What are your opinions on the gen 1 vs gen 2 blower?

I have a gen 1 that I have been happy with for about 18 months. It does what I ask of it, which is mostly to blow the dust and leaves out of the garage and off of the driveway and sidewalks around the house. When I say leaves, I mean maybe 25 leaves per hundred feet, and always dry. Nothing severe for a blower.

I recently got the string trimmer with free blower deal of the day (which OnTrac delivered to the wrong house and denied doing so...) And now have a gen 2 blower also.

One thing that comes to mind is that the gen 1 was a second hand purchase and is probably out of warranty and the gen 2 I've got a receipt for. I'm not sure if that will ever matter or not.

I'm going to keep one and sell one. Which would you keep?

My dad just bought the same string trimmer/blower deal. He had the gen 1 blower and I already had the gen 2. Personally I feel the size of the gen 2 is worth the upgrade in its self. I would say the variable speed switch design is better on the gen 1 but I don’t use the variable speed function so it’s not a biggie for me. Ergonomics go to the gen 2. Also you can set the gen too on the floor and it will stay upright.

My quik-lok extension for the pole saw on backorder was pushed to mid-August. Acme says due to production and distribution delays.

I thought they were shipping back when first released, has anyone gotten one?

I just got the M18 super sawzall kit last week. Used it today for the first time. Friend had a HUGE cottonwood tree fall on her house this morning. Went up and used it to cut a lot of the limbs and smaller stuff. Very impressive. My 12ah battery was on 2 bars and still cut a huge amount of stuff. The weight of the tool is heavy but works to its advantage also. I was nervous and was contemplating taking it back but it sold itself today. Great saw.

Huge PITA for me to get mine. Ironically I just an alert from HD yesterday saying they are still waiting on them to come back. I was tired of waiting in April, so I called in to HD, and a rep gave me estimated dates they would be getting some. They never did come on the dates said, but randomly I saw them in stock, yet NEVER got an alert. Lucky for me, I caught them when Acme had $20 off $100, so I bought 2 for $88. Then went back to sold out an hour or so later.

I laughed when I received mine, because it carries the Fuel moniker. I get it is used with a Fuel tool, but seems like stretch. It is one more entry for 1in10 chance of a free shirt though!

After not finding anything in the documentation about using 2 extensions, I gave it a whirl. While it works, there is too much flex. I sort of wish they would have released the extension in multiple sizes, such as a 3' & 5'.

After doing a bunch of sweeping this last week, I can't wait for them to come out with a sweeper attachment, though that is still behind a cultivator attachment.

I wonder what the issue/delay is then. Unless the totally underestimated the supply they needed. Or perhaps something is being reworked on design/manufacturing.

Also any word on the alleged Super Chargers? Or were those supposed to be tied to the 16.0 release that hasn't (won't?) happen

I wouldn't mind a way to charge 12.0s faster...

They finally have a picture up on the new USB battery charger power source.

https://www.milwaukeetool.com/Products/Batteries-and-Chargers/Other/48-59-2013

Another classic case of why didnt they make it like this in the first place....

Outdated to me already. Implement USB-C already, both faster charging of the battery & your device, also just one port. If the rotten Apple has switched to it, or just about to this fall, I'd like to see Milwaukee get the jump on this. Not saying the current one shouldn't be offered, but they could have easily announced two models.

This more so applies to the M12 power source / charger. I got one for $10 & really only need a power source, otherwise it's one Milwaukee item I can live without.

Yep, 2 years ago Micro USB would have been great. Not so much anymore.

Forgot to check that, yeah not having USB-C on anything created the past 2 years is just dumb.

You can still charge a USB C device, you’ll just need a USB C cable of your own. As for charging the battery with micro usb goes I think it still makes sense. The majority of devices out there still use it. And most people have plenty of spare micro chargers laying around to put in the garage to charge things like this.

You guys are right about Type C! My Moto Z uses it, and I think it makes way more sense than micro USB, if for no other reason than being symmetrical and stronger (less likely to break)

While you can get an adapter, you lose the high rate charging speed that what makes USB-C desirable. And you can get an adapter doing the reverse for micro-usb devices, so that makes more sense. That is if they were to only make one version, but they already have the micro, so just add the C to the lineup.

Same goes for the Packout radio. Couldn't have included one of each port there at least?

I saw in a video last night, that the latest version of the Ryobi 40c charger doubles as a USB power source. It will charge a USB device while charged into the wall, but if you unplug the charger & have a battery still attached, that will charge the USB device.
I have not confirmed, but why is it the "cheap" company is implementing neat features like that. On many days I would rather take those conveniences over the over-hyped One-Key that has minimal advantages most of the time. I know one cost a lot more in R&D and marketing.

Not to mention the micro USB standard is almost 10 years old, even USB-C is almost 5 years old, I dont understand the decision companies make to use old technology.

If the packout radio was USB-C I might buy it solely for that. Nothing supports the last 2 USB versions for data and power excepts USB-C, plus then they could kill the AUX input like phones are LOL, everything can go over USB-C.

That is what the finance guy would say in the meeting about the cost to build a device where they would tell him its 10 cents a unit for micro USB or 50 cents a unit for USB-C

When you send in a 4 year old impact wrench because the light won’t turn off and they send you a brand new unit with a free battery [emoji1417]

Thanks Milwaukee!

But why limit it to charging one device? I have a Polaroid brand pack that has 3 outputs - it can charge 3 things at once.

Size and battery capacity. Adding an extra USB port would make it bigger. And with only a single 18650 battery it's not going to have enough capacity to charge more than once device. And probably not enough to even fully charge most phones one time.

personally, I would rather have one unit to charge all the supported battery platforms.

I would prefer it have the ability to charge them all at the same time, but could live with the round robin thing if it supported all three current platforms (M12, M18, and the battery they put in the USB chargeable devices).

I forgot about that implementation to the chargers. You would think had they done that with the super charger, they might sell a few of them that way. Otherwise I see them having to promo or package that charger to really move any.
If you are needing a large capacity battery that quick, you most likely have multiple already. It makes more sense to get the 6-bay rapid charger. You can charge 3 batteries at ~2x speed simultaneously, rather than 1 at ~4x speed.

I'm thinking the ideal charger to is a 2 simultaneously bay rapid charging 2x M18, 2x M18, 2x USB batteries, at least 1 USB-C port, standard USB-port, and the ability to work as a power source to charge USB devices. The Ryobi inverter device has a built in LED that is surprisingly bright & helpful, so a small light, like a 100 lumen single LED. Use a inlet plug for extension cord powering, as well as at least one pass-thru power outlet.
Charge $120. Want to really milk some money with the standard $50 upcharge, add One-Key to alert people when the battery is at 80% or 100%.
If the cost to do super charging really is minor, I'd like to see that as well, but seems that is a premium feature they think demands a significant increase.

Nothing at Home Depot on display, so not Ryobi or Echo. They didn't have any Ego attachments, so there is another possibility. I know some of the other brands are inter-compatible, but the two at HD for sure don't work.

It is not compatible with stihl or ryobi. They both use square drive. The Milwaukee uses a 7 point star. The ego 56v stuff also uses a 7 point star but i haven't been able to confirm if they fit together.

In reference to the Home Depot m12 inflator plus battery kit deal that went live today (6/24 - buy a m12 inflator, get free M12 Starter Kit w/ 3.0Ah and 1.5Ah Batteries for $99)

I have been in the market for more m12 batteries. I was curious what the out the door price would be for the m12 battery starter kit if the inflator was returned back to home depot. Also, if you were in the market for an inflator, what would be the out the door price if the m12 starter kit was returned? Anyone tried this yet?

I guess it’s possible HD would accept the inflator back, but they prorate the price - meaning you won’t get what they sell the inflator for, you’ll get the value of the inflator is within the combo. I’ve never tried and and skeptical HD would even accept it, unless there was some issue with the inflator, but have read on here that it’s possible. I also believe it matters if your purchase was online or in store, as there is a difference

I guess that will still be the yellow W/D. I presume power is similar - which is it does not job, albit not great. I'd rather go to the ~corded~ option given the 3 then...

I grabbed the 18V RYOBI wet/dry vac. I have the Rigid AC vac and bought the nice flex hose for it. Going to connect that hose to my RYOBI today and see how that is. Hoping it works well for cleaning the truck

Man, I know this is the Milwaukee addiction thread and two weeks ago, I jumped in to the M12 Fuel frenzie and am very happy. But I just vacuumed my truck with the Ryobi P3240 wet/dry vac and it worked very well. I was actually trying to connect a longer Rigid hose to it, then I realized the hose that came on the Ryobi is 6 feet long. The suction is excellent. I used a 6AH battery, but it only took me a few minutes to vacuum the truck, so a smaller battery would have worked. However, I likes the added weight of the heavier battery, to keep the vac in place, while I pulled the hose. It would be nice if it had a brush attachment, but I have a box of strays from Dysons and others along the way. They seem to fit well, so I'll try that next time.

Anyway, sorry to hijack, but I'm heavily invested in Ryobi and their specialty tools are why. I used the inflator-deflator today. I liked it so much, I just ordered the M12 inflator to compare. I'm thinking the M12 would make a more compact travel companion in the truck, but also looking at 110V inflators.

Ryobi is Milwaukee’s cousin - trust me, people dont mind. There’s a guy on here that sells ryobi tools to m18 battery converters.

Yeah. It's funny that the salemen at HD either wear Ryobi or Milwaukee shirts. Just wear all the logos and get on with it. Soon they'd look like NASCAR drivers!

No, but it always works in store to return part of the bundle. First, if you want the batteries as cheap as possible, you don't buy the inflator, get the stapler. That will make each item $50. Cost of the inflator is $43.94
