Given that the stubby is such a new tool, I would check ebay. I've seen them go for around $150-$160 there - just buy from an experienced seller with lots of positive feedback. Anyone worried about warranty should be reminded that even without a receipt, Milwaukee will honor the 5 year warranty from the date of manufacture on the label - since this tool is barely a year old, you have a least 4 years left of warranty coverage even if you buy without the benefit of an authorized retailer like CPO who sells on ebay.

I bought off acme with 10% off... 164. Price like that, was worth it to by authorized. Surprised eBay sellers are getting people to buy for 150-160. A warranty for an extra year is worth 10 bucks IMO

I want the 3/8” stubby so bad. But I just don’t use it all the time and find it hard to spend the money. Even though with Menards in my neck of the woods it would be 31% off total. Could get it for around $153 with tax. If I have it figured right.

Honestly I have a M18 hex fuel impact. It removes my cars lug nuts just fine with 3/8 or 1/2 adapters. It's more versatile than the m12 3/8 stubby.

I had thought about that as well. I do work on all my own stuff but I don’t normally use impacts for 3/8 stuff. Just not used to it. I normally do everything 3/8” by hand. Just not used to it. I have the 3/8 fuel ratchet but for get to use that sometimes too. Maybe I just need to stop looking at it and move on.

Yes, but...

The square drive will deliver more torque to the fastener due to the flex in the 1/4" hex
The 1/4" hex drive will fail in fatigue - I've broken a few of them

FWIW, they make square to hex adapters - this was ~$17

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002KKBBQ0/?tag=atomicindus08-20

Buying the 3/8 square drive impact and adapting to 1/4" hex might be a better solution than the other way around if you do more mechanic work with sockets than wood work with drive bits.

Where do you guys get your replacement friction rights from? Straight from Milwaukee? I tried one from Amazon and it sucked.

What's a friction right?

Do you mean friction ring? Like for a square drive impact? If so, directly from Milwaukee (I have a local hardware/service center that stocks them for a couple $ each).

Just browsing acmes site to see if anything seems new and exciting. Came across the 3 combo 2997-23PO. On sale with free shipping for 449. Comes with the 2804 drill, 2853 impact, fuel sawzall, we 5.0 batteries and the rolling pack out box. Seems like a wicked deal.

There was a post on here where someone took the m12 2nd gen fuel 1/4 hex impact and and put the 1/4 square anvil on it and said it worked great. I'm thinking about doing that so I can get the power plus the size form since the 1/4 square version is longer and not and fast and whatnot as the hex.

Nope. Best promo at the moment is buying a Ryobi for 1/2 the price (battery included). Need a 2nd container, get a whole 2nd sprayer for someone else to use.

Unless you are switching between that many chemicals, and just one person spraying, then I see the Milwaukee appeal. Though some will then realize you can get a whole sprayer for what they want for the tank. Outfitting each tank with it's own wand, while understandable from a contamination aspect, really drives the cost up. Not like you can use more than one wand with out having another base, so you have to "re-buy" that.

Even at $200, I don't think I can see myself buying, knowing what a 2nd tank will cost (even if dropped to $100 it would be too much), and I do a lot of spraying on the farm. At most, I'd pay $400 for a sprayer & 3 tanks.

My pre order Milwaukee rain jacket arrived last week.. pretty nice
Got a few chances to use their new utility 7/16 hex impact. If i didnt already mention it - that thing is friggin incredible. Almost too powerful.. don’t remember if i posted that. Not a bog fan of their 3 in 1 utility socket.. too big, too heavy, i hate the small size is a 4 point socket only, so its harder to get on the nuts. The other 2 sizes are also 4 point, but close enough like all others, the 1” and 1 1/8” are close enough to use both on 1” nuts. The 1” one is a little too exact for a 4 point, and the nuts like to get stuck in it.. i like the Greenlee flip socket much better - but thats just me.

And YUP - of course - the one person i work with that i wouldnt mind if he got hit by a truck - made an issue, and made sure that new truck that WAS being assigned to me, went to somebody else.. so - i am now following the path of “least responsibility” which i have been put on.. our lovely new union rep (that got elected with one vote, his).

I tried to use the search function but this thread is way too big.

I need a new circular saw. I have an M12 circular saw that works great for 5/4 but if it gets into green, wet 2X lumber it just doesn't have enough balls.

I want to get the M18 2-1/4" but it has the blade on the right hand side. I have a Milwaukee corded 7-1/4" saw and the blade is on the left, my worm drive Skill saw has the blade on the left, My M12 has the blade on the left.

The M18 6-1/2" saw has the blade on the left.

So here is my question. Can the 6-1/2" saw go through wet 2X lumber without bogging?

I have a good supply of 7-1/4" blades for my other saws and hate to stock another size blade but I'm not sure I can deal with the right side blade on the M18 7-1/4" saw.

Pics of the Milwaukee impact with the Greenlee socket please. If it's the NR1, how do you keep from losing it if you drop it from up on a pole?

I have the right side blade 7 1/4 Fuel. In my opinion the right sided blade *****. At 90* the blades is a real pain to keep up with. At 45* the visibility is great. It was the only option for a full size blade when I purchased. I would seriously look at the “wormdrive” saw they just released if you want a left handed blade. Just my opinion.

I have a Honda Civic and my M18 newest Gen fuel hex zips them all off no problem!

Interesting. I guess I should try my 3 gen fuel. I tried it once before on my Scion xB but it was with my 2 gen fuel. I know the 3 gen has noticeably more power. I will try it just for shits a giggles. I have a 3/8 stubby witch is freggin awesome and use it any chance I get to. So never thought about trying my 3 gen hex but I will just to see what will happen. I do want to take a fuel m12 2nd gen hex impact and convert it to a 1/4 square anvil but since I have other tools I need more it's been in the back burner. But thanks for the replay.

Yes its the NR1. It uses a ball retention. If you tighten the Allen key screw opposite the ball, you can increase the socket retention a bit (not as much as youd like it though). But honestly, i just got in the habit of pulling the socket off and leaving the adapter in the gun or separate in the tray after each use. The socket slides on and off easy enough that i just keep it in a tray so it CANT fall off the gun. Makes putting the gun in a holster or tray/bag that much easier too.

The new impact is a beast (for line work). The highest setting is almost too fast. First hole i drilled with it using the shockwave 11/16 auger bit - when the bit broke through the other side of the pole is sucked the hole gun into the pole. I wasnt ready or even expecting for that to happen. The kits with the new model we are getting have 9.0 batteries too.

When i get a chance I’m gonna use it on high with the smaller hanger nuts (3/4” nut i think) and i wanna see it can snap the bolt if i really let it hammer on the thing.

This isnt the newest impact (i just already have this picture). The new one is a little smaller, (mid torque sized) and the handle a little longer.

There’s suppose to be another bucket truck coming this week i think. Not new. An entire garage of lineman, and their boss, got fired a few weeks ago. (Dont even ask). so i assume those trucks are being reassigned. My boss tells me hes giving it to me.. my response was “what if i dont want it”?. “Just tell me and ill give it someone else”.

Dont even know if I’m gonna bother trying to go out of my way anymore. I already put a “do not call” next to my name for after hours emergency work.
Weather yesterday was murder.
Too hot today, took the day off..

Big 5G build coming to NJ soon if anyone cares..

I just found out the hard way this toolbox (pre-Packout-anything) is most DEFINITELY not rain proof. It went through a couple heavy Colorado rain storms, but just sitting (parked) in the bed of my truck.

I really don't understand why a plastic toolbox can't shed water coming at it from the top. The red "gasket" is merely for looks I guess

I lost a 9.0 and had some rather rusty tools

Future addict here (hopefully) :) I currently have a nice small collection of Ryobi 18V gear, but over the past couple months I've decided that I'll be supplementing it with Milwaukee M12/M18 gear for tools which I want to be higher performance, more durable, or automotive related (hammer drill, 3/8 stubby impact, ratchets, scope, etc).

I feel like in years past I'd see many stores with demo tool setups with lag bolts, screws, plywood, etc to allow you to try tools out in the store. I've been to probably a half dozen stores in the past few months (Lowes, HD, True Value, ACE, Fastenal) and haven't seen any of these demo displays.

Have retailers more or less done away with these type of demo displays, or do my local stores just ****? Does anyone know of any chain stores where I might be able to find a demo display?

My kids when they know we are going to HD they tell me to bring my bit and battery, as usually its a M12 display for test screws. Rarely see much else, even finding tools with not dead batteries is tough, kids like to test out any tool with a battery.

Impulse bought a heated hoodie the other day. Was looking around on CPO Outlet and came across it during their 15% off $100 sale. I also had a $15 credit related to another purchase. So ended up paying $70 and change.
I have a soft spot for Milwaukee, another soft spot for zip up hoodies, so I figured I'd give it a go. I live in Florida so, the heater would only be put to use maybe a couple months a year...
Anyhow, anybody have any strong feeling positive of negative about these?

I love my heated hoodie, wear them all the time even without battery, it might be 2 but definitely 1 version older. I also have 2 older heated jackets which I love, havent used the Axis heated jacket much but its awesome too, also have non heated gridiron jacket, and freebie heated hand warmer I havent used. I'm no addict or anything...

Considering VZ's 5G equipment has a range of less than 500ft, I imagine it's going to take an army of KC's and tons of Milwaukee to make any progress on it outside of the major cities.

I can't understand why the big push to 5G considering its unproven health effects, cost to deploy, limited range for tech available, etc. It will be obsolete before the whole country gets it and someone is going to go bankrupt from it like Worldcom and their debt to deploy fiber.

NJ is like two states in one (North & South)
Where is the 5G coming to?

From what i hear VZ hired a contractor in Indiana (non union state) to run their 5G stuff. They fucked it up, VZ hired another outside Contractor - that also fucked it up.. so the build in NJ is being given to their Union Employees. I didnt know that was even a choice for them out here - but who knows.

Ive heard (just through ******** in the office) that VZ is using the wrong equipment, they know it, and thats changing. Engineer told a guy I work with that they are running new conduit, new manholes, from central offices out. Dont ask me how, but he said the signal is suppose to be so strong some lines need to isolated from others, and the traffic so great that they’ll need signal boosters much more frequently. With my limited knowledge of how fiber works, my guess is they will wind up using multi-mode fiber which can handle much higher traffic but just over shorter distances while FIOS uses single mode.

If youre in NJ you’ve had dark fiber poles and antennas going up for some time now. There are different ways to run a 5G network from what people tell me, so i dunno if that really has anything to do with it. Guy says the build is suppose to happen much more aggressively than FIOS was. Historically i can tell you plans like this can change overnight. VZ has 2 speeds, go and stop.

I just put the **** up, i have no idea how it works. If you got kids in school or with no direction i can tell you this much. If they learn how to splice fiber they’ll find a job anywhere in this country. Contractors get themselves in trouble this way. There’s so much money being made right now, they promise they can do anything to get contracts and most of their guys really DONT have tons of experience. You can literally teach anyone to splice two fibers together, but the knowledge (or value) of employee’s is knowing how to troubleshoot. Most of those guys with real experience learn at big companies and never leave. the rest are either people who were fired or who learn at small places that dont gain tons of experience. As of now - there is nothing that will replace fiber. Its not going anywhere anytime soon. Even “wireless” will be run on fiber. (Until the day everyone has lasers shooting to their houses)

I think it is his house that is red with all the Packout storage. I have a black & grey heated jackets (different versions), and a grey hoodie, and a rain jacket that is in a box that I don't remember what the color is. I'm not really partial to red for my jackets.
For some reason I don't think they sell nearly as many red colored jackets/hoodies. I want to say the camo jackets might sell more only because of hunters.

Would be nice if they actually rolled out 4G where they said it is, and improve where it is spotty. In high traffic areas, add some more towers. 4G has plenty of speed, not like they don't throttle you anyway. If someone told me there will be NO data caps or it requires 100x less power to run 5G equipment, then I'd get the push. Just like Comcast getting you 1GB speeds, all it does is get you to your cap faster, good bye cord cutting.

I'm not in a major field farming state, but I think the benefits of having full coverage out there makes more sense (full automation, drones) than the supposed benefits (like an extra charge on your bill) of 5G in large cities. Take 4G to it's limits first.

The 3in1 heated ripstop and the new gridiron jacket - is the same jacket.. ask me how i know, and i dont even wear either..

I have 3 heated hoodies i think, and 2 heated jackets, and 2 non heated (one being the ripstop). the new rain jacket thing just came too.

Honestly - i like the sandstone carhartt stuff myself over the Milwaukee grid iron/ ripstop stuff. Its just much more flexible and comfortable. Ill never give up my carhartt bibs. The heated jackets i have are the older soft shell versions. I dunno if I’m gonna pick up a newer one.

Yea - ill prob get a new one.. lol

While the existing backend (fiber) does need to be expanded if everyone was on 5G to handle the traffic. The problem is the equipment that sends out the end signal, most of the technology is weak and unreliable, and from I read the VZ equipment has the shortest range so they need a kajillion of them, almost one on every street corner in a city.

All this **** is definitely going to shorten our life span at least 10 years. No one can say that the 5G signals aren't harmful.
