Has anyone purchased or tried out the M18 chain saw ?
We have a bunch at work.. they are cutting up telephone poles. Everybody seems to like them. (As long as the battery is charged)
Has anyone purchased or tried out the M18 chain saw ?
Just got the m18 fuel hackzall today and used it for about 30-40 cuts already in the backyard for cutting up small diameter (2-5") branches to make them into firewood. I'm impressed, the one handed use is a big perk for me. It's well balanced with the 5.0 battery and moves the blade pretty quick for the size.
My 15A corded sawzall still has more beans, but for small projects around the house/yard this thing is awesome. I love it and will get tons of use out of it!

Thousands of millenials flock to Google to find out what a "CD" is......Anything no larger than a CD is cake, that's for sure...

The current best deal I've seen lately is $450 for saw kit w/ 1 battery and the Gen 2 Blower. Could sell the blower for $100+.

Not to get off topic, but if you're 28 and you grew up on CDs, you sir are a rarity. I was in college when mp3s arrived on the scene in 1998/1999, and CDs started disappearing almost immediately.Really? I'm only 28 and I grew up on CD's. Actually grew up on cassette tapes for several years, then CD's. And plenty of millenials are in their 30s now.

Well it took a while but the challenge is finally comomg down (guess they got tired of ***** slapping Dewalt all the time lol)
F**k them... I got my 2621-20 AND a FREE 5.0AH battery for $99![]()
Thanks for the "reviews" on the M18 chainsaw. I have been trying to search all reviews, and figured here I would get more of a honest opinion. I just learned yesterday that the local power company has switched out their gas chain saws to the Milwaukee M18. Hopefully there will be some sales coming up.
Thanks again for the replies.
John,
Thanks for this review. I have been on the fence about the hackzall. Like you the cordless sawzall had been my weapon of choice on branches/saplings. I think I am going to get one. The lighter weight and one hand operation are attractive.
Badger,
I don't have the chainsaw. I don't need one often and I have a Husqvarna Rancher that has been reliable for many years. I did get the pole saw. It was surprisingly powerful I thought. I little unwieldy and unbalanced with the extension, but it did what I needed without a ladder, which is a plus at my age.

The m18 fuel (even non fuel) hackzall is very ergonomic. They ONLY downside i see is the non adjustable shoe.
Better than M12, the shoe on that doesn't even tilt.
Not all m12 stuff are the super tools people make them out to be..

Got backpack sprayer in. Its nice, but sorta have buyers remorse.....I only spray twice a year with herbacide. Not good ROI
I usually look at Ryobi for that kind of stuff. If I'm using it all the time then I'll go Milwaukee. But for that few times a year stuff Ryobi will be just fine, and a lot easier on the wallet.
I hear ya. But for the frequency of how I would use it - I know at least I will always have good *m18 batteries* vs. the rarely not cycled Ryobi battery.
Sorta how I have a Dewalt 20V brad nailer....like the tool, but the battery might be bleh as it doesn't get exercised as much as it should
Free battery with every bare tool purchase. The stubby gun was $30 off plus a free battery.
Can always get an M18 to Ryobi adapter. I have one. It works..
Where was this at? I'm in the market for a stubby gun myself.
Who is the guy on this board that 3D prints the adapters?
I've been fully invested in Ryobi since it was blue, but I have been considering a few side tools in the M12 line. I'd like to get the new fuel ratchets since Ryobi isn't making those and that band saw would be handy too. What's the consensus on the M12 line? Are the 12v tools still pretty powerful with decent run times? It seems like they are really pushing that 2.0 battery, but that seems rather small.

M12 Fuel tools are the cats ***. And using a slim compact battery keeps the tool light. The 2.0's were a really decent improvement over the basic 1.5. but now they even have a 3.0 compact battery for M12. I've been happy with 2.0's in most of my tools, impact drivers do just fine with 2.0
Many of tools will benefit from the bigger XC type batteries (up to 6.0) for extended use though hackzall, little baby circ, air inflator, stubby impact wrench, shoot my 2891 BT speaker will run up to 14 hrs on a 4.0
And many of the older brushed tools are still nice the original impact driver is an old favorite of mine I have 2 of them one was free with purchase.
The M12 RA tools are all pretty cool tools drill has electronic clutch and impact driver has a defined purpose, Of course there is always the original ratchets too.
Cant go wrong buying into M12 IMO
The only real slouch is the vac
Just do not buy 2503/2504 without trying it before. There are some "features" with electronic clutch and not everyone likes them. I know several guys who prefer 2403/2404 instead of 25xx. For myself I have bought 2504 and 2402, now I am happy with M12 drivers. Also, If they are that good, then a light drill/driver might be worth considering ...
