That's interesting, I had the same experience with the DeWalt chargers/batteries - which is why I wound up going Milwaukee over the Dewalt system. I found myself pushing REALLY hard getting the batteries to engage with the chargers. I didn't like that, returned the DeWalt stuff I bought, and went red. I haven't had the experience you had with any of my Milwaukee stuff, and I now own 5 chargers and 10 batteries between m12 and m18 stuff. I think you may have gotten a bad charger, not a batch of bad batteries.

It was definitely the batteries. The first kit I bought that did it, I tried that battery both in the charger that came with it, and with another M12 charger I previously had. Battery wouldn't go into either. I also tried other 1.5ah batteries I already had and they went into both chargers just fine.

Returned that kit and got the next one on the shelf and the same thing happened. The 4ah battery that came in the kit wouldn't go into the charger that came with it or my older charger, but my other 1.5ah batteries would fit into either one fine.

After I rammed the 4ah in it finally seated fully. Seems like there's a lack of any kind of lead-in or alignment for the battery in the charger. There's just two straight prongs that either seem to go into the terminals in the battery or don't (unless forced).

The other thing I wish they had was a set of laser levels. They have a better selection of tools than Bosch (the other system I was considering), but I'd really like some 3-axis laser levels that use M12 batteries.

Laser levels are already battery powered (just usually batteries like AA size), and the batteries last quite a long time in them as it is. If they made an M12 laser level I think a 1.5ah battery would last a year! Probably not super necessary. Plus you can get rechargeable AA batteries.

The cordless tools that really shine are the ones with a high enough amperage draw that they need to be corded. If you could run a drill on AA batteries that would probably be a big seller to the general public (think about not having to invest in $50+ batteries and chargers and different amp-hour sizes, etc).

Indeed on the lasers. The only Bosch I have in my stash is a pair of levels . Love it though - fact I can turn off lights from a distance with my BT phone connection.

It also came with a choice of a bare tool for $99.00. I chose a 2447-20 crown stapler. After I got home I realized I don't really need a crown stapler but it will get used at some point. Have any of you guys used this stapler and what do you think of it?

Double check, I think you got a 2-pack of 3.0 compact batteries there. $70 is what they just were marked down to. If that is the case, I would return the 1.5/3.0 starter kit, you will get $49.50 back.
If you want an XC battery, buy the M12 rocket light with the 6ah XC, and the 6ah will only be $60. Much better than the starter kit for $50 imo.

Something on the hardhats.. if thats the ACTUAL picture, of their class E hardhat - i dont know if ive ever seen a vented class E before.. class e is rated for like 20,000 volts. (Cause just looking at the picture quick, i thought it was dumb to market so many tools to lineman and NOT have one electrically rated) i know ive read about some hardhat testing, and that tests had showed they couldnt get an arc to go INSIDE the vents - but i dont know if ive ever seen someone actually market a vented class E..

I dont think i could wear that.. my company would probably (almost definitely) make an issue over not wearing the hardhat provided, regardless of rating. I couldnt even say “i lost mine” - cause they have them in these fastenal vending machines like 100’ away from our office.

Yea it's just a company ID with an RF chip I assume. Some of the machines are just like candy machines, others are just locker doors that open and u manually enter the quantity taken. Some have scales that register the weight change. I'll take pics later. I literally just tripped over a curb getting coffee and got a boot full of water. So I'm sitting here with one foot out trying to dry it off as we wait for outages to come in. Bad rain just hit.

Surprising DeWalt just announced their version, didnt think it was something they would venture into. Seems Milwaukee and DeWalt are locked into offering all the same new tools. Whats next DeWalt 12v ratchets...

Got mine a couple weeks ago on clearance. Saw, 12ah, Charger and bag for $267. Used it a couple times. It is a beast for sure. Heavy, but you can tell it has plenty of power.

was just on acme looking at reconditioned tools. can someone explain to me the logic in buying a tool for 50 bucks less and loose out on 4 years of warranty? the whole thing makes no sense.
additionally, the whole buying in home depot starter kits plus a tool thing, does it help if you want the starter kit? i would love more batteries if its a decent price.

Milwaukee quickloc weed wacker kit with free polesaw attachhment, plus bought edger as well. Only used the edger which I like alot but will soon use the rest.

The new HO packs will deliver more power than the older batteries. So say you notice extra power from a 5.0xc in your drill vs what you get from a 2.0cp. A 3.0cp should offer similar results in a tool as the 5.0xc does. You'll only get ~60% of the runtime though since the amp hours still matter. Size and weight could be a small factor, but honestly not much of one. a 3.0cp is only .2lbs lighter than a 5.0xc since the newer cells are larger. a 3.0cp will be slightly shorter than a 5.0xc, but it will be longer and wider than the 5.0xc.

Overall if you find HO's with similar amp hours to the older XC packs for similar money per amp hour or a slight premium then they're worth it. Maybe an extra $20 for a 6.0HO over a 5.0XC, or same cost for an 8.0HO as a 9.0XC. Just don't get carried away with the hype and pay a big premium the newer packs unless you have to have them for one of the newer tools that really need them like the table saw.

First and most importantly is the drill. Ive been doing a bit of research/stopping by HD etc but there seems to be an overwhelming amount of options for drills...do you guys recommend an M12 or M18? Hammer drill or non-hammer drill? Standard? Brushless? Fuel?

As for use, just casual homeowner but we do own a small hobby farm on 40-acres so its used more than your average homeowner...but still not commercially in any way. I definitely want a 1/2" drill but the hammer options probably not needed? I guess my biggest questions are a) M12 or M18? b) Fuel or non-Fuel?

I see a lot of kits for $199 that have the drill and impact driver but I already have an impact driver - are there any other kits that include the drill + another tool that might be handy instead of just buying the drill alone?

I would only buy Fuel, simply you get more performance for the same size and weight. I'd start with an M12 drill, they're surprisingly powerful for their size, and incredibly light and easy to use. If you find a few situations where an M12 is not powerful enough, then grab an M18. I already have a rotary hammer, so saw no need to get a hammer drill.

I dont think I really NEED the hammer option...but is there any downside to just getting the 2504 instead of the 2503? Does the hammer drill weigh significantly more than the non-hammer? Any difference in durability/longevity?

EDIT: they look identical on the Milwaukee website, same dimensions and weight. Seems to me theres no harm in getting the hammer option, even if I don't use it much.

Ordered a 2504-20 from eBay...brand new, separated from a package. Had a coupon so it came to $53.99...figured I can't go wrong at that price. All I currently have are a bunch of the compact 2.0 (I think they are) batteries so I grabbed an XC 4.0 too to go along with it.

I know right. I have switched from all DeWalt cordless. But the compressor is gonna stay for the time being. I am not quite that OCD.......okay maybe I am but it’s still gonna stay. Spent too much money for now. Gonna have to wait it out for a while. On a side note I am really surprised Milwaukee hasn’t come out with a compressor, or a fuel multitool. But who knows.

I actually don’t have a lot of metal stuff. I don’t have the new grinder either. Not one of those tools I would use. I do want to get the 4 1/2” fuel grinder but haven’t yet.

It's a little late now, but some folks have reported wobbly chucks from the hammer drills. Just make sure yours runs true and you should be OK.

CORDED Super Hawg or Cordless Super Hawg ?

I have both. I've yet to put the cordess through the MUD mixer wringer like I do with my Corded Super Hawg. I should have tested it.....just mixed up some mud with my good 'ole Corded Super Hawg. One of the few handful of corded tools that is still the tool of choice I grab
