First kaizen project I was learning but made rookie mistakes, second one was a tough one but did a little better, third one below I rushed and maybe made more mistakes than first project. i wanted to have them sideways but want enough room for all 3 so this was best way to fit them.

You KNOW theres an m18 stubby coming... what better way to get everyone to buy the m12 version, then to release that first and then LATER introduce a more powerful m18 version.. 350ftlbs?? Lol.

Oh boy and an accesory BOOTIE TOO! :lol_hitti

Wonder if they will cross the $50 mark for the price. They have to be one of the highest margin items they sell, and they don't seem to push them at all, such as not advertising on the actual tool box it is an available accessory. :headscrat

It wouldn’t surprise me if it was in the 400-450 range to compete with the nano size air guns.

I doubt it - that would compete and eliminate market for the mid torque.

Their making the motor wider instead of longer (on the m12). So at what point does too wide become better than too long?..

I’m sure (eventually) we’ll see an updated “stubby” type m18, and then an upgraded mid torque later.. the idea is to keep giving people a reason to upgrade. They didn’t release 8k tv’s until everyone ran out and bought 4K. Thats why TVs are becoming cheap - so you upgrade instead of repair. There’s a 75” 4K LG in my Costco for $899.. what’s that tell ya.

Small steps - up the line.. we buy buy buy, and then when they touch the last model, the first gets an upgrade.. lol. Thats why TTI releases new models every 1-3 yrs instead of 6 like most used to.

What we really need is a computer nerd that can hack the programming on one key tools.
And SOMEONE to 3D print an m12 tool to m18 battery adapter.

Ya but at the 450 it would displace the MidTorque

Agree though there is a void in the M18 lineup now with an M12 unit that has higher rated specs than the current M18 compacts

Exactly. By accident? Marketing plan?

Would you buy the m12 if a similar sized m18 with more power was released first?

How much $ for one of you 3D guys to print up an m18 to m12 battery converter, or do we need government funding for someone to do this?

I think there'd be an issue stepping down the voltage and limiting the overall power from the M18 packs to the M12 tool. Definitely not "undoable", but the required electronics would likely be larger than what could fit in the handle of an M12 tool. There are switch mode power supplies that could fit in the handle but they'd limit power enough to where they'd probably perform worse than an M12 battery.

Well some people are only in M12 or M18 so. But its like the MT 1/2, many of us would of never bought if the MT 3/8 was out first, how many of us own both because they spaced the releases?

Just got a 2704-20 hammer drill. On my other Milwaukee 2604-20 it had 1/4” 20 threads...which uses a Rohm 802490...great chuck.

This new 2704-20 hammer drill has 9/16” 18 threads...

I would like to put a good Rohm keyless on it...and cannot find one.

Can one of you Milwaukee guys point me to a good Rohm or similar chuck...thanks...

I found a thread that listed part number 1325031...but did not include who sells them...any ideas if this is correct or where to buy would be appreciated...

I've seen an AvE video where he has done a runout check on cordless chucks.

When I get finally get time to setup some stuff I going try to duplicate that. I have equipment hanging around a couple of dial indicators, and adjustable magnetic base holder, and huge 3/4 or 1 inch piece of flat steel was once a plate press, just have to dig it out of storage and the devise a way to clamp down hold the drills still while running.

I know for a fact my old Makita is smooth as can be...the 2607 meh, but I can't visually detect any problems with my 2607 or ANY of my M12's brushed or brushless.

Has anyone bought and used the M18™ FUEL™ String Trimmer with QUIK-LOK™ Attachment Capability
MILWAUKEE-2825-20ST

Well I ordered one anyway and I have the following to report. It works great and switching attachments is a piece of cake. I have 1/4 acre homesite and weed eater and edged without no issues. Barley used any of the 5.0 battery I put on it. It is heavier than my gas powered line trimmer but not an issue for me since I use it on a standard size yard. As I have been with all Milwaukee tools I have purchased since drinking the red kool aid I am very pleased.

I would, just for the more compact size of m12.

It's never been about runout for me, just function. The Rohms are smoother and lock down (and subsequently unlock) better.

I've picked up a few used Rohms off eBay. One of them had .014 TIR. I actually tried fixing it last night with a theory I had, but to no avail. I've got a new Rohm on a 2801 I used as my control which had about .003-.004 runout, which is actually incredibly good for a chuck in a hand drill - I'll tell ya MOST 3-jaws on lathes are worse than that unless they started life as a high-dollar chuck.

But again, it's not about runout - I just tried to get the used Rohm better.

The Milwaukee chuck on my 2804 still seems better than the Milwaukee chucks of old, so I haven't ordered the 9/16-18 replacement yet. Or maybe the red stripe on the chuck is just messing with my mind (or what little I have of one, as the gf would point out....)

Perhaps the best thing I did was put a 1/2" capacity Rohm on my 2407, but then I actually I use my 2407 a lot -- with countersinks

Is Rohm what used to come on some of the older Dewalts? I had an 18v XRP drill with an identical looking chuck (12 years ago maybe). The chuck was outstanding.

Is the 2554 3/8 stubby worth upgrading to from the 2754 m18 3/8s? I've had the m18 for a little over a year, still works and looks like new. Just wondering if its worth the $

Naw...

Unless you really want to be on the M12 platform.

Personally I prefer the 1/2" 55 even over the 54 for the power torque ranges

Just my own opinion more available oomph with a M18 battery,

I'd say only for size reasons - the 2754 (M18) is narrower side to side, but the 2554 (M12) is shorter front to back.

I had the M18 3/8 impact and switched to the stubby.
I repair ATV's as a side business. The M18 was great for everything except for taking off wheels. It had the power, but I always had to use an extension to remove the lug nuts because the m18 battery would hit the tire with only a deep socket.. The angle of the grip on the m12 gave me more room and solved that problem. I also like the m12 better for pulling of the skid plates, I have a little more room because the stubby is so short.
