I'm sure this has been beaten to death, but I'm not sure I want to sift through 899 pages to find the discussion.

M18 surge or the vanilla? Why?

M18 surge or the vanilla? Why?

Surge: quieter, nice for small fasteners, not good for things that require a socket. Specific applications.

Milli Vanilli: louder, but pretty great at pretty much everything in the realm of modern impact drivers/accessories. Jack of all trades.

Without hesitation, my vote:

My gas lawn mover's pull cord just broke. Got me thinking about lawnmowers. Any rumor of Milwaukee releasing a lawnmower at this year's event?

I've got the string trimmer 2725-21HD that's not Quik-Lok and I need an edger. Any news on Milwaukee selling just the base Quik-Lok without an attachment?

I don’t mind if they want to run dual 12.0 or even dual 15.0. Heck, I’d be ok with triples. I just want them to release one. My yard is small enough and I just want to have a single platform.

? Re: Battery Warranty. I've got one battery that while is fully charged, is showing 1 bar on the battery charge display (M18). I thought is was charged when it showed ~1 bar~.
Dropped it on the charger. It went straight to green.

Took it off the charger. Went down to 3 bars. A few seconds later, checked the charge level, and it showed 1 bar. Date code is dec '17. This would be my 1st battery warranty out of 40+ batteries

Yeah, it happens. Milwaukee is very good about warrantying them thankfully.

Probably just an odd ball. My brother dropped a brand new 4.0 and it exploded :headscrat

Tomorrow is my birthday and family asked what I wanted. I want a light but I’m not sure between the rescue light, the small rover, or the dual power rover. Also interested in the big stereo that can run off batteries or charge them. Anyone have an opinion on that stereo vs the smaller one that can run m18/m12? I have the m18 tools, my father has m12 so I do have access to those batteries.

His birthday is actually Thursday and I need to pick something out for him. The stubby impact caught my interest but I’m not sure how much he would actually use it since he has the ratchet and the impact driver already. He likes the square light I got him last year but he doesn’t like how it’s hard to aim since it really only sits one way.

Do you mean search light when you say rescue light?

I have the bigger m18 radio charger.. the Bluetooth speaker i DONT have (m18 version). I wouldnt call the bigger radio model a big achievement in sound quality - its good, no incredible bass - definitely loud enough, but it has the radio - which the other is just a speaker.. radio has a clock on it too that will keep time if that matters.

I love the big M18 radio charger, its a fixture in the garage, use the charger all the time, its loud, having the radio tuner was nice before the awesome radio station in the area was sold & destroyed, now I just use bluetooth.

Rescue light? You mean search light? I hardly use mine but doesnt mean its not great.

The M12 rover flood is awesome, use it more than anything. Own but hate the M18 rover flood.

The M18 dual power flood is nice, but its so large, sometimes tough to find a big enough spot to put it. Never use the cord, cause I have plenty of big batteries. This light is on sale for $130, but there have been better deals in the past, but it also qualifies for the buy $250 in lights and get the USB pivot flashlight for free promo now.

The M12 Rocket tower light has a free 6.0 now thats a good option.

Yeah I meant search light. I think I might go with that one. I like the dual power because of the lumens and dual power since I don’t have a ton of batteries but it’s pretty big.

I used the radio charger at my old job and the sound quality was fine for me. I didn’t realize that the dual power one didn’t have a radio so that one is out.

Where is that $250 light promo with the free pivot light?

The search light is awesome, was using it around the house doing construction and lights up areas pretty good and is stable. The search beam goes really far to.

I'll help you out with your dad. I have the huge 1/2 drive impact (2763). I have the mid torque. I have the original M12 fuel 3/8 impact (2454). Lastly I got the 2554 3/8 m12 stubby impact. The stubby is the only one I use, so far I haven't had it fail. I'm sure I'll need one of the bigger ones when I do my next brake job, though.

I just did my brakes and used the stubby for the whole job. It struggled some on the caliper brackets, but it did get them. And it was faster since I didn't have to turn the wheels to fit a bigger impact in there.

That stubby sure is something! I just changed a seat belt with mine, it didn't even struggle.

I just got the 3/8 stubby and boot myself. 6.0 already on hand. Got some nice sunsex swivel impact sockets that i never had a reason to use yet, and 4 new rotors and new pads front and back to install on my daily driver..

Speaking of pads - anyone use these new (i assume they’re still new) hybrid Raybestos Element brake pads? I got mine off Rock Auto.

anyone get the (fairly) new m12 rocket light? i purchased the m12 rover floodlight and its ok but the only unique practical application i use it for is when im working on a car on the floor (or if my underhood light runs out). When working under a lift, its practically useless. this rocket light is a tripod (which i thought about fabricating for the rover but now i would just buy the rocket). I want to hear feedback (specifically cons). Thanks!

I have it and I like it. I'd say the only con is that there are pretty much two positions. Half way extended and fully extended. It doesn't like to stay put anywhere in the middle. Light output is good for m12 and it's very portable and compact.

At 60 yoa, I find myself back in a full time job turning wrenches. I'm a marine tech and work mostly on outboard powered boats. I'm 3 weeks into a new job where I'm banging out service work, 3-4 boats a day, 9 hours a day. My go to tool is a an M12 1/4" impact driver and I use it all day long. 3 weeks on one 4.0 battery and it's still going.

I only have a couple of M12 tools, but I love them. My favorite is the non-stubby M12 Fuel 3/8" impact and a 3/8" to 1/4" hex adapter. I am a little surprised you are using the big (and heavy) 4.0 Ah battery pack. I would think that the lightness of the 3.0 would be a big bonus.

I think that is what I got last year for my '98 E150. It was "top pf the line" Raybestos. They wear well and do not make a lot of dust.

I also have been using the "top of the line" Raybestos rotor (NOT the drilled and slotted ones). That last pair I bought, one was made in the USA and the other in Canada. Probably have been sitting on a shelf for 10 or 15 years.

I saw the height size on the specs but practically, you think it would be a good light for under a car on a lift?

Bought the Milwaukee penlight. I just got a new streamlight stylus pro from warranty and when I didn’t have it, I realized how much I rely on penlights so I wanted a second. The lumen output on the Milwaukee is higher at 100 lumens (my original streamlight was 65 but I think the new one they sent is 90. I just don’t remember it being that bright). Because of the tru light, the streamlight seems so much brighter but sometimes too bright isn’t good

I really like the Milwaukee penlight, have 3 of them, and use the bite end all the time which I did not imagine at first when I found out it had a padded end for biting.

Yeah I noticed that too yesterday, it stinks.

Sales were booming when you could stack codes on promos, going so good they lowered the $ free ship threshold. Then they stopped allowing discounts on promos, sales plummeted, free ship back to $200. My theory at least....

sadly, they are back to 200$ for free shipping. too bad it still isn't 49$ . . . .

Used the RED2DAY thing today. I've been eyeing the M12 Rotary tool kit for a while and I was wanting a couple of the USB rechargeable Rover lights. Didn't notice the crappy $199 for free shipping change until I was ready to check out. I was about $8 short So, thought about exiting on general principal, but in the end, bought the SAE and Metric Hex Key 9 in 1's. I've had the torx one for a while and use it over the HF separates set I have...so why not It's only money...

Milwaukee warranty exchanged my m18 gen 1 vaccum and gave me a brand new unit that will fit the larger batteries. Also has a spot to store the hose Inside unlike older version.

I'll add myself to this list of endorsements for the stubby impact... I also own the big boy, the 2767 but I can't remember the last time I had to use it - the stubby has taken care of everything I've thrown at it so far. I really do love the 4th "auto shut-off" mode, I have it in this mode 99% of the time. Makes wheel service so much faster... I can now run lug nuts back on without fear of over-torquing, grab my torque wrench, and I'm done.

What light do you have ? I got the kit for the original M18 floody. I can't recall the details but I opted to not do the retrofit. Aside from making it higher overall, it changed something I did not like on the profile of it. Just FWIW
