Home Depot dropped the price of the packout boxes with the tools. Instead of $299 for the gen 3 hammer drill/impact driver, 5ah & 2ah battery and charger with the small packout box it’s now $249. $349 for the large packout box hammer drill/impact, hackzall, 6ah & 5ah, and charger for $349.....if you can still find them in store. Use the $5 off $50 in store coupon to drop it further....not a bad deal.

I do a lot of work away from a power source. I have a couple of quality right angle die grinders, but without (lots of)air, they can't help me when I am way from my shop.
The M12 cut off has decent power, does a good job when using very thin cut off wheels, allows you to reverse cutting direction - so you can control the swarf spray and the kick back direction. Guys talk about using a Dremel with a cut off wheel - this is way better. If I need more power, I grab a 5" grinder with a diamond blade. This has been a good option tool for lighter tasks.

What do you normally cut with it? My use case would be mild and stainless sheet (and Alu, but that cuts by sneezing at it) up to 3mm.

The $299 deal is great...for the 2997-23PO Packout Kit

I was just going to get one of the hackzall's (2719-21) as a gift with charger and battery and it was $269.

For $30 more, I get to keep the packout and 6ah battery and sell off the drill and impact!

Thanks!!!!!

If I had a 10% coupon I would buy the max 5 of all the kits..... if theres one in my mailbox when I get home today I bet they are all sold out by then lol

Also in the SBD is the Womens Axis Vest Kit for $109 which is pretty good. Unfortunately buying from HD doesnt get you the free handwarmer kit via rebate.

Does the packout come with a foam insert?

The -23PO kit does not have foam in it, the -22CXPO kit might have a foam insert in it that looks the whats in the blow mold cases but its not that customizable foam they offer now.

Does the packout come with a foam insert?

Heard about the M12 inflator burning up on hear say, but just yesterday a buddy said a friend in common had his burn up. It might have to do with pushing the upper limits of the PSI it can fill.

No one here has experienced issues?

I think in the demo it says there is a maximum run time you're supposed to follow, along with a cool down period before using it again. I have no idea if any of that could have contributed to any failures, but it's worth posting. I don't use mine too much but it's still going.

Your right... Guess its RTFM lol

Allow tool to cool for 10 minutes after each 10 minutes of continuous use.

Now I really want them to make a M18 Fuel one....lol

I think people are probably running them to hard. I've seen people here complaining about it taking to long to inflate all 4 tires from 15 to 35psi. I don't think it was ever intended to do that much work. I always thought it was more for topping off car tires, filling bike tires, basketballs, etc. Filling up one tire on the side of the road if you had a slow leak. It's not a replacement for a real compressor.

I think I’ve said this before. I used the factory dodge 12v cigarette lighter compressor ONCE and it blew out the fuses on car. I used a husky on a trailer tire a few years ago - it melted the plug and sized the compressor.. the little ones are for little things. Can it do a big tire in a pinch - yea I’m sure - but you gotta work within its limitations. I wouldn’t go doing 4 tires non stop with that and expect it to last.. I wonder who actually MAKES the compressor inside - if its actually Milwaukee or they just took someone else’s.

Side note - i just got home and put the tv on. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (of all things right?) is what was on. I’m sitting here watching it realizing how truly lost this world has become.

Nope

Should handle anyone's BASIC needs just fine like topping off passenger vehicle and light truck tires, small tractors and yard equipment plus all the kids toys.

That's said I've pumped mine up to just about the max filling an air pressure tank just to prove a point.

Seriously not something I want to do frequently as it took virtually the max run time AND the unit did get quite warm. I wasn't that comfortable with it.

I'm absolutely sure anyone could kill it if they try hard enough by overtaxing it to the max and beyond. Why its just about par for the course :lol_hitti buy a small 12v powered tool then try to do what a corded 15 amp tool could do have it NOT meet your exuberant expectations and the say it *****

Oh and side note since this comes up numerous times in many places... if the digital gauge continues to show a pressure reading even after being disconnected its right in the OPERATORS manual how to zero it out.

Honestly does anyone EVER even read those :spit:

I tripped the thermal on one of my inflators but it was fine once it cooled down.

I sure hope they release an M18. The M12 is only practical if you drive a Prius

I ran into an interesting situation this weekend. I keep my inflator in the shop but the batteries inside the house to avoid exposing them to the cold. I went to use the inflator and it would turn on but not run. The temperature icon was blinking. I brought the inflator into the house and once it warmed up it was fine. I guess there is a minimum operating temperature as well as a max. It wasn’t all that cold in the shop either, about 45°F.

LOL... only reason I found them is because my plumber buddy saw a pic and said he needss them ASAP

Supposedly the rod cutter is $329 bare tool and maybe out sooner than threader. The threader isnt out till summer and my guess is $2500 bare tool.

Can’t believe no one has posted about the new pipe threader and new rod cutter yet

Update: I guess they have and I can’t read :)

That rod cutter is cool. The only thing that I saw that I didn't like was it said the dies were only good for about 1,000 cuts. I wonder how much the die sets are going to run? I personally have no use for the tool, but I can see how it will be a huge hit across numerous trades.

Anyone know where I might be able to find a new vacuum attachment and extension for the m18 orbital sander?

While looking at the links on the foam, I see there is new Packout parts organizer coming out next month. $44 - part# 48-22-8430

The funny thing is, I thought this already existed, and just sold the Milwaukee non-Packout organizer to a friend thinking I'd order a PO version this week. Well I will still, but won't be here for a while, and my parts will be sitting in ice-cream jars a bit longer.

48-22-8430 is already out, released ~9 months ago, it must show preorder because Milwaukee ran out of stock, I have 3 of them lol

What was supposed to be out Q4 2018 is the mounting plates and the rolling platform dolly thing.... I really need the platform dolly

it does already exist. I own one. the HD near me that stocks PACKOUT stuff has 24 in stock:

acme and toolup, I have found, are terrible at stocking stuff. I keep going back because they do have good deals, but I have learned to not expect to get anything quickly.

Well, it looks new to me. The slim packouts have solid handles that stick out. The previous small packout parts organizer has the handle on the short end. This one has the handle on the long end. It looks like it would be easier to use than previous because it makes a better presentation from the front.

Yeah the sticking out handles of the slim orgs is a major Milwaukee brain fart. Everytime I look at my packout stacks and its all nice and flush to the point where the slim orgs are it pisses me off.

Sure enough. So my mind was thinking correctly. I mean how could they not have an organizer like that already.

I checked ToolNut as well before posting, and they listed a pre-order status as well. Next time, I'll check 3 sites. :)

Our HD's seem to have more selective tool options than many others I have found. One of the 4 in my area, just got a revised Milwaukee tool area with another 20ft? of tools, with a good portion dedicated to their SDS drills & bits (maybe a test, as it replaced Bosch). Also brought back several items that were clearanced out in the last year, like the radius light & Rocket Light w/ charger. It's also the only store with the soldering iron, and I'm sure other items I overlooked.

Thanks to both. Will be ordering from somewhere else for sure

it isn't thin. it is a "double gang" 48-22-8435. the benefit is that the wasted space between the two 8435's is usable in the 8430 to store items like zip ties.

from recent discussion, it appears that there are a fair number of PACKOUT users here.

what do you all think is missing from the system, either boxes in inserts?

I think I would like to see some configurable inserts for both the organizer boxes and the tool boxes.

currently, some of the PACKOUT cases that come with tools include inserts. some are blow molded, and at least one appears to be some kind of styrofoam thing.

I think that it would be good to get some hand tool inserts for both the small and the large organizers. but what I really want is a thin base, sized for the various cases, with a grid of holes and insertable posts (screw? flanged on the bottom fitting in cutouts in the base?) that allow me to create a custom, and changeable, insert to hold various things in place, like a drill, one or two of those bit/drill cases Milwaukee sells, and a spare battery or two, rather than a drill and a charger, which is my only option, and only if I buy a new drill/battery/charger, since I dont believe that insert is available separately.

and, if whomever did it was smart, they would include posts configured as grabs, and flat tops on all the posts, so that I could stack several of these bases inside the deeper boxes. this might mean that the bases for the deeper boxes need a short side wall around them, to add rigidity to the base necessary for lifting. maybe the handles can be mounted on the sides.

I would also like to see a small 1/2 width box that when you open the top, has a fast charger inside. take the cord out, plug it in, and insert the batteries you need charged. it would be really useful if instead of being configured like the current chargers, it just included three or four plugs. you could get USB battery, M12, and M18 heads to plug into them. say a 6" cord with the appropriate fitting to attach to the battery. that way, I could just get M12 "heads" for the charging station if you only had M12 tools in the stack. or add a USB one if you decided to start carrying around some of those lights.

I would also like to see a thin layer that would have attachment points around the perimeter that I could put in the top (or middle if there are a lot of levels) of the stack to allow me to attach things like 3' levels or rocket lights to the front and sides of the stack. ok, maybe only M12 rocket lights. ok, maybe this needs a bit more thought on how to get it all there without damage. but I am pretty sure it would be a lot more usable if I could attach some tower lights to the rig.

a52--Good points. In the meantime I will work off your idea and try to bungee my light on one side. At least it will keep all the stuff together.

For anyone using the 2110-20 USB flashlight, I pulled out my Coast color lens kit, and it's a perfect fit for the Milwaukee. My brother mainly uses it when hunting, but I've used the red lens on occasion.
Love my coast light, but now having a few Milwaukee lights, it made more sense to switch over. I am slightly preferential to the Coast's output spread, but by only a small margin. This is a HP8R w/ a USB battery I am comparing to, so very similar in comparison.

New Milwaukee hats and headgear -

https://www.milwaukeetool.com/Products/Work-Gear/Non-heated-Gear/Headwear

Ok - question for the guys that have the heated gloves.
Can you “realistically” use them on low and have your hands stay warm enough? I mean, obviously they are insulated gloves to begin with, and a decent pair should be “ok” even without heat - so I’m hoping even just a little heat being generated would be enough to keep hands warm..

Hour and half or 2 hours on high is useless for me - theres no way i can even begin to justify that kinda expense on something that isn’t gonna get me through a work day.

I completely get the dexterity thing, thats not my concern right now.. i have gift cards so I’m wondering if they will be remotely practical. I cant believe I’m even asking..

I cant believe they dont have non heated winter work glove options yet. I might pick up a few carhartt gloves for some guys at work. The ones i have now are pretty decent and the best I’ve found so far that i can still kinda work in.
