drill yesterday and cracked another battery while working on a project. I always liked the Bosch, but I feel like Milwaukee has a lot more to offer, and is a bit more organized with their product lines. I was looking at a smaller set for $299, but I really wanted a couple of the specific tools in the larger set. It seemed like the larger kit was by far a better value with the sale price this time of year. I looked at the Fuel line, but it was going to cost way too much to get everything I wanted. I’m sure the upgrade to lithium ion will already be a huge improvement from what I had. I can’t wait for everything to arrive.

Cool idea, but that is huge. Hopefully there is storage inside for batteries or tools.

Make it smaller

Still it's pretty cool idea
I dunno what do you think maybe a power strip inside to simply plug in cords...or a junction box and hard wire everything with good heavy feed cord? :headscrat:

I do like the pass thru outlet on the end.

How do we tell if the Tower Light we have is eligible for swap-in so that it can work with the bigger 12.0Ah batteries?

If you have model 2130 or 2135 they have free upgrades available. Call 1-800-SAWDUST and ask for a service tech, they'll know what you need. They'll send you the parts to change out yourself, or you can send in the light for them to service. Free either way.

I believe you can get the upgrade through eService as well, but I don't think there's an option to have them send you the parts.

I have the 2130 and upgraded it myself. When I called, the lady who answered had no clue what I was talking about. She transferred me to a service tech and within 5 minutes he had my order sent out and I was off the phone.

I think a better idea might be to replace the pass through with a fan that would **** air into the box and exhaust it out through the chargers . . . . . keeping them running cooler can't hurt . . . .

Interesting thought.

I cant really see why it would really run any hotter than just sitting on a table though :headscrat

The standoff feet do allow for an airgap chargers are meant to hang with the provided keyhole slots

They also have duplex outlets with usb charge ports on the market one could use too. HF even sells them :lol_hitti

Multi chargers pull 2.1 amps I think and the Rapids 2.75a

4 regular chargers would still allow a possible 6.5 amps draw on a basic 15amp service line.

Still it sound's like a neat little project for a homemade power center

What did you have to do for the light?

I have that light and a waterpump I could consider upgrading. Now that the light with more lumens and corded option is on the market I much rather have that one. I think I will just buy another water pump down the road and it will come already upgraded for 12.0
